The book is a footnote of life and memory, a sign of knowledge and intelligence, including divinity and reason, idols and destruction, praise and curse, arrogance and prejudice, truth and falsehood. The past emperors, monarchs, priests, and rulers have been controlled or slaughtered by censorship and prohibition, burning and destruction, etc. In ancient history, archaeology, war history, cultural history, and library and information science, many studies have been conducted on the burning and destruction of books, but the Western perspective is dominant, and there are nationalistic approaches and logical leaps. This study traced the truth about the destruction of the Royal Library of Alexandria in Egypt, destruction of the Baghdad libraries by the Mongol Empire, and burning more than 200,000 volumes of Korean historical documents of Japanese Government-General in Korea among the major bibliocausts with many mysteries and controversial issues in the East and West. As a result, the Royal Library of Alexandria is most likely destroyed under the rule of the Roman Empire. The massacre of the Baghdad library by the Mongolian army is a historical fact, not the manipulation and extreme exaggeration of western society. And Korean historical documents have been stolen and burned by the Government-General of Chōsen for 35 years and should be recognized as '200,000 + α'. Lastly, On the premise of excavating historical materials, research to investigate the truth behind the blibiocaust or libricide should be continued.
When people discuss the continental cultural elements in the ancient East Asian culture, people always attach great importance to the two major cultures of Confucianism and Taoism, but offer little explanation to the significant influence of the theory of yin and yang, the important philosophical base of the two major cultures. The theory of yin and yang, existing as the theoretical source at a profounder level, possesses philosophical connotations that are always embedded into the mainstream of thought, religions and customs, displaying its unique glamour in its unique way. Its influence is more than that, however. It has exerted far-reaching influence on and is of significant importance to the development of the ancient culture of East Asia. This article aims at exploring this field of study. After the erudite scholar of The Five Classics made a voyage to the east in the early sixth century, The Book of Changes, the most important Chinese ancient classic expounding the theory of yin and yang, started to circulate among the Japanese court, via Baiji in the Korea Peninsula. As a result, the theory of yin and yang found its way to Japan. Examining the spreading channels, we learn that the theory's dissemination was largely related to the activities of Buddhist monks. Shoutoku Prince, regent of Japan at the time, was himself an enthusiastic supporter of Buddhism and was excelled in the study of The Book of Changes and the theory of yin and yang. In the Twelve Ranks System and Seventeen-article Constitution promulgated by Shoutoku Prince, the influence of the theory of yin and yang and of the theory of the five elements can be visibly discerned. This obviously proves the sublime status of the Chinese theory of yin and yang in Japan, thanks to the victory of the political clique that adored Buddhism. In the shaping course of ancient Japanese culture, the theory of yin and yang served as an important philosophical source of its development. Mythology based on Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, two earliest Japanese books that exist today, record mythological stories about the emergence of the Japanese nation. The notion about the birth of heaven and earth and the forming of Japanese Shinto, expressed in the mythological stories, not only tell us the source and historical progress of the Japanese nation but also the nation's world outlook in the transition from barbarian period to civilized period, as well as the basis for its philosophical thinking. All these were marked with profound influence of the Chinese theory of yin and yang. The theory of yin and yang, as one of the ancient Chinese academic thoughts, was accepted asa political belief when it first spread to Japan. The emergence and establishment of both the Mikado system and the centralized regime in ancient Japan drew largely on the theory of yin and yang and adopted it as an important philosophical basis to deify and aggrandize the "imperial power" so as to protect the authority of the imperial ruling and consolidate the established regime. Following the continuous strengthening and expansion of the centralized state power, the theory of yin and yang was further employed, and gradually "hidden" in Japanese culture with the passage of time, finally becoming the edge tool of ancient Japanese Mikados in exercising political power and controlling the country.

This survey was conducted to investigate liberal arts college students' academic reading, to explore basic issues in their reading, and to provide how to improve their academic reading in their majors. The participants in this study were 457 students who enrolled in a college of liberal arts in a university. The study results represented as follows. Firstly, there were significant differences in vocabulary, reading comprehension, and fast-reading competence among student groups of different majors. Secondly, 66.9% of the students did not read widely in their major subjects throughout all departments. 67.7% of the students with low reading performance responded that they could complete college courses only with course textbook reading, course participation, and requirement submission. Thirdly, regarding the number of major subject books that the participants read, 82.1% of the students read less than 15 books, while 11.3% read less than a book. The students' academic reading hours during per week were less than 5 hours for 68.9% students and less than 10 hours for 13.9% respectively. Based on the results (departmental differences in reading competence, wide reading in major subject books, and liberal arts students' reading hours), liberal arts colleges need to design programs to guarantee quality and quantity in reading major subject books.
The purpose of this study was to analyze elementary school teachers' understanding, certainty, and familiarity with 13 key concepts of wave physics that are presented in textbook and teacher's guidebook. 123 elementary school teachers answered concept tests and questionnaires. In the results to these tests and questionnaires, teachers demonstrated a high level of understanding and high certainty in understanding with regard to the concepts of sound generation, effect of medium on wave, timbre, wavelength, and trough and crest of wave. For the topics of sound velocity, wave reflection and wave transmission, teachers demonstrated a high level of understanding but low certainty in understanding. With regard to sound propagation, teachers demonstrated a low level of understanding and an improperly high certainty in that low understanding. Teachers lacked knowledge, i.e., displayed a low level of understanding and low certainty in sound strength, sound frequency, constructive interference and destructive interference. In constructive and destructive interference, the teachers also displayed a low level of familiarity. We analyzed the differences in teacher's understanding, certainty, and familiarity according to teacher demographics defined by the teacher's gender, teaching experience with concepts of sound, career, curriculum track while in high school, and major in university. There were no significant differences in understanding, certainty, or familiarity as defined by gender, teaching experience, and career. However, these displays of knowledge were affected by the teacher's curriculum track in high school and their major. These results suggest that the teacher's understanding of, familiarity with, and certainty in wave physics concepts are more influenced by their learning experience than by their teaching experience. Therefore, we suggest additional learning opportunities for teachers (such as teacher training programs) in order to improve teacher knowledge and correct teacher misconceptions in wave physics.
Arguably, the term "Learning Organisation" (LO) was coined in the 1970's, in the organisational learning context, by Chris Argyris. Certainly it has been around for many years. But it achieved new heights of popularity after the publication of Peter Senge's book "The Fifth Discipline the Art and Practice of the Learning Organisation". Now every respectable Government Agency and major company feels obliged to call themselves a L0. A review of the academic literature and organisation documents show many different concepts being described. Indeed, it seems that some organisations claiming to be a L0 have no clear idea of what they mean by the concept. This paper seeks to go behind the confusion to see whether there is still value for serious practitioners to continue using this concept, or whether it is now such a hackneyed phrase that more precise concepts are desirable. The Literature relating to the L0 is vast and it is beyond the scope of a conference presentation to give a comprehensive literature review. Instead, the paper gives an overview of the broad groups using the term and summarises their similarities and differences. It then reviews the key concepts in Senge's work in the light of this cacophony. The paper concludes that the diversity of definitions render the term "Learning Organisation" virtually meaningless. unless it is accompanied by a specific definition. The paper also concludes that the central tenet of Senge's work, which played a major role in popularising the concept, has been largely overlooked by the many organisations claiming this proud title "A Learning Organisation." It is argued that Senge's contribution to the literature in this field, the centrality of systems thinking to effective organisation learning remains a little understood, but critical insight.

This study focuses on investigating and analyzing overall information use behavior of the social science researchers. questionnaires were sent to 150 researchers in three major libraries or research institutes in the area of the social sciences, Five hypotheses were tested on the basis of the assumption that there would exist unique characteristics in the information seeking behavior of social science researchers The findings of the study shows that social science researchers prefer monographs and journals: they tend to use current material: the first information source for their research activities is the cited references in the book or journal article : they are likely to delegate literature searching to the librarian, but they tend to conduct direct searching in online setting: in general, they react positively for the rapid change in information environment caused by recent development of information technology, It is emphasized that to design an efficient information system and provide an effective information service in the social science related library or information center, it is essential to consider the major characteristics and attributes of social science researchers in terms of their information use behavior.
Objectives : I'd like to introduce a Korean medical scientist, Lee Gyoojoon (李圭晙, 1855-1923)'s achievements about Huangdi's Internal Classic (黃帝內經, HIC) to examine the Section of Viscera and Bowels to inspect the Medical Classics (稽經藏府篇, SVBIM) of the Double grinded Medical Mirror (醫鑑重磨, DMM), which is a medical book published in 1922, his last studies. And I'd like to describe its meaning of medical history. Methods : For this, I compared the DMM with two primary texts, the representative medical books of Joseon dynasty, Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine (東醫寶鑑, TMEM) and Lee's former research result of HIC, Major Essentials of Huangdi's Internal Classic Plain Question (黃帝內經素問大要, MEHIC), in the aspects of the original text, annotation, editing, attached theses, and so on. Results : Lee Gyoojoon criticized the TMEM in two aspects. First, it was unfocused and miscellaneous, second, it intended to help Yin Qi (陰氣) and reduce Yang Qi (陽氣) so that it regards a prime mover, Yang Qi, as an enemy. In order to solve these problems he deleted miscellaneous articles and sort out the points to accord with the HIC. As a result, he had written the Section of SVBIM of the DMM in the form of revising the subtitles or refuting the contents of TMEM and quoted the partial texts of MEHIC to be written by the view of Supporting Yang Qi (扶陽). Conclusions : Lee Gyoojoon proposed the Supporting Yang Qi medicine to preserve the Heart fire (心火) based on his lifelong Neo-Confucianism (性理學) study. The Section of SVBIM of the DMM showed how to apply his medical theory, which is achieved by the study of the medical classic HIC to real clinical medicine through a medium of the TMEM. In addition, it could explain concretely how the Confucianists studied the medicine and how Confucianism can impact to the development of medical theory.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare the similarities among Donguibogam(DO), Uihagibmun(UI), and Gyeongagjeonseo(GY) in order to examine whether the medical thoughts embedded in the texts can be compared in a quantitative way. Methods : Under an empirical assumption that medical thoughts can be reduced to the frequency of major key words within the text, we selected the fourteen words of the four categories that are commonly used to describe physiology and pathology in Korean medicine as key words. And the frequency of these key words was measured and compared with each other in the three important medical texts in Korea. Results : As a result of quantitative analysis based on ${\chi}^2$ statistic, the key words in the books were distributed most heterogeneously in DO and distributed most homogeneously in UI. In comparison of the similarity analyzed by the same method, DO and UI were significantly more similar than those of DO and UI. The results of the word frequency pattern and the similarities of the book contents(CBDF) show that DO is influenced by UI, and the differences between standardized residuals and homogeneity tells us that internal context of both books are constructed differently. Conclusions : These results support the results of traditional research by experts. With the above, we were able to confirm that medical thoughts can be reduced to the frequency of major key words within the text, and compared through the frequency of such key words.
As well as "Sangyeongpyo," "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo," table of national road transportation system is important to comprehend identity of national geography in Joseon era even if it had not been researched yet. The aim of this study is to divide type of these tables and find its genealogy through mainly analyzing the road network and land names. As the result of this research, "Yeojigo," topographical researches of Korea, edited by Shin Gyeong-Jun as a palt of "Dongguk-Munheonbigo" official book in natural history of the Joseon Dynasty published in 1770, might be identified as the origin for all copy of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo." Then "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo," can be divided into at least three major types; almost direct descent of "Yeoji go" as 'type1', minor modification as 'type2', and hybrid edition(type3) with second type that quoted many land names as route information from "Dorogo," another topography specialized for road transportation. Since "Dorogo" was also composed by Shin, after all, all genealogy of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo" came from him.
The purpose of this study is to understand the concept of zero-waste design and to apply Sophia Vyzoviti's folding techniques to develop a zero-waste fashion design method that contributes to sustainable fashion design. In this study, we explore the method and characteristics of zero-waste fashion design based on the concept of folding described in Sophia Vyzoviti's book on folding techniques. Using the autonomy of Sophia Vyzoviti's folding technique, four changeable folding fashion designs were developed and produced, demonstrating zero-waste fashion design. The results were as follows. First, the development of fashion designs using Sophia Vyzoviti's folding techniques enabled the development and production of free and creative zero-waste fashion designs that were three-dimensional, continuous, fluid, and full of potential. Second, the production of zero-waste patterns was further developed into a transformable fashion design that can be used with geometric patterns. These folding techniques produced a fashion design method that could transform one piece of clothing, demonstration the potential for maintenance of creativity using a zero-waste design based on these folding techniques. Third, the double-faced fabric, Neoprene, was chosen as an appropriate material as it emphasizes the depth of folding with application of two colors and its cotton/polyester blend that is suitable for folding.
