  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of career decision self-efficacy on major satisfaction among nursing students, and to examine the moderating effect of professor-student interaction on career decision self-efficacy and major satisfaction. Methods: This study analyzed the data of 307 students among fourth-year university nursing students in A and C cities from May 2017 to July 2017 using the SPSS 24.0 statistics program. Results: There were significantly positive relationships between career decision self-efficacy, major satisfaction, and professor-student interaction. The professor-student interaction showed moderating effects in the relationship between career decision self-efficacy and major satisfaction, with 52.7% of explanatory power. Conclusion: This finding suggests the importance of career decision self-efficacy and the moderating effects of professor-student interaction to increase nursing students' satisfaction in their major. Therefore, it is necessary to make diverse efforts in the field of education to improve students' career decision self-efficacy and professor-student interaction.

  • Twenty-three plants of Japanese apricot (Prunus mume) were collected from several sites around Mountains JIRI in Korea. Japanese apricots having the different morphological features were evenly distributed in the groups made from the cluster analysis, indicating no geographic distributions but artificial vegetations in Korea. Japanese apricots were, as based on the PCR-RAPD techniques, clustered into the three groups; a group (prototype) having the five white petals with the five red sepals, a group (green type) having the five white petals with the five green sepals, and a group (hybrid type) having the more than five red petals with various colored sepals. The prototype apricots showed higher toxicities than other type apricot against bacteria and production of less compounds in TLC plates. The polypetal types of Japanes apricot were related to those of p. armebiaca in the characteristics of seed (the ruggedness), but also to be closed to those of p. armebiaca in PCR-RAPD analysis. The cluster analysis of the twenty three apricots and its related species calculated from the two primers were shown to distinguish relationships of cultivars within species, or of individual plants within cultivars, but also to display the two overlapping bands resulted from PCR-RAPD technique.

  • Thianthrene cation radical perchlorate ($Th^{+{{\cdot}}}{ClO_4}^-$) reacted readily with two isomeric thiols, benzylthiol (1) and 4-methylbenzenethiol (7) in an acetonitrile solution at room temperature. From the reaction of 1, the major products, N-benzylacetamide (4) and benzyl sulfide (5), are characteristic of benzyl carbocations while the minor one, benzyl disulfide (6) implies free radical component of the reaction. It is unprecedented that the formation of a benzyl carbocation was caused by the extrusion of sulfur atoms from benzyl sulfur cations (3). In contrast, from the reaction of 7, only p-tolyl disulfide (10) was obtained from both sulfur radicals and cations. In the reaction of 7 the thio-extrusion was not observed from the p-tolyl sulfur cation (9). A thianthrene cation radical ($Th^{+{{\cdot}}}$) was reduced quantitatively to thianthrene (Th) in both reactions.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate inservice elementary teachers' view and the change of preservice elementary teachers' view on the nature of science by the science education course. The subjects were 386 junior preservice teachers in a National University of Education and 257 inservice teachers working in a metropolitan city. An instrument consisting of fifty eight items were developed on the bases of previous studies. Before entering the course, preservice teachers view was compared by gender with T-test and no significant differences were found except the category 'role of a scientist'. Preservice teachers view was also compared by major with ANOVA and significant differences were found on the categories 'scientific method' and 'scientific law'. After the course, on comparing their view by gender, significant differences were found on the categories 'scientific theory', 'scientific knowledge', and 'scientific law'. The result of ANOVA by major, significant differences were found except the category 'role of a scientist'. Inservice teachers view was compared by gender and major and the differences were no significant, the significant differences, however, were founded in comparing by career and ability.

  • This study investigated unmarried college students' knowledge of sex and cognition of prenatal education. It also aimed to provide insights into how college students' awareness of prenatal education may be raised and to make future married couples practice prenatal education. This study used a descriptive correlational research design. Participants were 346 college students in North and South Jeolla Province. Descriptive statistics with the SPSS WIN 12.0 program were used to analyze the collected data. Important findings were as follows: The mean knowledge of sex was .55, which was near moderate level. The mean cognition of prenatal education was 4.08, which was near high level. Knowledge of sex was influenced significantly by sex and major, whereas cognition of prenatal education was influenced significantly by sex. Thus, it was found that when considering how to raise the cognition of prenatal education and sexual knowledge of sex, both gender and major are important factors to consider.

  • The study aims to discover the scope of pre-service special education teachers' knowledge and perceptions of using computer technology in teaching students with disabilities from a pre-service teacher (PST) perspective in light of the gender and sub-major variables. The sample consisted of 84 MEd students/pre-service teachers at the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education, Umm Al-Qura University. The descriptive analytical approach is used due to its relevance to the study. A survey consisting of the participant's basic information section and 12 statements was sent to a set of pre-service teachers. Findings showed that pre-service special education teachers had an overall high knowledge of using computer technology (M=3.93). Findings also indicated that there were no gender- or major-related statistically significant differences (α = 0.05), in pre-service special education students' knowledge and perceptions of using computer technology.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze current state of education departments in Korean universities and to find out ways to help education major students shape their future career. The findings of the study are as follows. First, the comparative analysis of the current state of education and education-related departments showed that average employment rate of education departments in 2011 was 35.0%, whereas that of related departments was 56.6%, which showed a significant difference. Second, education courses were specialized in areas such as lifelong educator qualifications, teaching certificates in morality/ethics, corporate HRD(human resource development), etc. in case of education departments. In case of education-related departments, education courses were specialized in areas such as teaching certificates in pedagogy, lifelong educator qualifications, license of school counselor, corporate HRD, etc. Though there were many overlapping areas, specialization was relatively more common and diverse in education-related departments. Next, to help students shape their future career, developments in specialized career courses, new career fields, and career education models were suggested. To give shape to the progress plans, the development of standard education courses for student careers, the introduction of certification system about course specialization, and search for the career path of teaching profession which allows utilization of the knowledge of education were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore ways to improve major satisfaction that can be applied by universities through the analysis of factors influencing major satisfaction of engineering college students. To this end, Korea-National Survey of Student Engagement(K-NSSE) data involving 814 students from T University were used, and logistic regression analysis and t-test were applied. The main results obtained through this are as follows. First, engineering college students' major satisfaction factors include major-career relevance, college immersion, and positive academic sentiment. Second, depending on the grade, it was confirmed that the factor of major-career relevance in the lower grades, and the factors of meaningful learning experience and college immersion in addition to major-career relevance in the upper grades had a significant influence. Third, the higher the meaningful learning experience, positive academic sentiment, and college immersion, including the major-career relevance, the higher the major satisfaction was found in the middle-class group with a score of BO or higher. This study is meaningful in that it revealed differences in influence by individual characteristics as well as major satisfaction influencing factors that can be practiced in universities such as learning experiences.
