A Novel Approach to Prevent Pressure Ulcer for a Medical Bed using Body Pressure Sensors

  • Despite numerous air mattresses marketed to prevent Pressure Ulcers (PU), none have fully succeeded due to residual pressure surpassing critical levels. We introduces an innovative medical bed system aiming at complete PU prevention. This system employs a unique 4-bar link mechanism, moving keys up and down to manage body pressure. Each of the 17 keys integrates a sensor controller, reading pressure from 10 sensors. By regulating motor input, we maintain body pressure below critical levels. Keys are equipped with a servo drive and sensor controller, linked to the main controller via two CAN series. Using fuzzy or PI/IP controllers, we adjust keys to minimize total error, dispersing body pressure and ensuring comfort. In case of controller failure, keys alternate swiftly, preventing ulcer development. Through experimental tests under varied conditions, the fuzzy controller with tailored membership functions demonstrated swift performance. PI control showed rapid convergence, while IP control exhibited slower convergence and oscillations near zero error. Our specialized medical robot bed, incorporating 4-bar links and pressure sensors, underwent testing with three controllers-fuzzy, PI, and IP-showcasing their effectiveness in keeping body pressure below critical ulcer levels. Experimental results validate the proposed approach's efficacy, indicating potential for complete PU prevention.

  • The rental housing has been a main role to supply a living space to the household who can not be available for the home-owner. Specially, the public rental housing is targeted for the low-income household and supplied with low rental fee. Therefore, the rent owner should manage and maintain the housing condition decently with a systematically maintenance plan which includes a repair time and scope, a repair cost. Among them, the repair time is important to make a repair plan. The repair time would be explained with two types, which is divided into a breakdown maintenance and a preventive maintenance. Each of them has a advantage in a repair cost, maintenance of the living condition and provision of the repair scope and method. In this paper, it aimed at providing the repair time in 12 components of the public rental housing which is reflected from a preventive maintenance. This study shows that overall, a permanent rental housing has a longer repair time than any other rental housing in 12 housing components. A public rental housing is closer to the a permanent rental housing then a redevelopment rental housing in repair time. On the other hand, the repair time of the 12 housing components is different form the rental housing. This leads to further study in difference of the repair time according to a tenant type.

스포츠 선수에서 발생한 주상골 부골 (Accessory Navicular in Sports Players)

  • Purpose: To analyze clinical symptom and clinical course of accessory navicular bone and to evaluation of surgery of accessory navicular bone in sports players Materials and Methods: Twenty-two patients with accessory navicular bone were identified between January 1 2001 and June 30. 2003 Results: Subjective satisfaction of 23 patients rated very satisfaction (16), satisfaction (6), common (1). Symptomatic pain were thoroughly disappeared at average 2.5 months ($1{\sim}6$ months) after operation. On one year follow-up, most of patients could maintain daily life and could go back to their sports carreer at 3 months. Conclusion: In athlete, excision of accessory navicular and reattachment of posteior tibial tendon to navicular like non-athletes is the best solution to management of symptomatic accessory navicular failed to manage conservatively.

발화력지수(醱化力指數)가 유리색조(色調)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effects of Glass Color Tone by Oxidation Power Index)

  • The most important element upon the quality of family glass products is the color of glass, which is the first object of consumers concern in purchasing. Therefore, colorless and transparent color tone can level up the additional value of the products. But we have produced the glass products in a large quantity by using the automatic tank brazier, chronic problem has been left over the color tone. By compounding and analizing the management techniques applied by peculiar technique and design of experiments pertinently, and by adjusting the decoloring composition ratio, we can contribute to improvement of color tone as well as to the cost reduction by diminishing the unnecessary decoloring agent. Intangible effect was the securing the superiority of quality home and abroad with the improvement of color tone and was taking a triangular position the factors influencing the glass decoloring which had been an unexhausted field. Tangible effect was the reduction of decoloring cost by diminishing the unnecessary oxidant. We registered the optimal composition ratio condition which was searched by applicating the design of experiments. To maintain good color tone, we manage the degree of purity, the most important thing among the items of color tone, continuously by control chart and it has maintained steady state now.

  • 상수도관망에서 발생하는 누수현상은 수자원의 손실뿐만 아니라 압력손실로 인한 추가적 가압 설비의 필요성 및 누수 되는 관로 주변의 토질의 약화 등을 초래하여 관망의 유지관리를 어렵게 하고, 심각한 경제적 손실을 야기하고 있다. 본 연구는 구역고립으로 인한 수압과 유량 등을 상시 모니터링 하여 누수사고의 적극적인 대처와 누수발생을 미연에 방지함으로써 유수율을 향상시킬 수 있다. 실제 구역고립 후 계속되는 수압조절 및 유입유량의 모니터링에 인하여 구역 내 유수율 산정결과 평균 유수율은 88.94%로서 부산광역시 2003년도의 유수율 79.5%보다 9.44% 높게 조사되었다.

  • Efficient water operation and management of an irrigation system plays an important element in the sustainability of irrigated agriculture. An agricultural water is delivered in many open canals of irrigation delivery system by reservoirs. The poor water distribution and management in an irrigation system is a major factor leading to low water efficiency. It is necessary to compare the estimated irrigation demands with the actual water supplies for decision making to maintain the water supply according to demand strategy. Smarter water management, new technologies and improvement of water management system, is essential to solve the problem of water efficiency and availability. In this paper, the irrigation efficiencies according to water delivery performance indicator were measured with automatic water gauge at irrigation canals, and calculated from spatial and temporal distribution of water supply for the lack of planning in water delivery. The analysis of results are obtain an insight into possible improvement methods to develop canal water management policies that enable irrigation planners to optimally manage scarce available water resources.

실시간 데이터 전송이 가능한 자동 복귀형 끌림 물체 검지장치 연구 (A Study on Automatic Return Dragging Detector with Real-time Data Transmission)

  • Recently, an expansion of safety facilities has been widely applied to effectively manage the safety of train operation due to increase of the high-speed section of the general railway and the introduction of high-speed train. Accordingly, performance improvement, upgrading and high reliability of existing safety devices are required. the dragging detector, one of the safety devices, is an analogue system that consists of closed circuit with an electric current flows and operates when the closed circuit is opened by the impact of the dragging object. Such method has unreasonable problem that should be replaced after being detected. It is need to replace with an automatic return type dragging detector which is easy to maintain. In addition, it is necessary to develop a dragging detector that applicable to general railway and urban railway including high-speed railway, in accordance with the speeding up and densification of trains, although it is currently applied only to high-speed railway. In this paper, we propose an automatic return type dragging detector which has versatility and excellent maintainability with digital sensor and real time monitoring.

Percutaneous OxyRVAD in a Patient with Severe Respiratory Failure and Right Heart Failure: A Case Report

  • Venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) is often used in cases of severe respiratory failure, especially in patients considered for lung transplantation. However, because many lung diseases can ultimately result in right heart failure, the treatment of secondary right heart failure can present a challenge when the patient is already under VV ECMO support. In such cases, an oxygenated-right ventricular assist device (OxyRVAD) can be used. OxyRVAD is designed to maintain anterograde blood flow and prevent right ventricular distension. Moreover, the pulmonary arterial cannula can be inserted percutaneously. We report a case in which percutaneous OxyRVAD was successfully implemented to manage right heart failure in a patient with respiratory failure who was on VV ECMO.

  • The role of protective relay with correct setting value is very important for the reliable operation of power : system. The setting process of a protective relay is difficult and requires hard work of calculations. Therefore, KEPCO as been using PROSET2000, a computer program system, in order to automate the setting process of protective relays in power transmission network since 2000. This system has a database and relay setting modules for each type of realy with coresponding Human and Computer Interaction(HCI). For the setting of a new type of relay, it require a new module, a HCI and a database table corresponding to the new relay. But it's update is not easy in case of new type of relay. This paper discussed the update method introducing a concept of Open Interface. It addressd a method to make a new HCI for new relay in view of object-oriented method using UML(Unified Modeling Language). Using the UML, we updated the PROSET2000. HCI screens for a new relay is generated automatically using the information of the new relay stored in the database. And, the database management module is upgraded to solve problems in manage and maintain the database in view of Open Interface.
