  • Machining technique for optical crystals with single point diamond turning tool is reported in this paper. The main factors influencing the machined surface quality are discovered and regularities of machining process are drawn. Optical crystals have found more and more important applications in the field of modern optics. Optical crystals are mostly brittle materials of poor machinability. The traditional machining method is polishing which has many shortcomings such as low production efficiency. poor ability to be automatically controlled and edge effect of the workpiece. The purpose of our research is to find the optimum machining conditions for ductile cutting of optical crystals and apply the SPDT technique to the manufacturing of ultra precision optical components of brittle materials. As a result. the surface roughness is good when spindle speed is 200m/min. and teed rate is small. The influence of depth of cut is very small.

  • In this paper, the performance of uncoated- and Titanium nitride aluminium TiAlN-PVD coated- carbide twist drills were investigated when drilling aluminium alloy, Al 6061. This research focuses on the optimization of drilling parameters using the Taguchi technique to obtain minimum surface roughness and thrust force. A number of drilling experiments were conducted using the L9 orthogonal array on a CNC vertical machining center. The experiments were performed on Al 6061 material l blocks using uncoated and coated HSS twist drills under dry cutting conditions. Analysis of variance(ANOVA) was employed to determine the most significant control factors. The main objective is to find the important factors and combination of factors influence the machining process to achieve low surface roughness and low cutting thrust force. From the analysis of the Taguchi method indicates that among the all-significant parameters, feed rate are more significant influence on surface roughness and cutting thrust than spindle speed.

  • The computer pattern sewing machine is an automatic sewing machine that is controlled by an input pattern. Even a novice can run this machine for various tasks fast and reliably such as sewing a button, a belt ring and an airbag, etc. The pattern processing software, which is the main software of this machine, is for editing and modifying pattern data by online teaching or off-line editing, setting up parameters, and calculate a moving distance of working area on the x-y axes. In this paper we propose an algorithm to generate pattern data for sewing by simplifying image data. The pattern data are composed of outline data like dot, line, circle, arc, curve, etc. We need converting this data into sewing data which involve sewing parameter, moving distance of working are an the x-y axes, thread, spindle speed.

  • In this paper, a mathematical model for a belt driven system is proposed to analyse the vibtation characteristics of the driving units with belts and the free and forced vibration analyses are carried out. The mathematical model for model for the belt-driven system includes belts, pulleys, spindle and bearings. Using the Hamilton principle, the 4 nonlinear governing equations and the 12 nonlinear boundary conditions are derived. To linearize and discretize the nonlinear govering equations and boundary conditions, the perturbation method and Galerkin method are used. Also, the free vibration analyses for the various parameters of the belt driven system, which are belt tension, belt length, material property of belt, belt speed and pulley mass are made. The forced vibration analyses of the system are made and the dynamic responses for the main parmeters are analysed with the belt driven system.

  • The aspherical lens are used as objective lens of optical pickup. The sample product is made before manufacturing the injection mould of lens to examine the design factor. The optimum cutting conditions of the main spindle speed, the depth of cut, the feed rate are found when we cut PMMA and PC lens sample with ultra-precision SPDT. The demanded surface roughness 10 nm Ra, aspherical form error 0.5 ${\mu}m$ P-V for aspherical lens of optical data storage device are satisfied for PMMA, but not satisfied for PC.

  • In machine tools, often a gearbox is installed to control the rotating speed of spindle, which sometimes generates problems of noise and vibration due to errors in tooth-meshing. In this study, the characteristics of, noise and vibration of given gearbox for a machine tool are analyzed experimentally. From the measurement, it was observed that the tooth-meshing component of the sound pressure level from the gearbox took its maximum at a specific operational speed. Therefore, the main content of this study is to investigate the reason why the above mentioned characteristics are observed. By investigating the natural frequencies of the components in gearbox, it was found that the natural frequencies of the rotating gear-shaft and gearbox for twisting mode were closely related to the first and second peak of sound pressure levels respectively. Thereform, in this study, those relations were identified by the impact test of rotating gear-shaft and-gearbox. In addition, we inserted the rubber between housing and bed, and analyze the effect of the rubber insertion on noise reduction by Operational Deflection Shapes.

  • Klystron which is micro wave amplifier tube are mainly used in fields of science such as accelerator, nuclear fusion, broadcasting, communication fields, and defense industry fields, tract. The quality of Klystron anode and cavity are determined by form accuracy and roughness of the worked surface. Therefore anode and cavity are restricted the from accuracy strictly and the surface roughness be under Rmax 0.03S. As a work material of anode and cavity, the oxygen-free copper, that is used for optical pares of aerospace and laser mirror is selected. An outside diameter of material is $\Phi$100 mm and an inside diameter is $\Phi$30~33 mm. In this study, to find the optimum ultra precision cuffing condition of oxygen-free copper with diamond turning machine, the surface roughness is examined for various diamond toot nose radius, main spindle speed, fred rate and depth of cut. As a result of experiment, we could machined the anode and cavity with a surface roughness within Ra 3.2 nm, a form accuracy within 0.01 $\mu\textrm{m}$.

  • Recently, the manufacturing market for low-cost airlines has led to an increase in aircraft demand. Most processes in the production of these aircrafts are manual such as drilling, sealing, and swaging. A drilling and riveting machine is a numerical-control based equipment that automatically performs drilling, sealing, and swaging operations. The accuracy of the drilled holes and the exit burr length has a significant impact on the quality of the aircraft wing during assembly. This study was conducted to identify the conditions necessary to maintain a uniform quality by controlling the rotation speed of the spindle, which directly affects the hole diameter and the quality of the exit burr.

  • As real-time data of factories can be collected using various sensors, the adaptation of intelligent unmanned processing systems is spreading via the establishment of smart factories. In intelligent unmanned processing systems, data are collected in real time using sensors. The equipment is controlled by predicting future situations using the collected data. Particularly, a technology for the prediction of tool wear and for determining the exact timing of tool replacement is needed to prevent defected or unprocessed products due to tool breakage or tool wear. Directly measuring the tool wear in real time is difficult during the cutting process in milling. Therefore, tool wear should be predicted indirectly by analyzing the cutting load of the main spindle, current, vibration, noise, etc. In this study, data from the current and acceleration sensors; displacement data along the X, Y, and Z axes; tool wear value, and shape change data observed using Newroview were collected from the high-speed, two-edge, flat-end mill machining process of SKD11 steel. The support vector machine technique (machine learning technique) was applied to predict the amount of tool wear using the aforementioned data. Additionally, the prediction accuracies of all kernels were compared.
