The composition of essential oil from O. javanica was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Using the broth dilution method and disk diffusion test, anti-microbial activities of the oil fraction and its main components were evaluated against various antibiotic-susceptible and resistant strains of pathogenic microorganisms. As a result of GC-MS analysis, 57 compounds, including ${\alpha}-terpinolene$ (28.1%), dl-limonene (16.0%), ${\gamma}-terpinene$ (10.3%), ${\beta}-pinene$ (9.7%) and ${\alpha}-pinene$ (6.0%) were identified in the essential oil fraction. The essential oil fraction of O. javanica and its main components exhibited significant inhibitory activities, particularly against Candida albicans (antibiotic-susceptible strains) and Streptococcus pneumoniae (antibiotic- susceptible and resistant strains). The main components of the O. javanica oil fraction displayed different patterns of activity against the three tested Candida species as exemplified by the differential minimum inhibiting concentration (MIC) values. The disk diffusion test showed that the activities were dose dependent.
Longitudinal distribution of the fish fauna of the 20 main channel and tributary sites in the Nakdong River was investigated from July 1999 to December 2000. A total of 4,791 individuals of fisHes were collected from three to seven sampling programs of all study sites and 48 species of 17 families were collected. Dominant family was Cyprinidae (25 species, relative abundance (RA): 91.8%). Zacco platypus (RA: 18.0%) was found to be the most abundant inhabitant. Subdominant species were Opsariichthys bidens (17,1%), Squalidus chankaensis tsuchigae (13.2%), Hemibarbus labeo (9.9%), and Z. temmincki (8.2%). Among the total species, 12 species were identified as endemic species (4 families, 24.5% of 1,172 individuals). Four exotic fishes were collected (Carassius cuvieri, 25 indv.; Micropterus salmoides, 214 indv.; Lipomis macrochirus, 14 indv.; Oreochromis niloticus, 6 indv.). M. salmoides was distributed in mid to lower part of the Nakdong River. As the result of cluster analysis, sampling sites were divided into three groups (upper, middle and lowerpart). Site below Gumi (St. 10) were considered as the lower part of the Nakdong River. Combined with previous surveys, about 80 species are present in the main channel and tributaries of the Nakdong River. Since the middle of 1990s, population density of the M. salmoides rapidly increased in the stagnant lower part of the river(RA 8.8% in lower 5 sites). The feeding strategy of M. salmoides was "generalized" on Daphnia sp. (<100 mm), and "specialization" about Cladocera (<150 mm) and Insecta(<200 mm).
This study aims to analyze the market interactions among the main farmed fish species in Korea, using both multivariate and bivariate cointegration analysis. For the analysis of market interactions among farmed fish species, major four farmed fish species, olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus), black rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli), red seabream (Pagrus major), and grey mullet (Mugil cephalus) were selected as the analytical target species. And their real price data by month from January 2000 to December 2011 were used in the analysis. The results of the multivariate cointegration test for four farmed fish showed that there would be no long-term equilibrium relationships among farmed fish species, and consequently they do not share the same market. The results of bivariate cointegration test indicated that there was little evidence to suggest that all farmed fish species were cointegrated each other. However, it was only analyzed that olive flounder and grey mullet might have a long run equilibrium relationship.
We have evaluated the combined antifungal effects of the essential oil from Eucalyptus globulus or its main component 1,8-cineole with ketoconazole. Checkerboard microtiter tests were used to analyze their effects against three Candida and six Trichophyton species. The susceptibility of the Trichophyton species to E. globulus essential oil differed distinctly. The fractional inhibitory concentration indices (FICIs) against the tested Candida species ranged between 0.09 and 0.38 for ketoconazole combined with E. globulus essential oil or 1,8-cineole, indicating significant synergism between ketoconazole and the oil samples. Similar experiments using Trichophyton species resulted in FICIs between 0.28 and 0.63, indicating relatively weaker combined effects than those observed with Candida species. Thus, the data reported here show that the anti-Candida effects of ketoconazole can be significantly improved in the presence of E. globulus essential oil or 1, 8-cineole.
A cladistic analysis for phylogenetic relationship among 3 freshwater planorbid snail species was carried out on the basis of their conchological and anatomical characteristics. The intestinal loop in the digestive systims was mainly distinguishable among 3 species of the planorbid snails. The loops in Hippeutis cantori and Segmentina hemisphaerula coiled around stomach, extended down to the distal part of the liver and finally connected with the anus, while the loop in Gyraulus convexiusculus was short and small, and connected directly to the anus after coiling around the stomach. However, the intestinal loop of Hippeutis cantori was the largest among those of 3 target snail species. In the main morpholohical differences of the riproductive systems, Gyraulus convexiusculus uniquely had a calcareous stylet in the penis sheath. Although there was no stylet in the penis sheath in the other snail species, the penis shesths connected with 1 and 2 flagella in Segmentina hemisphaerula and in Hippeutis cantori, respectively were different from each other. Two planorbid species, Hippeutis cantori and Segmintina hemisphaerula have a more recent phylogenetic ancestor out three species employed including Gyraulus convexiusculus.
Objective : For the purpose of developing Korean herbalogy of the plants to Aspleniaceae in Korea, the literatures of the successive generations have been thoroughly investigated to prepare this article. Methods : The examined herbalogical books and research paper which published at home and abroad. Results : 1. There are 2 genera and 21 species in Aspleniaceae in Korea and among them medicinal plants are 2 genera and 10 species, some 48% in total. 2. Asplenium genus is a main kind in that it has 20 species among 21 species in Aspleniaceae of which medicinal plants are 9 species. 3. The Herb play medicinal parts if most plants in the Aspleniaceae have the effect of a medicine, the 10 species of which are used for medical care. 4. According to nature and flavor of medicinal plants in the Aspleniaceae, the cold medicinal plants and the bitter medicinal plants take the highest number of them 5. According to the properties and principal curative action, they were classified into drugs for hemostatic 10 species, drugs for clearing away heat 8 species, drugs for detoxification 7 species respectively. 6. None of the species of Aspleniaceae have been found to be toxic. Conclusions : There are totaled to 2 genera and 21 species in Aspleniaceae in Korea and among them medicinal plants are 2 genera and 10 species some 48% in total.

The Purpose of this study was to obtain data about management of the landscape plants and facility in APT. complex. Because of be completed 2 years ago, landscape plants ware damaged by transplantation and lost the nature tree shape. As well, the management conditions of plants and facility were wholly bad. In details, tree-species consisted of 52 species arbors and 35 species shrubs in APT. complex. The high rank 5 species were planted as main plants. The rates were 45.6-62.8% in arbors and 81.8-97.0% in shrubs. In the degree of tree shape and damage by diseuse and pest, the bad level of 1-2points were ranked highly as 13.9% and 10.4%. In the degree of tree shape and damage by disease and pest, the bad level of 1-2points were showed as 5.1% and 4.7%. In the interview Survey, the main problems of management-maintenance were expressed deficiency of budget, specialist and concern of residents. In the future, methods for the intensive management of APT. complex; First, the management of landscape plants and facility should be attained by a expert and need to establishment of maintenance scheme thoroughly. Above all, for improvement of residential life, we should be lead to convert of a resident recognition in the management -maintenance of exterior space.
The fish fauna and Community were surveyed from April 2000 to September 2001 at 23 stations in the nam river, the first tributary located to the lower reach of the Nakdong River system. During the study period, 39 species belonging to 29 genera and 11 families were collected. Of which 14 species are endemic species or subspecies in Korea. Introduced species from other river system, O. bidens had not been collected at all after the report of Yang (1973) but many individuals were captured at main stream and tributary in this survey. Introduced species from abroad M. salmoides increased at most of stations. Dominant species in main stream were Z. platypus, O. bidens and H. labeo. On the contrary, Z. temmincki, Z. platypus and S. gracilis majimae dominated the tributaries. Diversity indices of main stream and tributaries were 0,979 and 0.966 respectively. St. 3 of main stream and St.1 and 16 of tributaries had high diversity indices (1.05, 0.962, 0.956) and lower dominant indices (0.102, 0.369, 0.200). As a whole, dominant index was 0.160, diversity index 1.044 and evenness index 0.656. It indicated that the community structure of this river was stable and diverse relatively.
In this paper, a two species competitive model with stage structure and harvesting is investigated. By using the differential inequality theory, some new sufficient conditions which ensure the permanence of the system are established. Our result supplements the main results of Song and Chen [Global asymptotic stability of a two species competitive system with stage structure and harvesting, Commun. Nonlinear Sci. Numer. Simul. 19 (2001), 81-87].
