  • 전북 부안군에 설치된 30kW급 Dual-rotor 풍력발전기의 Main rotor blade를 대상으로 공기역학적 모델링을 수행한 후 각종 바람 상황과 풍속에 따라 변화하는 RPM 상황을 고려하여 전산모의 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 출력성능을 향상시키기 위하여 최대 출력을 계산하고 이를 추종하도록 하는 직접 출력 제어 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

Experimental Study on the Mean Flow Characteristics of Forward-Curved Centrifugal Fans

  • Measurements have been made in an automotive HVAC b1ower for two different centrifugal fans. This work is directed at improving the performance of a conventional forward-curved centrifugal fan for a given small blower casing. Mean velocities and pressure have been measured using a miniature five-hole probe and a pressure scanning unit connected to an online data acquisition system. First, we obtained the fan performance versus flow rates showing a significant attenuation of unstable nature achieved with the new fan rotor in the surging operation range. Second, aerodynamic characterizations were carried out by investigating the velocity and pressure fields in the casing flow passage for different fan operating conditions. The measurements stowed that performance coefficients are strongly influenced by flow characteristics at the throat region. The main flow features ware common in both fans, but improved performance is achieved with tole new fan rotor, particularly in lower flow rate legions. Based on the measured results, design improvements were carried out in an acceptable operation range, which gave considerable insight into what features of flow behavior ware most important.

  • Main focus on balance shaft module is to reduce the vibration triggered from engine block and compensate it from unbalance mass in balance shaft. Since the performance of balance shaft module is controlled by rotor shape including unbalance mass, a design strategy on rotor is key issue on determine the quality of balance shaft system. Even the design result on balance shaft mostly affect the lay-out of housing and other related components, its issue on balance shaft should be considered in advance throughout the total design procedure. In this paper, optimal design strategy focused on balance shaft is presented to make a design process efficiently with ensuring its high performance. And its method is verified with field design process of balance shaft in commonly adapted vehicle with 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder engine.

A Hybrid Method for Vibration Analysis of Rotor Systems (회전축계의 진동해석을 위한 Hybrid법에 관한 연구)

  • The simplest method which has been used extensively for vibration analysis is the transfer matrix method introduced by Myklestad and was later extended by many researchers. The crude approximation results in considerable error on the predicted natural frequencies and to increase the accuracy the number of elements used in the analysis must be increased. In addition, numerical instability can occur as a result of matrix multiplication. Also the main disadvantage of the finite element method is the large computer memory requirements for complex systems. The new method proposed in this paper combines the transfer matrix and finite dynamic element techniques to form a powerful algorithm for vibration analysis of rotor system. It is shown that the accuracy improves significantly when the transfer matrix for each segment is obtained from finite dynamic element techniques.

  • This paper presents the development of a collocated capacitance sensor and its application to the controller design for magnetic bearing supported rotor systems. The main feature of the sensor is that it is made of a compact printed circuit board(PCB) so that it can be built into the actuator coil of the magnetic bearing unit. The singnal processing unit hax been also developed. The experi- mental results of the sensor performance evaluation on sensitivity, bandwidth and resolution are presented. Then, simulation study shows the advantages of the collocated sensor for magnetic bearings over the nonco- llocated sensor. Finally, the experimental result on the performance of the collocated sensor based contrl- ler for a magnetic bearing rotor system is presented.

  • In this study, scale-down design of full-scale Korean Utility Helicopter (KUH) main rotor blade has been investigated. The scaled model system were designed for the measurement of aerodynamic performance, tip vortex and noise source. For the purpose of considering the same aerodynamic loads, the Mach-scale method has been applied. The Mach-scaled model has the same tip Mach number, and it also has the same normalized frequencies. That is, the Mach-scaled model is analogous to full-scale model in the view point of aerodynamics and structural dynamics. Aerodynamic scale-down process could be completed just by adjusting scaling dimensions and increasing rotating speed. In the field of structural dynamics, design process could be finished by confirming the rotating frequencies of the designed blade with the stiffness and inertial properties distributions produced by sectional design. In this study, small-scaled blade sectional design were performed by applying domestic composite prepregs and structural dynamic characteristics of designed model has been investigated.

Sliding Mode Control of a New Wind-Based Isolated Three-Phase Induction Generator System with Constant Frequency and Adjustable Output Voltage

  • This paper presents a new stand-alone wind-based induction generator system with constant frequency and adjustable output voltage. The proposed generator consists of a six-phase cage-rotor induction machine with two separate three-phase balanced stator windings and a three-phase space vector pulse width modulation inverter that operates as a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). The first stator winding is fed by the STATCOM and used to excite the machine while the second stator winding is connected to the generator external load. The main frequency of the STATCOM is determined to be constant and equal to the load-requested frequency. The generator output frequency is independent of the load power demand and its prime mover speed because the frequency of the induced emf in the second stator winding is the same as this constant frequency. A sliding mode control (SMC) is developed to regulate the generator output voltage. A second SMC is used to force the zero active power exchanged between the machine and the STATCOM. Some simulation and experimental results are presented to prove the validity and effectiveness of the proposed generator system.

Effect on Vibration of Start-up Condition and Retrofit of Steam Turbines (증기터빈의 기동조건과 성능개선이 터빈의 진동에 미치는 영향)

  • The analysis shows that the vibration is one of the main reasons of turbine failure. Especially, the problems caused by vibration occur right after retrofit of the turbine-generator and restarting the turbine. Through the case study of high vibration caused by after the turbine trip and restart, turbine vibration was identified to be influenced by startup condition. Turbine startup at high casing temperature right after unscheduled turbine trip cause radial expansion in rotor by contraction in axial direction, while casing continues to contract by steam flowing into casing. Consequently, gap between rotor and casing decrease until to metal contact to cause high vibration. Through the case study of high vibration of turbine-generator system after generator retrofit, it was identified that generator replacement could cause high vibration in turbine-generator system if the influence of generator replacement on entire system was not considered properly. To prevent startup delay caused by high vibration, it is important to keep the gaps at the design standard and start the turbine after thermal equilibrium.

Thermal Analysis of a Canned Induction Motor for Main Coolant Pump in System-Integrated Modular Advanced Reactor

  • The three-phase canned induction motor, which consists of a stator and rotor with a seal can, is used for the main coolant pump (MCP) of the System-integrated Modular Advanced Reactor (SMART). The thermal characteristics of the can must be estimated exactly, since the eddy current loss of the can is a dominant parameter in design. Besides the insulation of the motor winding is compared of Teflon, glass fiber, and air, so it is not an easy task to analyze. A FEM thermal analysis was per-formed by using the thermal properties of complex insulation which were obtained by comparing the results of finite element thermal analysis and those of the experiment. As a result, it is shown that the characteristics of prototype canned induction motor have a good agreement with the results of FEM.

  • We are interested in this paper on the control of an electromechanical system consisting of a doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG), driven by a prime mover that can supply or extract mechanical power, e.g., a flywheel inertia, and an induction motor(IM). The stator of the Induction machine is connected to the stator of the generator whose rotor voltage is regulated by a bidirectional converter. The main interest of this configuration is that it permits a bidirectional power flow between the motor, which may operate in regenerative mode, and the generator We propose a passivity-based controller to regulate the motor mechanical speed. Since this kind of controllers achieve stabilization via energy balancing, regulation of the power flow in the system is naturally incorporated. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the main points of our paper.
