This paper deals with the nodal admittance approach steady-state frequency domain analysis of the three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by the variable speed prime mover as the wind turbine. The steady-state performance analysis of this power conditioner designed for the renewable energy is based on the principle of equating the input mechanical power of the three-phase SEIG to the output mechanical power of the variable speed prime mover mentioned above. Us-ing the approximate frequency domain based equivalent circuit of the three-phase SEIG. The main features of the present algorithm of the steady-state performance analysis of the three-phase SEIG treated here are that the variable speed prime mover characteristics are included in the approximate equivalent circuit of the three-phase SEIG under the condition of the speed changes of the prime mover without complex computations processes. Furthermore, a feedback closed-loop voltage regulation of the three-phase SEIG as a power conditioner which is driven by variable speed prime movers such as the wind turbine(WT) employing the static VAR compensator(SVC) circuit composed of the thyristor phase controlled reactor(TCR) and the thyristor switched capacitor(TSC) controlled by the PI controller is designed and considered for wind-turbine driving power conditioner.

The main propulsion system may be the most complicated of the shipboard systems. Many factors such as fuel economy, weight, space, first cost, reliability, vibration and noise must be considered when selecting the prime mover of the main propulsion system for ships. An expert system is a computer program that represents and reasons with knowledge of some specialist subject with a view to solving problems or giving advice. Recently, it is being developed increasingly with wider applications in many industries. This paper describes development of knowledge-based system for main engine selection of ships using general purpose expert system development tool, Nexpert Object. Developed system is consist of ship performance estimation module such as resistance and propulsion, data base for main engine, knowledge base for main engine selection in Nexpert Object and graphic user interface.
We are interested in this paper on the control of an electromechanical system consisting of a doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG), driven by a prime mover that can supply or extract mechanical power, e.g., a flywheel inertia, and an induction motor(IM). The stator of the Induction machine is connected to the stator of the generator whose rotor voltage is regulated by a bidirectional converter. The main interest of this configuration is that it permits a bidirectional power flow between the motor, which may operate in regenerative mode, and the generator We propose a passivity-based controller to regulate the motor mechanical speed. Since this kind of controllers achieve stabilization via energy balancing, regulation of the power flow in the system is naturally incorporated. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the main points of our paper.
This paper presents the generalized dynamic modeling of self-excited induction generator (SEIG) using state-space approach. The proposed dynamic model consists of induction generator; self-excitation capacitance and load model are expressed in stationary d-q reference frame with the actual saturation curve of the machine. An artificial neural network model is implemented to estimate the machine magnetizing inductance based on the knowledge of magnetizing current. The dynamic performance of SEIG is investigated under no load, with the load, perturbation of load, short circuit at stator terminals, and variation of prime mover speed, variation of capacitance value by considering the effect of main and cross-flux saturation. During voltage buildup the variation in magnetizing inductance is taken into consideration. The performance of SEIG system under various conditions as mentioned above is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the simulation results demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed system.
Servovalves are widely used in industrial areas in order to control the position of large steam valves which regulate steam flow to prime mover. We must control the position of large steam valves to regulate flow of working fluids in the process. The small pilot valves are used to regulate the large main valves in case that the pressure of control fluids supplied to servovalves is low about $12kg/cm^2$. But, in case that the pressure of control fluids supplied to servovalves is high enough about $110kg/cm^2$, the pilot valves are not needed and servovalves can control directly the large main valves due to its large working forces. Additionally, the basic structures of armature coil should be different according to the types of control system even in the same servovalve. This paper compares and describes some integral types of flow control.

Recently, commercial ships and other specialized vessels with electric propulsion system employ variable speed induction motor as its prime mover. The wide application of electrical motors also includes being the main drive system in most industrial machineries. However, during its start-up, shutdown, and brake switch operation, excessive torque variation are generated. As such, flexible coupling are installed in order to reduce the transmitted torque fluctuation to the driven side. In this paper, the pulse torque generated by an variable speed induction motor was analyzed theoretically and through measurement of torsional vibration. Induction motor with inverter on marine propulsion system and industrial compressor were used as experimental subjects. The study confirmed that pulse torque are generated regardless of motor speed and interpreted as a vibration source of the whole system. Results presented herein can be adopted as the basis in future amendment of inspection classifying body regulations.
This paper presents a new stand-alone wind-based induction generator system with constant frequency and adjustable output voltage. The proposed generator consists of a six-phase cage-rotor induction machine with two separate three-phase balanced stator windings and a three-phase space vector pulse width modulation inverter that operates as a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). The first stator winding is fed by the STATCOM and used to excite the machine while the second stator winding is connected to the generator external load. The main frequency of the STATCOM is determined to be constant and equal to the load-requested frequency. The generator output frequency is independent of the load power demand and its prime mover speed because the frequency of the induced emf in the second stator winding is the same as this constant frequency. A sliding mode control (SMC) is developed to regulate the generator output voltage. A second SMC is used to force the zero active power exchanged between the machine and the STATCOM. Some simulation and experimental results are presented to prove the validity and effectiveness of the proposed generator system.
Purpose: This study has been conducted to investigate the applicability of motion analysis of tillage blade for estimation of tillage characteristics of crank-type and rotary-type rotavators. Methods: The interrelation between tillage traces from motion analysis and field test results including rotavating depth, pulverizing ratio and inversion ratio at the same work conditions were analyzed for both crank-type and rotary-type rotavators. The work conditions include working speed of prime mover tractor and PTO speed of rotavators. For the motion analysis, joint conditions of main connecting component were specified considering the actual working mechanism of rotavator. Results: There were important correlations for the trend between motion analysis and field test results. Conclusions: Although further study is needed for applying motion analysis to estimate the accurate tillage related parameters such as rotavating depth, the soil pulverizing ratio and inversion ratio, it could be used to compare the tillage characteristics of various rotavators quickly and simply.
Boom sprayers have been known by their excellency in field efficiency worker’s safety and pest control efficacy. The boom sprayer in Korea that was developed for paddy field is not suitable for upland field of which shape is irregular and inclination is steep, due to heavy chemical tank long boom width and manual on-off control of spraying. The goal of the study was to develope a boom control system that could control boom angles of left and right boom automatically and independently corresponding to local field slope. The prime mover was selected as a cultivating tractor. Main results of this study were as follows. 1. Ultrasonic sensor whose response time was 0.1s and response angle was within $\pm$20$^{\circ}$was selected to measure distance. Voltage output of the sensor(X, Volt) had a highly significant linear relationship with the vertical distance between the sensor and ground surface(Y, mm) as follows; Y=0.0036X-0.437 2. Left and right section of the boom could be folded up by a position control device(on-off control) which could control the left and right boom independently corresponding to local slope by equalizing distances between the sensor and boom at the center and left/right boom. Most reliable DB(dead band) was experimentally selected to be 75$\Omega$(6cm). 3. At traveling velocity of 0.3~0.5m/s RMS of error between desired and achieved height was less than 4.5cm The developed boom angle controller and boom linkage system were evaluated to be successful in achieving the height control accuracy target of $\pm$10cm.
