  • The technology of high-speed electrical machines is particularly relevant to applications involving electrical power generation and high-speed motors with high power density and high efficiency. Due to the development of improved materials for electrical machines, power electronic elements and design technology, the high-speed electrical machines are being rapidly introduced into industrial applications. The introduction of high-speed electrical machines has created a new market for electrical machines and will, as an application, contribute to the development of modern electrical machines. This paper deals with applications and market trends and KERI's activities in high-speed electrical machines.

  • A method for simulating general characteristics and temperature characteristics of magnetizing fixture coil of the capacitor discharge impulse magnetizer-magnetizing fixture system using SPICE is presented. This method has been developed which can aid the design, understanding and inexpensive, time-saving of magnetizing circuit. As the detailed characteristics of magnetizing circuit can be obtained, the efficient design of the magnetizing circuit which produce desired magnet will be possible using our SPICE modeling. Especially, The knowledge of the temperature of the magnetizing fixture is very important to forecast the characteristics of the magnetizing circuits tinder different conditions. The capacitor voltage was not raised above 810[V] to protect the magnetizing fixture from excessive heating. The temperature estimation method uses multi-lumped model with equivalent thermal resistance and thermal capacitance.

평판형 전동기의 2차원 자계 해석에 관한 연구 (2-D Field Analysis of Flat-type Motor)

  • 본 연구에서는 2차원 자계 해석 프로그램을 이용하여 평판형 브러시레스 직류 전동기의 자계 해석을 위한 방법을 제시하였다. 정확한 자계 해석을 위해서는 3차원 자계 해석이 필요하지만 많은 시간 및 비용이 요구되는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 자계 해석을 위하여 3차원 문제를 해당 자석의 평균 반지름에 대한 원통방향의 단면으로 해석하여 2차원 경계치 문제로 축소시켰다. 본 방법을 이용할 경우 시스템의 크기 및 형태에 관계없이 정확한 2차원 자계해석 결과가 합리적으로 얻어지게 된다.

  • This paper deals with the characteristic analysis of a brushless permanent magnet d.c. motor. The rotor has ring-type permanent magnet magnetized by a capacitor discharge magnetizer with multi-pole fixture. Torque and current characteristics are analyzed by the time-stepped finite element method. And then the results are compared with experimental values.

  • This paper studies on the noncontact displacement sensor system to detect the displacement of the cylinder rod. For an inexpensive and a simple process, magnetic scales are printed on the cylinder rod, and magnetized by the specially designed magnetizer that has an yoke through the alternation of N and S pole. Noncontact displacement sensor system consists of cylinder with magnetic scales, Hall sensor, linear guide, controller and display. The system can detect the displacement of moving cylinder with 5 cm/sec in the case of 1 mm magnetic scale. It shows a possibility of position detection of hydraulic cylinder and air cylinder.

  • In this paper, we study in magnetizing the NdFeB magnet which is inserted in a squirrel cage rotor. The inserted NdFeB magnet need much more magnetizing flux than that of ferrite magnet. Also the eddy current flowing in rotor bar disturbs the magnetizer in magnetizing the NdFeB magnet. The existing magnetizing yoke is designed by increasing the coil turn. But we recognize that only by increasing the coil turn it is impossible to make NdFeB magnet magnetized fully. Hence, in this paper we propose the method of increasing magnetizing flux by reducing the rotor bar area.

  • Magnetization distribution in the ring magnet for BLDC motor is generally nonuniform because the structure of mutipole magnetizer is not symmetry and the air gap is not uniform. In this paper, the effect of the nonuniform magnetization on characteristics of the motor such as torque ripple, unbalanced force and current is examined. Time stepped finite element method is used for electromagnetic field analysis.

가스관의 자속누설탐사에서 잔류자화의 영향에 관한 연구 (Effects of Residual Magnetization on MEL Non-destructive Inspection of Gas Pipeline)

  • 가스관의 비파괴검사로 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 자속누설탈사에서 가스배관의 잔류자화(residual magnetization, $M_{res}$)와 탐사횟수가 누설자속에 미치는 영향을 정량적으로 간편하게 실험실에서 해석할 수 있도록 배관대신에 소형의 모의장치를 제작하여 조사하였다. 제작된 장치는 나사에 의한 결함까지도 측정할 수 있고 또 원형 링을 완벽히 탈자시킬 수 있어 탐사가 진행됨에 따라 잔류자화의 영향, 배관의 자화상태변화와 누설자속 등을 효과적으로 모사할 수 있었다. 탐사횟수가 증가할수록 잔류자화, 최대자속밀도 그리고 검출전압은 감소하다가 일정해지지만 초기잔류자화(initial $M_{res}$)가 커지면 최종잔류자화(final $M_{res}$)도 커졌다. 탐사조건이 일정할 경우 검출전압은 배관의 최대자속밀도보다는 직전의 잔류자화의 크기에 직선적으로 비례하였으며 이것은 탄소강으로 만들어진 원형 링의 자기이력현상, 즉 자구구조의 변화 때문에 생기는 것으로 정확한 탐사신호를 해석하기 위해서는 이력현상을 고찰할 필요가 있다. 또 잔류자화가 크면 첫 번째 탐사에서 높은 검출전압을 얻을 수 있다는 것을 착안하여 두 번째 탐사에서는 착자기의 자화방향을 바꾸면 높은 검출을 얻을 수 있음을 제안하였다.

  • This paper investigates the cogging torque reduction in a brushless DC(BLDC) motor having an inner-rotor with surface-mounted segment-type permanent magnets. The kind of magnets for the BLDC motor could have different waveforms of magnetization such as square, trapezoidal and sinusoidal form. This paper discusses the effect of the unsymmetrical magnetization distribution in the segment-type permanent magnet, which is able to obtain through a segment structure that the number of poles per segments is 2 ($N_p/N_s$), on the cogging torque and EMF waveform. Where the existing magnetizer fixture for the square-type magnetization is used to magnetize the magnets in two segment structures of $N_p/N_s$ = 1 and 2. The effectiveness of the proposed designs had been confirmed by comparing cogging torque, and EMF waveform between conventional and new models which are analyzed by Finite Element Method (FEM).

강자성(强磁性) 스테인리스강(鋼) 자화침(磁化鍼)의 개발 (Development of Magnetized Ferromagnetic Stainless Steel Acupuncture Needle)

  • Objectives : Manufacturing and manipulation techniques of acupuncture can be interpreted as an induced electromagnetic viewpoint, as proposed in previous study. Considering from this point of view, the magnetization of needles should be essential to enhance the electromagnetic effects during the behavior of the acupuncture needling. Methods : The current disposable needles are made of non-magnetic stainless steels, so ferromagnetic materials were searched as suitable substitutes. Meanwhile, at the practical view, stainless steels are very available for the several superior properties like as corrosion resistance, strength, etc., magnetic stainless steels were first investigated. Some types of them still preserved the ferromagnetic properties of iron, so trial needles were made with them. And then magnetization of them were followed. Results : Among the hundreds types of stainless steels, martensitic or ferritic ones are ferromagnetic. The needles made with these ferromagnetic wires were magnetized, and polarized by magnetizer, and their magnetic properties were improved. Moreover, in addition to the superiority of the magnetism, the electrical and thermal conductivities of them were even better than those of the current austenitic stainless steels. Conclusions : Through the developmental study based on the electromagnetic viewpoint, the magnetized and polarized acupuncture needles were completed. This means that these needles having improved magnetism can be used to improve the electromagnetic needling effects, and moreover, their superiorities in the electrical and thermal conductivities can also give another benefits in treatments of electrical or warm needling.
