  • We have used acetic acids ethanol and distilled water as a solvent to synthesize $La_{2/3}Sr_{1/3}Mn_{0.99}{^{57}}Fe_{0.01}O_3$(LSMFO) precursor. Crack-free LSMFO granular polycrystalline thin films have been deposited on thermally oxidized silicon substrates by spin coaling. The dependence of crystallization, surface morphology, magnetic and transport properties on annealing temperature was investigated. With increasing annealing temperature, the metal-semiconductor (insulator) transition temperature and the magnetic moment decrease while the resistivity increases. The lattice constants remain almost unchanged. For LSMFO thin films, spin-dependent interfacial tunneling and/or scattering magnetoresistance were observed. Our results indicate that the annealing temperature is very important in determining the intrinsic and extrinsic magnetotransport properties.

  • The authors studied the conduction mechanism in an uranium doped low dimensional magnetic system $Ca_2CuO_3$. This system exhibits the S=1/2 quasi 1D antiferromagnetic chains of -Cu-O- with strong magnetic coupling, and demonstrates continuous semiconductor-like behavior with constant covalent insulator character. This paper identifies the conduction is due to thermally activated phonon-assisted electron hopping between dopant uranium sites. The parameter a, the characteristic for hopping probability, was determined to be 0.18 ${\AA}^{-1}$. This value manifests a relatively stronger hopping probability for $Ca_2CuO_3$ as compared with other uranium doped ceramics.

  • Magnetic multilayers of a ferromagnetic (FM)/insulator (I)/ferromagnetic (FM) structure have been studied to investigate magnetic exchange coupling between two FM layers. As the Mumetal $(Ni_{77}Fe_{14}Mo_{5}Cu_4$ wt%) growth temperature increases, the grain size and the surface roughness increase simultaneously. The smallest coupling field is obtained at $40^\circ{C}$ where the grain size is larger than that of the $20^\circ{C}$ sample. The exchange coupling field increases again at temperatures higher than $40^\circ{C}$ due to increase in the surface roughness of the Mumetal.

  • We observed leveling-off of the resistance in granular In/InO$_x$ thin films in the zero-temperature limit. The temperature T$_b$ at which the leveling-off appears gets larger as the sheet resistance R$_n$ increases. This is consistent with the concept that the leveling-off of the resistance is due to the dissipation of the bosonic phase and that the dissipation is enhanced as the resistance increases. The magnetic field dependence of the saturated resistance R$_b$ at low temperatures fits the modified square-root cusp-like form R$_b$/R$_n$=α exp[-b(B/B$_c$-1)$^{-1/2}$] for the magnetic field in the range B$_c$$_f$ where B$_c$ is the onset magnetic field of the resistance leveling-off. α and b are constants of order 1. For B>B$_f$ tansport properties are described by the theory of the fermi insulator. From the results, we attribute the leveling-off to the dissipative quantum tunneling of vortices, which supports the models predicting the vortex-motion-induced insulating phase related with the concept like"dirty boson" [1]l and "hose metal" [2].

  • The time-resolved photoexcitation dynamics of electrical conductivity of the magnetic organic superconductor ${\lambda}-(BETS)_2Fe_{0.45}Ga_{0.55}Cl_4$ has been studied with a nanosecond visible laser pulse at its three different phases, i. e., metallic phase, superconducting phase and insulating phase. A transient increase of the resistance is induced by photoirradiation at all the temperatures measured for all three phases, but the decay profile shows a significant temperature dependence. The relaxation rate in the metallic and insulating phase are different from each other, and the decay time is relatively faster and almost constant in the metallic phase. However, a prolongation of the relaxation time is observed at temperature just around the narrow superconducting phase. Nonbolometric (nonthermal) origin of the observed photoresponse of the electrical conductivity is confirmed in the superconducting phase.

  • Rare earth metal films have been used as a buffer layer for growing ferroelectric t thin film or a seed layer for magnetic multilayer. But when it was deposited on s semiconductor substrates for the application of magneto-optic (MO) storage media, it i is difficult to exactly measure magnetic cons떠nts due to shunting current, and so it n needs to grow metal films on insulator substrate to reduce such effect. Recently, it w was reported that ultra-thin Pt layer were epitaxially grown on A12O:J by ion beam s sputtering in 비떠 high vacuum and it can be used as a seed layer for the growth of C Co-contained magnetic multilayer. In this stu$\phi$, Pt thin film were epi떠xially grown on AI2D3 ($\alpha$)OJ) by RF magnetron s sputtering. The crystalline structure was analyzed by transmission electron microscope ( (TEM) and Rutherford Back Scattering (RBS)/Ion Channeling. In TEM study, Pt was b believed to be twinned on AI잉3($\alpha$)01) su$\pi$ace about Pt(ll1) plane. Moreover, RBS c channeling spectra showed that minimum scattering yield of Pt(111)/AI2O:J(1$\alpha$)OJ) was 4 4% and Pt(11J)/AI2D3($\alpha$)OJ) had 3-fold symmetry.

  • Heteromagnetic nanostructures, which consist of two or more different layers such as nonmagnet, insulator, ferromagnet, antiferromagnet, and superconductor, have been widely used in current and likely future spintronics devices. Their many intriguing magnetic properties are originated from a variety of magnetic interactions at relevant length scales at or near interfaces and between different constituent layers as well as laterally different regions in chemical and magnetic heterogeneity. The fundamental properties can thus differ along depth and laterally in the film plane, depending on their relevant coupling length scales. The entire properties may be characterized by interface properties and/or the depth-varying properties of the individual constituent layers, and lateral inhomogeneity as well. It is a challenge to investigate both depth-varying properties and lateral heterogeneity in such heteromagnetic nanostructures. In this talk, soft x-ray magneto-optical effect as a nanometer scale probe of a variety of heteromagnetic structures is presented and its related noble techniques are introduced. For instances, magnetization vector imaging to investigate vector spin configurations in the film plane is presented, as well as the Kerr rotation, ellipticity, and intensity measurements as a depth sensitive probe on the atomic scales.

  • According to ICNIRP guidelines for limiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields up to 300GHz, magnetic flux density which range from 3Hz to 150kHz are regulated to lower than $6.25{\mu}T$. In order to comply with its standard, OLEV(On-Line Electric Vehicle) have been designed considering EMF(Electro-Magnetic Field) reduction. However, if a current flowing in power line would be bigger for increasing power transfer efficiency, the established shield system no longer acts their role properly. In this paper, therefore, FCCL(Flexible Copper Clad Laminate) is applied to power line and pick-up devices to solve the problems. Though, the FCCL is normally utilized to insulator on circuit board, because of its high heat resistance characteristic, flexibility and thin properties, it makes effectiveness in the shielding device as well. 4 types of FCCL shielding structure are introduced to power line and pick-up devices. From the results, the FCCL which are placed in proposed positions shows maximum EMF reduction compared to the established shielding structure. Henceforth, if OLEV is applied FCCL shielding structure in practice, it will not only be more safe but also step forward to commercialization near future.

  • The magnetic properties of single- and poly-crystalline $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}MnO_3/Pr_{0.65}Ca_{0.35}MnO_3$ multilayered (ML) films, and composite (CP) $(La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3})_{0.5}(Pr_{0.65}Ca_{0.35}_{0.5}MnO_3$ films, prepared by laser ablation, have been investigated in a wide temperature range. It was shown that the transformation from an incoherent to a coherent interface in the ML films leads to an enhancement of the ferromagnetic coupling between layers and to a single-phase magnetic transition. The amorphous CP films demonstrate a paramagnetic behavior of the magnetization with a sharp peak at $T_{G}\approx$45 K, which was interpreted as the formation of Griffiths phase. A short-term annealing at $750^{\circ}C$ induced the complete crystallization of film, and a recovery of the ferromagnetic and the metal-insulator transitions.

  • The effects of lattice strain on the magnetic and the transport properties of La$_{0.8}$Sr$_{0.2}$MnO$_3$films grown on a LaAlO$_3$ (001) substrate and on a La$_{0.8}$Sr$_{0.2}$MnO$_3$ layer have been studied. It was observed that the metal-insulator and the ferromagnetic transitions turn out to be at higher temperatures for the film deposited on La$_{0.8}$Sr$_{0.2}$MnO$_3$ layer with respect to that on LaAlO$_3$. The dependence of Curie temperature on the bulk and the Jahn-Teller strains has also been determined. determined.
