FEA was used to analyze inductance and torque of IPMSM. Torque and inductance are analyzed on the dq-axis. It was shown that Ld and Lq have harmonic components, and magnitude as well as phase of the harmonics varies according to the current values. This paper shows the relationship between these inductance harmonics and the 6th harmonic component of torque.
There are several methods to achieve selective NMR image of differing chemical species with the three most popular methods of Dixon's, CHESS, and SECSI. A major problem common to all chemical shift imaging methods is the uniformity of the static magnetic field and distortions introduced when RF coils are loaded with a conducting specimen. Without magnetic field shimming, these methods cannot be used to acquire selectively image protons in fat and water which are separated by approximately 3.0ppm. Experiments with a phantom, with linewidths of 2.5 to 3.5ppm, were quantitatively evaluated for the three methods and a new chemical shift imaging method. In this study the new chemical shift imaging method (modified CHESS+SECSI technique) which included a selective saturation and refocusing pulse, was developed to determine the ratios of water and fat in different samples.
Applying the magnetically levitated transportation system, which is noncontact bearing system, to solve the problems such as transformation of original form or flaw of iron plate caused by transportation of thin iron plate which required high quality as body of motor vehicle, materials of electronic devices etc.. Magnetic saturation phenomena caused by thickness of iron plate and gap size between magnets. In case of iron plate, the vibration mode will be considered since vibration occurs during transportation. In order to solve the problems caused by vibration, choose the levitation system method using numbers of magnet, magnetic saturation for thickness and length of iron plate with parameters in location and gap of magnet. In this paper, we will suggest the whole design technique of magnetically levitated transportation system, namely method of magnetic attraction and transportation system

The thickness dependence of magnetic properties was experimentally investigated in nanocrystalline Fe-Hf-N thin films fabricated by a RF magnetron sputtering method. In order to investigate the thickness effect on their magnetic properties, the films are prepared with different thickness ranges from 90 nm to 330 nm. It was revealed that the coercivity of the thin film increased with film thickness. On the contrary, the saturation magnetization decreased with film thickness. On the basis of the SEM and TEM, an amorphous phase forms during initial growth stage and it changes to crystalline structure after heat treatment at $550^{\circ}C$. Nanocrystalline Fe-Hf-N particles are also generated.
Microstructures and mechanical properties of variously heat treated 0.85% carbon steel(eutectoid steel) were evaluated by magnetic property measurements. Microstructural analysis (pearlite interstellar spacing), measurement of mechanical properties(Rockwell hardness, yield stress, fracture stress) and magnetic properties(coercivity, remanence, hysteresis loss, saturation magnetization) were performed to clarify mutual relationships among these parameters. Water quenched specimens with martensite structure showed much higher coercivity and remanence than air cooled or furnace cooled specimens with pearlite structure. The linear dependence of coercivity and remanence on pearlite interlamellar spacing as well as on Rockwell hardness, yield stress and fracture stress was observed in the pearlitic steel. Hysteresis loss and saturation magnetization showed no distinct trend with pearlite interlamellar spacing.
FeCoB films were being prepared on a Ru underlayer by using the oblique incidence of sputtered and back-scattered particles which have a high in-plane magnetic anisotropy field $H_k$ above 400 Oe. It is suitable to attain such deposition condition when facing targets sputtering system. The in-plane X-ray diffraction analysis clarified that there is anisotropic residual stress which is the origin of the high in-plane magnetic anisotropy. The directional crystalline alignment and inclination of crystallite growth were also observed. Such anisotropic crystalline structures may affect the anisotropic residual stress in the films. The B content of 5.6 at.% was appropriate to induce such anisotropic residual stress and $H_k$ of 410 Oe in this experiment. The film with B content of 6 at.% possessed large saturation magnetization of 22 kG and high $H_k$ of 500 Oe. The film exhibited high ferromagnetic resonance frequency of 9.2 GHz.

This paper proposes a core loss analysis method to obtain high accuracy prediction by using Multi-curve representing magnetic properties of a electrical steel in Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Generally, the magnetic prosperities of the electrical steel are measured by Epstein Method based on the international standards that are not good sufficient to predict motor performances. The method only aims to grade products in steel companies The magnetic properties of actual stator core is highly different to those given by steel companies due to the fact that stacking effect, shearing stress, nature anisotropy of electrical steels are not taken into account. In this paper, the magnetic properties are variously measured by three measuring devices, and then the several BH curves and BW curves obtained are used to analyze the core loss of a IPM. The BH curve in the high magnetic field are extrapolated using the mathematical formulation with the maximum saturation magnetic polarization measured

Acoustic noise and vibration of a BLDC motor is a coupled phenomenon between mechanical characteristics and electromagnetic origins through the motor air-gap. When a relative misalignment of rotor in the air-gap center exists on the assemblage, it is considered to influence the motor system characteristics. In this paper, the back electro motive force(BEMF) is analyzed by Finite Element Method(FEM) and verified by experiments for the SPM and IPM type motors. For magnetic field analysis, a FEM is used to account for the magnetic saturation. Using these results, the FEM is made to determine the appropriate electromagnetic field analysis in BLDC motors with rotor eccentricity ratio. A radial magnetic imbalance force of BLDC motor with rotor eccentricity is analyzed. Results demonstrate that the imbalance force is increased according to the degree of misalignment. An IPM motor, mostly chosen to realize high-speed operation, shows a worse effect on magnetic unbalanced forces and dynamic responses compared with SPM motor due to magnetic saturation when the rotor eccentricity exists.

Fault tolerant control algorithm for heteropolar magnetic bearings are presented. This fault tolerant control utilizes grouping of currents as C-cores in order to isolate magnetic fluxes. Hardware requirements to maintain fault tolerant control are reduced since decoupling chokes are not required in this control scheme. The currents supplied to each pole are redistributed, if some coils fail suddenly, such that the resultant magnetic forces should remain invariant through coil failure events. Load capacity before magnetic saturation is reduced through coil failures while maintaining the same magnetic forces before and after failure.
