Positron emission tomography and magnetic resonance imaging

  • Molecular imaging technologies have been used to provide a new pathway for therapies and diagnosis of human disease. Especially, imaging probes have been much development in the molecular imaging field. Combining imaging probes for positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have suggested the potential of multiple methods in living body. This review discusses the cancer or lymph node-targeting probes that are suitable for PET/MRI based diagnosis.

금속 표면결함 검출용 자기유도 마이크로 박막 센서 (Inductive Micro Thin Film Sensor for Metallic Surface Crack Detection)

  • 비자성 및 자성 금속 시편의 표면 결함을 검출하기 위하여 교류자기장을 이용하였다. 비파괴 센서 프로브는 자성 박막 요크와 박막형 코일로 구성된 신호 검출부와 시편에 교류자기장을 인가하기 위한 단일 직선을 이용한 여기 코일로 이루어져 있다. 박막형 유도 코일 센서는 스퍼터, 전기도금, 건식 식각과 사진식각 공정을 이용하여 제작되었다. 시편에 교류자기장을 인가하기 위하여 0.7 MHz-1.8 MHz 주파수 영역에서 0.1A-1.0A의 교류전류를 여기코일에 인가하였다. 센서의 특성은 최소 0.5 mm의 깊이와 폭을 가진 인위적인 슬릿 형태 비자성체 Al과 자성체 FeC 결함 시편을 이용하여 측정하였다. 측정된 신호는 높은 감도를 갖고 결함 시편위의 슬릿결함의 위치와 일치함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 박막형 유도 코일 센서를 이용하여 마이크론 크기의 표면 결함을 가진 자성체 FeC의 시편을 비접촉 스캔하여 측정된 유도전압의 변화를 이미지화 하였으며 그 결과를 광학적 이미지와 비교하였다.

  • This paper proposes the improvement of the etch rate of GaN using a magnetized inductively coupled $CH_4/H_2/Ar$plasma. The gradient magnetic field with the axial direction is investigated using Gauss-meter and the ion current density is measured using double Langmuir probe. The applied magnetic field changes the ion current density profile in the radial direction, resulting in producing the higher density in the outer region than in the center. GaN dry etching process is carried out based on the measurements of the ion current density. The each rate of 2000 /min is achieved with $CH_4/H_2/Ar$ chemistries at 800 W input power, 250W rf bias power, 10 mTorr pressure and 100 gauss magnetic field.

Metabolic profiling study of ketoprofen-induced toxicity using 1H NMR spectroscopy coupled with multivariate analysis

  • $^1H$ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of biological samples has been proven to be an effective and nondestructive approach to probe drug toxicity within an organism. In this study, ketoprofen toxicity was investigated using $^1H$-NMR spectroscopy coupled with multivariate statistical analysis. Histopathologic test of ketoprofen-induced acute gastrointestinal damage in rats demonstrated a significant dose-dependent effect. Furthermore, principal component analysis (PCA) derived from $^1H$-NMR spectra of urinary samples showed clear separation between the vehicle-treated control and ketoprofen-treated groups. Moreover, PCA derived from endogenous metabolite concentrations through targeted profiling revealed a dose-dependent metabolic shift between the vehicle-treated control, low-dose ketoprofen-treated (10 mg/kg body weight), and high-dose ketoprofen-treated (50 mg/kg) groups coinciding with their gastric damage scores after ketoprofen administration. The resultant metabolic profiles demonstrated that the ketoprofen-induced gastric damage exhibited energy metabolism perturbations that increased urinary levels of citrate, cis-aconitate, succinate, and phosphocreatine. In addition, ketoprofen administration induced an enhancement of xenobiotic activity in fatty oxidation, which caused increase levels of N-isovalerylglycine, adipate, phenylacetylglycine, dimethylamine, betaine, hippurate, 3-indoxylsulfate, N,N-dimethylglycine, trimethyl-N-oxide, and glycine. These findings demonstrate that $^1H$-NMR-based urinary metabolic profiling can be used for noninvasive and rapid way to diagnose adverse drug effects and is suitable for explaining the possible biological pathways perturbed by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug toxicity.

Dual Rotor 풍력발전을 이용한 선박에서의 효과적인 풍향 풍속 측정 (Efficient Measurement of Wind Velocity and Direction Using Dual Rotor Wind Power Generator in Vessel)

  • This paper proposes an efficient measurement system for the velocity and direction of the wind using the dual rotor wind power generator in vessel. Conventional digital measurement system recognizes the direction and the velocity of the wind using the electric compass or synchronous motor and Vane probe method using hall sensors. But each system has its own short-comings: the synchronous motor has a larger measurement error than the magnetic compass and magnetic compass is weak for the external disturbances such as fluctuation of the vessel. To compensate these short-comings, this paper proposes a new compensation algorithm for the fluctuation errors according to the external interference and the unexpected movement of the vessel along the roll and pitch directions. The proposed system is implemented with the dual compasses and a synchronous motor. The proposed independent power generation system can be operated by itself and can raise the efficiency of the wind power generation systems of 30 ~ 400 W installed along the vertical and horizontal axes. The proposed system also realizes the efficient and reliable power production system by the MPPT algorithm for the real-time recognition of the wind direction and velocity. An advanced switching algorithm for the battery charging system has been also proposed. Effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been verified through the real experiments and the results are demonstrated.

PLASMA DIAGNOSIS OF FANING TARGETS SPUTTERING SYSTEM FOR DEPOSITION OF BA FERRITE FILMS IN Ar, Xe AND $O_2$ GAS MIXTURE

  • The diagnosis of the plasma in the facing targets sputtering system was performed in mixture gas of Ar 0.18-0.0 Pa, Xe 0.0-0.18 Pa and $O_2$ 0.02 Pa by using Langmiur's probe and the effect of plasma-damage to surface smoothness and magnetic characteristics of Ba ferrite films was clarified. The electron density $N_e$ and the electron temperature $T_e$ were evaluated at the center of the plasma and at the neighborhood of the anode ring. $T_e$ decreased and $N_e$ increased with increase of $P_{Xe}$ at the center of plasma. For the measurement at the neighborhood of the anode ring, $T_e$ was almost constant and $N_e$ took the minimum value at $P_{Xe}$ of 0.1 Pa, where Ba ferrite films with excellent c-axis orientation and magnetic characteristics were obtained. It was suggested that the restriction of the bombardment of recoiled particles as well as the suppress of plasma-damage were effective for obtaining good surface smoothness and excellent magnetic characteristics and it was useful for decreasing the crystallization temperature of Ba ferrite films.

터빈 습분분리재열기 Type-439 스테인리스강 튜브 와전류검사 (Eddy Current Testing of Type-439 S/S Tube of MSR in Turbine System)

  • The tubes in heat exchanger are typically made of copper alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium alloy material. Type-439 ferritic stainless steel is ferromagnetic material, and furnish higher heat transfer rates than austenitic stainless steels and higher resistance to corrosion-induced flaws. Ferritic stainless steel can be found in low-pressure(LP) feedwater heaters and moisture separator reheaters(MSRs) in turbine system. LP feedwater heaters generally utilize thin wall Type-439 stainless steel tubing, whereas MSRs typically employ a heavier wall tubing with integral fins. Service-induced damage can occur on the O.D(outside diameter) surface of Type-439 ferritic stainless steel tubing which is employed for MSRs tubing, and the most typical damage mechanism is vibration-induced tube-to-TSP(tube support plate) wear and fatigue cracking. The wear has been reported that occurs mainly on the OD surface. Accordingly, in this study, we have evaluated the flaw sizing capability of magnetic saturation eddy current technique using magnetic saturation probe and flawed specimen.

Power Absorption Measurements during NMR Experiments

  • The heating produced by the absorption of radiofrequency (RF) has been considered a secondary undesirable effect during MRI procedures. In this work, we have measured the power absorbed by distilled water, glycerol and egg-albumin during NMR and non-NMR experiments. The samples are dielectric and examples of different biological materials. The samples were irradiated using the same RF pulse sequence, whilst the magnetic field strength was the variable to be changed in the experiments. The measurements show a smooth increase of the thermal power as the magnetic field grows due to the magnetoresistive effect in the copper antenna, a coil around the probe, which is directly heating the sample. However, in the cases when the magnetic field was the adequate for the NMR to take place, some anomalies in the expected thermal powers were observed: the thermal power was higher in the cases of water and glycerol, and lower in the case of albumin. An ANOVA test demonstrated that the observed differences between the measured power and the expected power are significant.

역-솔레노이드 코일을 이용한 내부 영상용 핵자기공명 영상 탐침의 제작 (Construction of magnetic Resonance Imaging Probe for Internal Imaging Using Anti-Solenoid Coil)

  • 역-솔레노이드 코일 형태를 이용한 핵자기공명용 내부영상 탐침을 제작하였다. 역-솔레노이드 탐침들로 획득된 영상의 신호-대-잡음비를 시제품 탐침인 머리코일과 몸통코일로 얻은 것들과 비교하였다. 내부영상에 관한한, 본 논문에서 제작된 역-솔레이노이드 탐침들이 위의 시제품 탐침들보다 향상된 기능성을 보였다. 그리고, 역-솔레노이드 탐침들이 형성하는 RF-자기장의 분포를 컴퓨터를 이용하여 계산하였다. 아울러, 본 논문에서 제작된 역-솔레노이드 탐침을 이용한 인체의 내부영상의 가능성에 대해서도 논의하였다.

  • 직사각형 슬릿 개구를 갖는 금속 함체에 수직, 수평 편파를 입사하여 차폐 효과를 연구하였다. 직사각형 슬릿개구의 magnetic polarizability와 금속 함체의 공진 모드를 이론적으로 분석하였고, 이를 바탕으로 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 또한, 함체 내부 프로브의 위치에 따른 차폐 효과 의존성도 분석하였다.
