다결정${(Fe,In,Eu)}_2O_3$계의 자기적 성질에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Magnetic Properties of Polycrystailine${(Fe,In,Eu)}_2O_3$)

  • 다결정${(Fe_{2}O_{3})}_{1-x-y}{(In_{2}O_{3})}_{x}{(Eu_{2}O_{3})}_{y}$(x=0.01, y=0.02과 x=0.02, y=0.03)의 자기적 성질을 X선 회절, $M\"{o}ssbauer$ 효과 방법과 자기이력 측정에 의해서 연구하였다. X선 회절결과는 이들 시료의 결정구조는 $\alpha-Fe_{2}O_{3}$와 같음을 보인다. 사중극자 분열과 평균 반폭치 분석으로부터 x=0.01과 y=0.02인 시료는 Morin 전이를 보이며, x=0.02와 y=0.03시료에서 반 강자성 벡타와 결정축[111]사이의 각은 온도의 증가에 따라 약 $35^{\circ}$로부터 (111) 평면에 놓이기 까지 변한다. 초미세 자기장의 온도 의존성은 스핀파 이론을 써서 분석하였다. 상온에서의 이성질체 이동값은 약 0.35mm/s로 이는 시료내의 철의 이온값은 $3^{+}$임을 의미하는 것이다. 이성질체 이동의 온도의존성은 Delbye모형을 써서 분석하였다.

초전도 $MgB_2$ 박막의 온도와 장기장의 변화에 따른 광학적 성질 (Temperature and magnetic field dependent optical properties of superconducting $MgB_2$ thin film)

  • We investigated the temperature and magnetic field dependent optical properties of a$ MgB_2$ thin film in the far-infrared region. In the superconducting state, i.e. 5 K, we obtained the values of superconducting gap $2\Delta$ ~ 5.2 meV and $2\Delta$ $_{k}$ $B/T_{c}$ ~1.8. Although the value of$ 2\Delta$$B/T_{c}$ was nearly half of the BCS value, the $2\Delta$ seemed to follow the temperature dependence of the BCS formula. Under the magnetic field (H), the superconducting state became suppressed. Interestingly, we found that the normal state area fraction abruptly increased at low field but slowly increased at high field. It did not follow the H-dependences predicted for a s-wave superconductor (i.e. a linear dependence) nor for a s-wave one (i.e. $H^{1}$2/ dependence). We discussed the complex gap nature of $MgB_2$ in comparison with two gap and anisotropic s-wave scenarios.ios.

Magnetic levitation properties of single- and multi-grain YBCO bulk superconductors

  • Single-grain (c-normal or c-parallel) and multi-grain YBCO superconductors were prepared by a melt growth process with/without seeding. The magnetic levitation force and trapped magnetic field at liquid N2 temperature (77 K) of the YBCO superconductors were investigated. Samples for the levitation force measurement were zero-field cooled (ZFC) to 77 K, and samples for trapped field measurement were field-cooled (FC) using Nd magnets. As for the magnetic levitation force, the c-normal, single grain sample showed the largest value, whereas the multi-grain sample showed the lowest value. The trapped magnetic field of the c-normal and c-parallel single-grain samples was 4-5 times that of the multi-grain sample. In addition, as the external magnetic field (the number of magnets) increased, the both properties increased proportionally. These results were explained in terms of the orientation dependence of the levitation forces and the magnetic field trapping capability of the YBCO superconductor.

플라즈마 산화시간과 열처리 조건에 따른 터널링 자기저항비의 온도의존특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Temperature Dependence of Tunneling Magnetoresistance on Plasma Oxidation Time and Annealing Temperature)

  • 자기 터널 접합(Magnetic Tunnel Junction, MTJ)의 플라즈마 산화시간과 열처리 온도에 따른 자기저항(Tunneling Magnetoresistance, TMR) 온도의존특성을 연구하였다. 플라즈마 산화시간을 30$_{s}$ 70$_{s}$ 까지 10$_{s}$ 간격으로 변화시켜 측정한 결과, 산화시간 50초에서 상온에서 25.3%의 가장 높은 TMR 비를 얻었다. 스핀 분극도 $P_{0}$ 스핀파 지수(spin wave parameter) $\alpha$를 구한 결과, 산화시간 50$_{s}$ 에서 40.3%의 가장 높은 스핀 분극도와 가장 낮은 온도 의존 특성인 (10$\pm$4.742)${\times}$$10^{-6}$ $K^{-1.5}$스핀파 지수(spin wave parameter) $\alpha$값을 얻었다. 그리고 온도별 열처리 결과 175$^{\circ}C$에서 TMR비가 25.3%에서 27.5%까지 증가하였으며 스핀파 지수는 (10$\pm$0.719)${\times}$$10^{-6}$ K $^{-1.5}$ 까지 감소하여 온도의존도가 감소하였다.

  • Dependence of magnetic and magneto-optic properties on composition of amorphous NdFe alloys has been studied to identify a promising magneto-optic recording material in the wavelength of a blue laser beam. From the view point of crystallographic state, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy energy and polar Kerr rotation angle, the Nd-rich region was found to be suitable for the research purpose.

External Magnetic Field Influence on Exchange Coupling Oscillations in Ultrathin Fe/Au/Tb Film Structures

  • In the present work exchange coupling between ultrathin Fe ($8{\AA}$) and Tb ($12{\AA}$) layers separated by Au spacer of varied thickness ($3-20{\AA}$) was studied. Anomalous Hall effect measurements showed weakly damped oscillating dependence of the Hall conductivity as a function of Au spacer thickness. Disagreement of the observed damping with the RKKY model of interlayer exchange coupling was explained by the influence of external magnetic field on the behaviour of exchange coupling oscillations. It was confirmed by Hall-like effect measurements at zero applied magnetic field and also illustrated by corresponding estimations.

  • The viscometric technique is used to study the effects of microstructure on the viscosity (viscosity vs. concentration or shear rate) of magnetic particle suspensions. In this characterization, measurement of suspension viscosity is used to obtain the dependence of viscous energy dissipation on microstructural state of dispersions. Microstructural shape effects which are related to particle orientation are then indirectly obtained. Empirical formulas from mean field theory and the Mooney equation, which are applicable at high concentration of magnetic particles, are used to relate viscosity to particle concentration. The validity and physical meaning of these equations are discussed.

Measurement of activation magnetic moment in ferromagnetic thin films

  • We have investigated the activation magnetic moment, which characterizes the basis magnetic moment acting as a single magnetic particle during magnetization reversal. The activation magnetic moment was measured from each local area on continuous ferromagnetic thin films, by analyzing the magnetic field dependence of magnetization reversal of the corresponding local area based on a thermally activated relaxation process. It was found that the activation magnetic moment was nonuniform on submicrometer scale; the fluctuation increased with increasing the number of layers in Co/Pd multilayers. The distribution could be well analyzed by exp($\delta$m$\^$3/2/), where $\delta$m is the deviation of the activation magnetic moment from the mean value.
