상하이형상 및 야간 무인가공을 고려한 와이어 EDM 전용 CAM 시스템 개발 (Development of the Wire EDM CAM System Considering a Variab1e Taper Wire-cut and an Unmanned Wire EDM During the Night)

  • This paper describes the wire EDM (Electric Discharge Machining) CAM system considering a variable taper wire-cut and an unmanned wire EDM during the night. Wire EDM is applicable to all materials that are fairly good electrical conductors, including metals, alloys and most carbide. Thus it provides a relatively simple method for making holes of any desired cross section in materials that are too hard or brittle to be machined by most other methods. In this paper we classify variable taper wire-cut machining patterns and variable taper wire-cut geometries. Also we determine unmanned wire EDM patterns fur the productivity of wire EDM industry. Developed system consists of two modules: 1) Variable taper wire EDM module guarantees the length ratio machining function, the parametric ratio machining function and the marking function. 2) Unmanned wire EDM module guarantees the automatic wire EDM during the night. The proposed system has been tested in the fields and found to be a useful system.

  • This paper develops an AC motor controller for applications. The AC motor controller is designed based on the variable structure control method and a variable structure disturbance observer is added to reduce the effects of exogenous disturbances. The designed controller is installed on the z-axis of a CNC machining center and milling experiments were performed. The results show improved performance on both position and speed tracking, when compared to the factory-designed servo controller.

소재 제거율을 고려한 이송속도 가변형 NURBS 보간기 (Variable Feedrate Interpolator for NURBS Curve Considering Material Removal Rate)

  • Conventionally used linear or circular interpolator is undesirable for the precision machining of 3D free-form surface as the following reason: the transmission errors due to the huge number of data, discontinuity of segmentation, unsmooth motion speed. To this regard, modern CNC machine tools are designed with the function of machining arbitrary parametric curves. However, these systems don't consider the adaptive federate, which dominates the quality of the machining process. This paper proposes a NURBS interpolator for the constant material removal rate. That is accomplished by the variable federate using curvature of curve. The curvature-compensated feederate system has important Potential applications in ensuring part accuracy and protecting cutting tool. The simulated result show it can be applicable to the real machining.

  • This paper describes the database for wire cutting electrodischarge conditions and variable taper wire-cut Machining. Electodischarge wire-cut machining is applicable to all materials that are fairly good electrical conductors, including metals, alloys, and most carbides. Thus it provides a relatively simple method for making holes of any desired cross section in materials that are too hard or brittle to be machined by most other methods. In conventional wire cutting CAM systems usually generate the NC code omitting electrodischarge conditions, so operator edits the NC code manually. But it is very inefficient. Therefore in this paper we propose a wire cutting CAM system including database for electrodischarge conditions. Proposed system consists of three steps: 1) Development of database for electrodischarge conditions 2) Development of CAM functions, Including 2D CAD modeling tools, file I/O functions, wire path genera tion functions and postprocessor. 3) Development of variable taper wire-cut machining module. The proposed system has been tested in the JinYoung precision Machine Co.,LTD. and found to be working satisfactorily.

  • This study presents the analysis of ball end milling machinability and its application to the determination of the optimum feedrate in the CNC machining process of sculptured surface. The methods which estimate the cutting force system is approached experimentally. The estimation strategy, named technological processor, was applied to the machining process of sculptured surface for finding optimum variable feedrate. From the result of practical implementation for the test model, it is ascertain that the technological processor have brought the dispersion of force profiles. As compared with conventional imposing of cutting conditions, the machining time has reduced by more than 60%.

  • Thermal error compensation has been developed for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining center with moving heat sources. The thermal error in CNC machining center has an effect on machining accuracy more than the geometric error does. Thus, temperature distributions of a spindle unit have been analyzed numerically by a Finite Differential Method and experimentally by an infrared (IR) camera in this study. A multiple variable method has been derived to estimate the thermal deformation of the machine origin stably and effectively after measuring deformation and temperature data. The experimental results for a vertical machining center have shown that the thermal errors of the machine origins were reduced more than 30% by the developed method.

CNC 가공 공정 불량 예측 및 변수 영향력 분석 (Defect Prediction and Variable Impact Analysis in CNC Machining Process)

  • Purpose: The improvement of yield and quality in product manufacturing is crucial from the perspective of process management. Controlling key variables within the process is essential for enhancing the quality of the produced items. In this study, we aim to identify key variables influencing product defects and facilitate quality enhancement in CNC machining process using SHAP(SHapley Additive exPlanations) Methods: Firstly, we conduct model training using boosting algorithm-based models such as AdaBoost, GBM, XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost. The CNC machining process data is divided into training data and test data at a ratio 9:1 for model training and test experiments. Subsequently, we select a model with excellent Accuracy and F1-score performance and apply SHAP to extract variables influencing defects in the CNC machining process. Results: By comparing the performances of different models, the selected CatBoost model demonstrated an Accuracy of 97% and an F1-score of 95%. Using Shapley Value, we extract key variables that positively of negatively impact the dependent variable(good/defective product). We identify variables with relatively low importance, suggesting variables that should be prioritized for management. Conclusion: The extraction of key variables using SHAP provides explanatory power distinct from traditional machine learning techniques. This study holds significance in identifying key variables that should be prioritized for management in CNC machining process. It is expected to contribute to enhancing the production quality of the CNC machining process.

절삭효과를 고려한 적응 교차축 연동제어 시스템 (Adaptive Cross-Coupling Control System Considering Cutting Effects)

  • In this study, the cross-coupling control (CCC) with three new features is proposed to maintain contour precision in high-speed nonlinear contour machining. One is an improved contour error model that provides almost exact calculation of the errors. Another is the utilization of variable controller gains based on the instantaneous curvature of the contour and the variable command. For this scheme, a stability is analyzed. As a result, the stability region is obtained, and the variable gains are decided within that region. The other scheme in the proposed CCC is a real-time feedrate adaptation module to regulate cutting force fur better surface finish through regulation of material removal rate (MRR). The simulation results show that the proposed CCC system can provide better precision than the existing method particularly in high-speed machining of nonlinear contours.

기계 특성에 근거한 5축 밀링가공 시간의 예측 (5-axis Milling Machining Time Estimation based on Machine Characteristics)

  • In this paper, we present a machining time estimation algorithm for 5-axis high-speed machining. Estimation of machining time plays an important role in process planning and production scheduling of a shop. In contrast to the rapid evolution of machine tools and controllers, machining time calculation is still based on simple algorithms of tool path length divided by input feedrates of NC data, with some additional factors from experience. We propose an algorithm based on 5-axis machine behavior in order to predict machining time more exactly. For this purpose, we first investigated the operational characteristics of 5-axis machines. Then, we defined some dominant factors, including feed angle that is an independent variable for machining speed. With these factors, we have developed a machining time calculation algorithm that has a good accuracy not only in 3-axis machining, but also in 5-axis high-speed machining.

절삭성을 고려한 자유곡면 모형의 볼 엔드 밀링가공에 관한 연구 (Ball end milling of sculptured surface models by considering machinability)

  • 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 구비조건과 문제점들을 해소하기 위하여 Fig.1과 같 이 볼 엔드 밀링의 절삭성과 경제적 절삭 속도식을 실용식의 형태로 표현하여 절삭조 건의 최적화를 위한 구속조건으로 설정하였고, 이를 자유곡면의 절삭경로 산출과정에 서 구속조건을 만족하면서 부품당의 생산비를 최소로 하는 스핀들속도와 이송속도를 결정하는 데에 적용하였다. 그리고 이는 실험모형에의 적용예를 통해 계산시간과 정 확도 및 절삭효과 등에 있어서 실용화의 가능성을 검토하였다. 이때 절삭력계를 해 석 함에 있어서는 기하학적 절삭 파라미터들에 대해 무차원적으로 정의된 절삭작용 누 적계수(accumulating coefficient)들을 이용하여 절삭력계를 선형화 된 실용식으로 표 현하였으며, 절삭 상수들과 절삭작용 누적계수들의 선형적 표현에 의해 평균 절삭력계 를 계산한 후, 토크 패턴 모델에 의해 절삭력 집중비를 구함으로써 실 절삭계의 주변 력(peripheral force), 드러스트, 토크, 동력 등을 예측하였다. 또한 절삭속도의 결 정에 있어서는 경제적 절삭속도 예측모델을 설정하여 가공비를 최소로 하는 절삭속도 를 선정토록 하였다.
