Efficient representation of video features for VCM (VCM 을 위한 비디오 특징의 효율적인 표현 기법)

  • 방대한 비디오 데이터의 지능형 분석을 수행하는 기계를 위한 비디오 부호화 기술의 필요성이 대두되면서 MPEG 에서는 VCM(Video Coding for Machine) 표준화를 시작하였다. VCM 은 지능형 머신(machine)의 임무 수행을 위한 비디오 또는 비디오 특징(feature)의 압축 표준 기술로 기술 탐색 단계의 표준화를 진행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 머신비전(machine vision) 네트워크에서 추출되는 대용량의 특징 압축을 위한 전처리 단계로 보다 효과적인 특징 표현 방법을 제시한다. 제안하는 특징 표현 방법은 정규화, 양자화 과정을 거쳐 특징 데이터 크기를 감소시킨다. 실험에서 특징을 4 개의 값으로 양자화 했을 때, 원본 대비 16 배의 데이터 크기가 감소되지만 mAP 평가 성능은 35.4592 로 높은 수준으로 유지함을 확인하였다.

Design and Fabrication for the Development of the Distributed Auto Edging Machine (보급형 자동옥습기 개발을 위한 설계 및 제작)

  • Purpose: To design and fabricate the distributed auto edging machine for the development. Methods: We got the necessary data needed in design by using CAD. Based on the these data, we fabricated the trial product for the development of the distributed auto edging machine. Results: The patternless mode could be operated by receiving the eyesize data from the auto lay-outer with the RS232C transmission system and the pattern mode could be operated by setting the pattern on the left side of the machine. The distributed auto edging machine were composed with combinations of many elements; head, auto arm, pattern clamp and grinding wheels. The head part controlled the grinding of ophthalmic lens by operating the vertical and horizontal motors. The wheels part was comprised of glass mode, plastic mode, V-bevel mode and polish mode. The slide in the auto arm was equipped on the below of the patten and the slide could hold up the pattern which was rotated by fixed shaft. The pattern clamp could move the head part to the up and down or right or left way by the manual operation of optometrists. Conclusions: We could succeed in making the trial product by applying it to the development of the distributed auto edging machine which could be used as the patternless mode and pattern mode, selectively. Therefore, it was confidently expected that this product was very helpful for the optometrists to dispense the ophthalmic lens because of its cost-efficiency and convenience.

Terrain Cover Classification Technique Based on Support Vector Machine (Support Vector Machine 기반 지형분류 기법)

  • For effective mobility control of UGV(unmanned ground vehicle), the terrain cover classification is an important component as well as terrain geometry recognition and obstacle detection. The vision based terrain cover classification algorithm consists of pre-processing, feature extraction, classification and post-processing. In this paper, we present a method to classify terrain covers based on the color and texture information. The color space conversion is performed for the pre-processing, the wavelet transform is applied for feature extraction, and the SVM(support vector machine) is applied for the classifier. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has a promising classification performance.

A Study on Improvement of Vision Inspector for T Type Welding nut auto Sorting System using a Masked Histogram Equalization (마스크 히스토그램 평준화를 이용한 T형 용접너트 자동 선별시스템의 비전검사기 성능개선에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a improvement method of vision inspector for T type welding nut using an auto sorting system. We used edge and thread detection with histogram of image which is captured by machine vision camera. We also used a binary morphology operation for a detection of spot. A major problem in this vision inspector is abnormal operation caused by degradation of image acquired. These degradations caused by oil pollution on conveyer belt. For overcome this problem, we introduce a pre-processing using a masked histogram equalization on the image acquired. Histogram equalization is applied on masked region (nut part) for increase contrast. As a result, we can remove features caused by oil pollution on background and reduce a ratio of abnormal operation from 10.0 % to 0.2 %.

Development of an FPGA-based Sealer Coating Inspection Vision System for Automotive Glass Assembly Automation Equipment (자동차 글라스 조립 자동화설비를 위한 FPGA기반 실러 도포검사 비전시스템 개발)

  • In this study, an FPGA-based sealer inspection system was developed to inspect the sealer applied to install vehicle glass on a car body. The sealer is a liquid or paste-like material that promotes adhesion such as sealing and waterproofing for mounting and assembling vehicle parts to a car body. The system installed in the existing vehicle design parts line does not detect the sealer in the glass rotation section and takes a long time to process. This study developed a line laser camera sensor and an FPGA vision signal processing module to solve this problem. The line laser camera sensor was developed such that the resolution and speed of the camera for data acquisition could be modified according to the irradiation angle of the laser. Furthermore, it was developed considering the mountability of the entire system to prevent interference with the sealer ejection machine. In addition, a vision signal processing module was developed using the Zynq-7020 FPGA chip to improve the processing speed of the algorithm that converted the profile to the sealer shape image acquired from a 2D camera and calculated the width and height of the sealer using the converted profile. The performance of the developed sealer application inspection system was verified by establishing an experimental environment identical to that of an actual automobile production line. The experimental results confirmed the performance of the sealer application inspection at a level that satisfied the requirements of automotive field standards.

  • This paper discusses the method of vision based sensor fusion system for biped robot walking. Most researches on biped walking robot have mostly focused on walking algorithm itself. However, developing vision systems for biped walking robot is an important and urgent issue since biped walking robots are ultimately developed not only for researches but to be utilized in real life. In the research, systems for environment recognition and tele-operation have been developed for task assignment and execution of biped robot as well as for human robot interaction (HRI) system. For carrying out certain tasks, an object tracking system using modified optical flow algorithm and obstacle recognition system using enhanced template matching and hierarchical support vector machine algorithm by wireless vision camera are implemented with sensor fusion system using other sensors installed in a biped walking robot. Also systems for robot manipulating and communication with user have been developed for robot.

  • This paper introduces a new digitization method with sensor fusion for shape measurement in reverse engineering. Digitization can be classified into contact and non-contact type according to the measurement devices. Important thing in digitization is speed and accuracy. The former is excellent in speed and the latter is good for accuracy. Sensor fusion in digitization intends to incorporate the merits of both types so that the system can be automatized. Firstly, non-contact sensor with vision system acquires coarse 3D point data rapidly. This process is needed to identify and loco]ice the object located at unknown position on the table. Secondly, accurate 3D point data can be automatically obtained using scanning probe based on the previously measured coarse 3D point data. In the research, a great number of measuring points of equi-distance were instructed along the line acquired by the vision system. Finally, the digitized 3D point data are approximated to the rational B-spline surface equation, and the free-formed surface information can be transferred to a commercial CAD/CAM system via IGES translation in order to machine the modeled geometric shape.

  • This paper introduces a new concept of automation for bio-production with tele-operative system. The proposed system showed practical and feasible way of automation for the volatile bio-production process. Based on the proposition, recognition of the job environment with object identification was performed using computer vision system. A man-machine interactive hybrid decision-making, which utilized a concept of tele-operation was proposed to overcome limitations of the capability of computer in image processing and feature extraction from the complex environment image. Identifying watermelons from the outdoor scene of the cultivation field was selected to realize the proposed concept. Identifying watermelon from the camera image of the outdoor cultivation field is very difficult because of the ambiguity among stems, leaves, shades, and especially fruits covered partly by leaves or stems. The analog signal of the outdoor image was captured and transmitted wireless to the host computer by R.F module. The localized window was formed from the outdoor image by pointing to the touch screen. And then a sequence of algorithms to identify the location and size of the watermelon was performed with the local window image. The effect of the light reflectance of fruits, stems, ground, and leaves were also investigated.

  • In unmanned machining, One of the most essential issue is the tool management system which includes controlling. identification, presetting and monitoring of cutting tools. Especially the monitoring of tool wear and fracture may be the heart of the system. In this study a computer vision based tool monitoring system is developed. Also an algorithm which can determine the tool condition using this system is presented. In order to enhance practical adaptability the vision system through which two modes of images are taken is located over the rake face of a tool insert. And they are analysed quantitatively and qualitatively with image processing technique. In fact the morphologies of tool fracture or wear are occurred so variously that it is difficult to predict them. For the purpose of this problem the pattern recognition is introduced to classify the modes of the tool such as fracture, crater, chipping and flank wear. The experimental results performed in the CNC turning machine have proved the effectiveness of the proposed system.

A study on the development of gas measurement system in shoes mold and automatic gas-vent exchange machine with computer vision (신발금형의 가스 배출량 측정 장치와 영상정보를 이용한 가스벤트 자동 교환 시스템의 개발)

  • This paper presents a gas measurement system for deciding hole positions on a PU middle-sole mold from computed gas amount. The optimal number of holes and their positions on the shoe mold are decided from statistical experiment results to overcome the problem of excessive expenses in gas vent exchange. This paper also describes a gas vent exchange mechanism using computer vision system. The gas hole detecting process is based on computer vision algorithms represented as a simple Pattern Matching. The experimental result showed us that the system was useful to calculate the number of holes and their positions on the shoes mold.
