A Novel Arithmetic Unit Over GF(2$^{m}$) for Reconfigurable Hardware Implementation of the Elliptic Curve Cryptographic Processor (타원곡선 암호프로세서의 재구성형 하드웨어 구현을 위한 GF(2$^{m}$)상의 새로운 연산기)

  • In order to solve the well-known drawback of reduced flexibility that is associate with ASIC implementations, this paper proposes a novel arithmetic unit over GF(2$^{m}$ ) for field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) implementations of elliptic curve cryptographic processor. The proposed arithmetic unit is based on the binary extended GCD algorithm and the MSB-first multiplication scheme, and designed as systolic architecture to remove global signals broadcasting. The proposed architecture can perform both division and multiplication in GF(2$^{m}$ ). In other word, when input data come in continuously, it produces division results at a rate of one per m clock cycles after an initial delay of 5m-2 in division mode and multiplication results at a rate of one per m clock cycles after an initial delay of 3m in multiplication mode respectively. Analysis shows that while previously proposed dividers have area complexity of Ο(m$^2$) or Ο(mㆍ(log$_2$$^{m}$ )), the Proposed architecture has area complexity of Ο(m), In addition, the proposed architecture has significantly less computational delay time compared with the divider which has area complexity of Ο(mㆍ(log$_2$$^{m}$ )). FPGA implementation results of the proposed arithmetic unit, in which Altera's EP2A70F1508C-7 was used as the target device, show that it ran at maximum 121MHz and utilized 52% of the chip area in GF(2$^{571}$ ). Therefore, when elliptic curve cryptographic processor is implemented on FPGAs, the proposed arithmetic unit is well suited for both division and multiplication circuit.

A New Complexity Analysis of the SymMerge Algorithm (SymMerge 알고리즘의 새로운 복잡도 분석)

  • The SymMerge algorithm is an efficient merging algorithm for input sequences u and v of sizes $\left|u \right|=m$ and $\left|v \right|=n$, $m{\leq}n$. We consider complexity analysis for SymMerge algorithm regarding to the required number of comparisons. The focus of the previous complexity analysis was on finding the values of upper bounds, i.e. showing the asymptotical optimality. In this paper, in a different way from the previous complexity analysis, we show that the overall required number of comparisons for two representative special cases "symmetric case" and "maximum spanning case" can be calculated exactly i.e. the least upper bounds regarding to the required number of comparisons are calculated. Symmerge requires exactly $m\;log\frac{n}{m}+4m-logm-3$ comparisons for symmetric case of sizes $m=2^k,\;n=2^l,l{\geq}k$ of input sequences and exactly $\frac{1}{2}m^2+(m+1)logm-\frac{3}{2}m+2$ comparisons for maximum spanning case of sizes $m=2^k,n=2^m-m$ of input sequences. Additionally we show that the complexity of the Symmerge algorithm regarding to the overall required number of comparisons for these special cases can be defined by recurrence relations.

Effects of Zinc on Spontaneous Miniature GABA Release in Rat Hippocampal CA3 Pyramidal Neurons

  • The effects of $Zn^{2+}$ on spontaneous glutamate and GABA release were tested in mechanically dissociated rat CA3 pyramidal neurons which retained functional presynaptic nerve terminals. The spontaneous miniature excitatory and inhibitory postsynaptic currents (mEPSCs and mIPSCs, respectively) were pharmacologically isolated and recorded using whole-cell patch clamp technique under voltage-clamp conditions. $Zn^{2+}$ at a lower concentration $(30{\mu}M)$ increased GABAergic mIPSC frequency without affecting mIPSC amplitude, but it decreased both mIPSC frequency and amplitude at higher concentrations $({\ge}300{\mu}M)$. In contrast, $Zn^{2+}$ (3 to $100{\mu}M$) did not affect glutamatergic mEPSCs, although it slightly decreased both mIPSC frequency and amplitude at $300{\mu}M$ concentration. Facilitatory effect of $Zn^{2+}$ on GABAergic mIPSC frequency was occluded either in $Ca^{2+}$-free external solution or in the presence of $100{\mu}M$ 4-aminopyridine, a non-selective $K^{+}$ channel blocker. The results suggest that $Zn^{2+}$ at lower concentrations depolarizes GABAergic nerve terminals by blocking $K^{+}$ channels and increases the probability of spontaneous GABA release. This $Zn^{2+}$-mediated modulation of spontaneous GABAergic transmission is likely to play an important role in the regulation of neuronal excitability within the hippocampal CA3 area.

  • 사물지능통신(Machine to Machine, M2M) 기술이 부각됨에 따라, 기존의 통신에 비해 사용되는 단말의 수가 점점 증가하고 있다. 따라서 다수의 단말로부터 전송하는 데이터가 이동통신 네트워크를 이용함에 있어 트래픽이 한계상황에 도달하여 원활하지 못한 통신망 운용을 초래할 수 있다. 본 연구는 M2M 통신 시 사용하게 될 이동통신망에 대한 효율적인 자원할당에 대한 스케줄링 방안을 제시한다. 이러한 스케줄링 방안은 트래픽이 급증하게 된 네트워크 망에서 우선적으로 처리해야 될 M2M 통신의 순위를 결정짓는데 사용 될 것이며 M2M 기술이 더욱 발전하게 되어 점차 소형화 되는 사물들이 많아짐에 따라 폭증하게 될 이동통신망의 데이터 트래픽에서 여러 가지 상황을 해결하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

Effect of Calcium Inhibitors on Mouse Oocyte Maturation ($Ca^{2+}$ Inhibitor가 생쥐난자 성숙에 미치는 영향)

  • In the present study, it was aimed to find the role of calcium on the maturation of mouse follicular oocytes as well as for the role of calcium inhibitors, $Ni^{2+}$ and $La^{3+}$. Mouse follicular oocytes were cultivated in different media at $37^{\circ}C$, in 100% humidified $CO_2$ incubator for 3 and 17 hrs. The results were as follows; 1. There was no differences in GVBD between the control and experimental groups during the 3 hr culture. 2. Mouse oocytes were matured to higher rate in MHBS rather than HTF for 17 hr culture. 3. Maturation rate was significantly lower in $Ca^{2+}$-free and $Ca^{2+}$ 0.4 mM which were tested, compared to other calcium concentration used in the present study. 4. Calcium inhibitor, $Ni^{2+}$, it showed highest degeneration rate at all calcium concentrations and additionally in $Ni^{2+}$ $100{\mu}M$ treated group next. Maturation rate was significantly decrease as the $Ca^{2+}$ inhibitor concentration increased. 5. In all Lanthanum treated groups of calcium-free, degeneration were significantly high treated groups at 0.4 mM $Ca^{2+}$ concentrations degeneration rates of all group were significantly lower than that of the control but maturation rates were not significantly different in any group. In lanthanum $100{\mu}M$ treated group at 0.4 mM and 0.8 mM calcium concentration, its maturation rate was significantly higher than that of the control. Maturation rates of all groups of lanthanum treated at 1.71 mM calcium concentration were not significantly different among groups. 6. In the calcium treated group (0.4mM-1.7 mM), the presence of phosphate does not seem to be needed for oocyte maturation. However, the presence of phosphate at $Ca^{2+}$ 0.8 mM only seems to stimulated maturation.

Studies on the Survival Rates after Ultrarapidly Frozen-Thawing of Porcine Embryos (돼지 수정난의 초급속 동결 융해후의 생존성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of concentration and equilibration time of cryoprotective agents on the survival rate of slowly and ultrarapidly frozen porcine embryos. The porcine embryos following dehydration by cryoprotective agents and a various concentration of sucrose were directly plunged into liquid nitrogen and thawed in 38$^{\circ}C$ water bath. Survival rate was defined as development rat to the morula and blastocyst stage after in vitro culture or by FDA test. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The survival rates of porcine embryos after ultrarapid frozen-thawing in the freezing medium of 0.25M sucrose added 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, or 4.0M glycerol was 65.3, 61.8, 64.3, 59.4 or 39.4%, respectively. Addition of 0.25M sucrose into the freezing medium containing 2.0M glycerol showed higher survival rate than those of 2.5~4.0M glycerol. 2. The survival rates of porcine embryos after ultraradpid frozen-thawing in the freezing medium of 0.25M sucroese added 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0M DMSO was 65.6, 67.6, 68.6, 60.6 or 23.6%, respectively. However, addition of 0.25M sucrose into the freezing medium containing 3.0M DMSO showed higher survival rate than those of 2.0, 2.5, 3.5 or 4.0M DMSO. 3. The survival rates of porcine embryos after ultrapid frozen-thawing in the freezing medium of 0.25M sucrose added 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0M propanediol was 63.2, 60.3, 62.1, 52.3 or 24.3%, respectively. Addition of 0.25M sucroese into the freezing medium containing 2.0M propanediol showed higher survival rate than those of 2.5~4.0M glycerol. 4. The survival rates of porcine embryos after ultrarapid frozen-thawing the freezing medium of 2.0M glycerol added 0.10, 0.25, 0.50 or 0.75M sucrose was 61.8, 70.8, 67.6 or 52.2%, respectively. Addition of 2.0M glycerol into the freezing medium containing 0.25M sucreose showed higher survival rate than that those of 0.10, 0.50 or 0.75M sucrose. 5. The higher suvival rate of porcine embryos were attained at short period of equilibration time 92.5~5min.) in the freezing medium added 0.25M sucreose and 3.0M compared to those of 10 or 20min. equilibration time in the same condition.

EEM Analysis of Open-Typed Cylindrical Shieldcase (양끝이 열린 실드케이스의 FEM해석)

  • Four-shell open-typed shield case was analyzed using 3D FEM. Analysis Dimension was $2m{\times}2m{\times}2m$. Length of shield case was 0.6m and its diameter was 0.1m, 0.08., 0.06m and 0.04m. Thickness and permeablility of shield case was all 1mm and 50,000. The excited magneic fields were earth magneic fields, which were 24A/m in the holizontal direction and 36A/m in the vertical direction, respectively. During FEM analysis, shield case was located at the direction of holizontal magnetic field and was rotated $90^{\circ}$. Magnetic field was $4.45{\times}10^{-2}A/m$ at the direction of holizontal magnetic field and $6.66{\times}10^{-4}A/m$ at the $90^{\circ}$ rotated direction.

The Biochemical Characterization of D-Hydroxyisovalerate Dehydrogenase, a Key Enzyme in the Biosynthesis of Enniatins

  • The biochemical properties of purified D-hydruxyisovalerate dehydrogenase from Fusarium sambucinum was elucidated. D-Hydroxyisovalerate dehydrogenase produced solely D-hydroxyisovalerate from 2-ketoisovalerate. The isoelectric point of the purified enzyme was 7.0. The enzyme was highly specific with 2-ketoisovalerate ($K_{m}=0.188$ mM, $V_{max}=8.814$ mmol/min mg) and 2-keto-3-methyl-n-valerate ($K_{m}=0.4$ mM, $V_{max}=1.851$ mmol/min mg) for the reductive reaction. This was also seen by comparing D-hydroxyisovalerate ($K_{m}=1.667$ mM, $V_{max}=0.407$ mmol/min mg) and D-hydroxy-3-methyl-n-valerate ($K_{m}=6.7$ mM, $V_{max}=0.648$ mmol/min mg) for the oxidative reaction. Thiol blocking reagents, such as iodoacetamide, N-ethylmaleimide and p-chloromecuribenzoate inhibited about 80% of enzyme activity at 0.02 mM, 50 mM and 50 mM, respectively. The enzyme activity was also inhibited by the addition of 0.1 mM of various metal ions, such as $Fe^{2+}$ (67%), $Cu^{2+}$ (88%), $Zn^{2+}$ t (76%) and $Mg^{2+}$ (9%). The enzyme was stable over three months in 50 mM potassium phosphate buffer (pH 5~7) at $-80^{\circ}C$. However the purified enzyme lost 30% of its activity in the same buffer after 24 h at $4^{\circ}C$. The studies about thermal inactivation of D-hydroxyisovalerate dehydrogenase exhibit 209.2 kJ/M of activation enthalpy and 0.35 kJ/mol K of activation entropy.

Electrochemical Properties of LiNi1-yMyO2(M=Zn2+, Al3+, and Ti4+ Synthesized by Combustion Method (연소법으로 합성한 LiNi1-yMyO2(M=Zn2+, Al3+, and Ti4+ 전기화학적 특성)

  • $LiNi_{1-y}M_{y}O_{2}(M=Zn^{2+},\;Al^{3+},\;and\;Ti^{4+},\;0.000\{\le}y{\le}0.100)$ were synthesized by the combustion method by calcining in $O_{2}$ stream at $750^{\circ}C$ for 36 h. XRD analyses, observation by FE-SEM and measurement of the variation of discharge capacity with the number of cycles were carried out. The composition $LiNi_{0.99}M_{0.01}O_{2}(M=Zn^{2+},\;Al^{3+},\;and\;Ti^{4+})$ of all the compositions showed relatively good electrochemical properties. $LiNi_{0.99}M_{0.01}O_{2}$ exhibited poor crystallinity and $LiNi_{0.99}M_{0.01}O_{2}$ showed the cation mixing of large fraction. $LiNi_{0.99}M_{0.01}O_{2}$ with improved cycling performance showed good crystallinity and the cation mixing of small fraction.
