Conceptual Design of an HTS large power transformer with continuously transposed coated conductors

  • This paper shows results of a design work of a program that is to develop a large power single phase high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer. The program forms a part of a national project in Korea. A target of the design work is an HTS power transformer with rated voltages of 154 kV/22.9 kV and material for windings is supposed to be coated conductor. The design results presents in this paper will include: 1)HTS winding structures for high voltage in liquid nitrogen, 2)design result of continuously transposed coated conductor (CTCC), 3)conceptual design of high voltage bushings, 4)cooling system. A feasibility study will succeed to this design work for construction of a prototype HTS power transformer with capacity/voltage of 33 MVA/154 kV.

GIS의 가중네트워크에서 MVA를 결정하는 방법 (Determining the Most Vital Arcs in the Weighted Network of GIS)

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop an efficient algorithm for determining the most vital arcs in a weighted network and implement its algorithm on GIS. The most vital arcs in a weighted network of GIS is that arc whose removal from the network results in the greatest increase in shortest distance between two specified nodes. These studies are well applied to a situation where a logistics or communications network is broken by unexpected accidents. Because a user of the system wants to know which arcs are most vital to him so that he can reinforce them against unexpected accidents. We first present an algorithm to find the most vital arcs in a weighted network, then show that how its algorithm can be applied to a geo-spatial network.

  • The two criteria to identify the disturbances of the power transformer has been reported in this paper. They have been derived through EMTP simulations of internal faults, inrush and overexcitation for the model of 154/22.9[kV], 40[MVA], Y-Y three-phase power transformer. We propose the crisp algorithm which uses two criteria. A series of test results clearly indicate that the method can identify not only an internal fault but also the other transients. The average of relay operation times is about 7.2[ms]. The proposed algorithm immunes to the transient state.

  • A zero voltage switching (ZVS) three level auxiliary resonant commutated pole inverter (ARCPI) is presented for high power GTO inverters. The concept of ARCP for two level inverter is extended to the three inverter. The proposed auxiliary commutation circuit consists of one resonant inductor and two bi-directional switches, which provides ZVS condition to the main devices without increasing device voltage or current stresses. The auxiliary device operates with zero current switching (ZCS) which enables use of the low cost thyristors. The proposed ARCPI can handle higher voltage and higher power (1-10MVA) comparing to the two level one. Operation and analysis of the ARCPI are illustrated and the features are compared o those of the snubber circuit incorporated three level inverter. Experimental results with 10kW, 4kHz prototype are presented to verify the principle of operation. (author). refs., figs., tab.

  • Partial discharge(PD) tests were performed when the hydrogenerator(rated 11kV and 25MVA) was shut down(off-line). Six cable couplers were installed in the ring bus as well as within hydrogenerator terminal box. PD tests were conducted using partial discharge analyzer(PDA) and digital partial discharge detector(PDD). PDA showed that the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the partial discharge magnitude increased with increase of ac voltage. Slot discharges were discovered in three phases(A, B and C) at the rated voltage. PDA and PDD test results are in accordance with the pattern and magnitude of partial discharge. This hydrogenerator stator windings were in good condition.

  • The objective of this paper is to compare the series and shunt approaches of controlled reactive power compensation to improve power system transient stabilities. Including main circuit considerations of series and shunt compensators, application aspects are thought to have major impacts on efficiency and economy of the installation of the compensators. The concept is studied by means of EMTP simulations on one machine-Infinite Bus Test System which consists of a 612MVA steam turbin generator and transformer and double circuit 345KV transmission line. Idealized dynamic models of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensation and Shunt Compensation are used for the comparative study of the series and shunt compensation approach to damp power system oscillations.

  • A systematic procedure for the elements of system matrix in multimachine systems with loads is suggested for the small-signal stability studies. Synchronous machines are represented by either a two-axis model or classical model. The interrelationship of submatrices of system matrix is investigated. Once elements of one submatrix are determined, they can be used to calculate the elements of the other submatrix. It is illustrated for three machine and nine bus multimachine systems with constant impedance loads, constant MVA load, constant current and power factors.

  • 본 연구에서는 전력계통에서 발생되는 surge나 고장전류에 의해서 변압기의 고압측 코일에 유도되는 전자력의 크기를 유한요소 전자계해석 프로그램(FLUX2D)의 축대칭FEM을 이용하여 해석하였다. 1MVA, 22900/220(V) 단상 외철형 Cable형 변압기의 권선의 각방향의 전자력을 분석하고, 변압기 권선의 고유진동mode를 Transfer Matrix Method를 이용하여 Cable형권선의 고유진동주파수를 파악하고 ANSYS와 비교하였다. 변압기 권선의 전자력과 진동mode 분석결과는 변압기의 절연설계 및 단락기계력에 대한 프레임 구조 설계를 위한 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 순간전압조정, 역률 보상, 고조파 저감에 대한 배전용 정지형 동기조상기(STATCOM : STATic COMpensator)에 대한 다양한 제어 모드를 제안하고 있다. 이러한 제어 알고리즘의 성능을 검증하기 위해 각 제어 알고리즘을 20kVA의 축소형 STATCOM에 적용하고 간단한 배전계통을 꾸며 시험하였다. 실험결과로부터 제안한 제어알고리즘이 Custom Power 시스템으로 훌륭한 성능을 보임을 확인할 수 있었다. 실재 배전계통에 적용하여 현재 1MVA STATCOM이 성공적으로 운전되고 있다.

  • 최근 산업계에 적용되는 인버터의 경우 그 용량이 수MVA에서 수십MVA에 이르기까지 그 시스템이 점차 고압 대용화 되어가는 추세이다. 단일 인버터로 용량을 확대하기 위해서는 적용 가능한 Power소자의 한계가 있을 뿐 아니라 제품개발 기간과 제품라인업의 효율성을 증대하기 위해 기존의 인버터를 이용한 병렬운전 방법이 보다 효과적일 수 있다. 고압인버터의 병렬 운전을 위해서는 두 단위 인버터의 출력전압이 그 크기와 위상이 동일해야 하고 그에 따라 동일한 출력전류가 병렬 리액터를 거쳐 모터로 유입되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 실제 6600V 5MVA 인버터 2Set를 병렬 시스템으로 구성하였으며 인버터 출력전압 동기 알고리즘을 구현하고 그 타당성을 시험을 통해 검증하였다.
