백터제어를 적용한 전동차 구동 시스템 개발 (Development of Driving System for Railway Vehicle using Vector Control)

  • 본 논문은 백터제어기법을 적용한 철도차량용 1.2MVA전동차 구동시스템의 개발에 관한 것이다. 벡터제어를 위해서는 출력 전압의 크기와 위상을 순시적으로 제어해야한다. 전동차 구동시스템에서는 DC링크 단의 전압 이용률을 최대로 하기 위해 고속 운전 영역에서는 1펄스 모드를 사용한다. 따라서 고속 운전 영역에서는 토크성분 전류와 지송성분 전류를 독립적으로 술시 에어해야 하는 백터제어기법을 정용할 수 없다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 저속이 운전영역에서는 순시 토크 제어가 가능한 벡터제어를 적용하고, 고속 운전 영역에서는 슬립 주파수제어를 적용하는, 백터 제어와 스칼라 제어의 병용제어 기법을 제안하였다. 또한 운전영역에 따라 이들 두 제어방법이 부드럽게 전환되도록 하는 제어기법이 제시되었다. 제안되 제어기법을 4대의 210kW 유도전동기를 구동하는 1.2MVA 전동차 견인 구동시스템에 적용하여 그 효용성을 알아보았다.

3,300V 1MVA H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터 개발 (Development of 3,300V 1MVA Multilevel Inverter using Series H-Bridge Cell)

  • 본 논문에서는 고압 대용량 전동기 구동용 멀티레벨 인버터의 종류 및 특징을 간략히 살펴보고, 특히 입출력 전력품질이 우수하고 전압별 시리즈화가 용이한 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터의 구조적 특징 및 장점을 기술하였다. 연구 개발된 3,300V lMVA 용량의 Cascaded H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터의 구체적인 전력회로 구조 및 설계방법, 제어기 구성 그리고 PWM 기법을 제시하였다. 또한, 실용량의 시험을 통해 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터는 출력 전압 Step이 여러 단계이고 dv/dt가 적으며 입력단 THD를 크게 낮출 수 있어 성능 면에서도 여타 방식보다 우수함을 입증하였다. 또한 생산적인 측면에서도 저압 소자를 사용하여 설계하므로 기존의 생산/시험 기술과 설비를 이용할 수 있어 매우 경제적이며 Power Cell 단위 결합 구조이므로 신뢰성 측면이나 보수/유지 측면에서도 유리하다는 결론을 얻었다.

Insulation Test for the 22.9 kV Class HTS Power Transmission Cable

  • HTS power transmission cable is expected to transport large electric power with a compact size. We are developing a 3-core, 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power cable, and each core consists of a conductor and shield wound with Bi-2223 tapes, electrical insulation with laminated polypropylene paper (LPP) impregnated with liquid nitrogen. This paper describes the design and experimental results of the model cable for the 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power transmission cable. The model cable was used the SUS tapes instead of HTS tapes because of testing the electrical characteristics only. The model cable was 1.3 m long and electrical insulation thickness was 4.5 mm. The model cable was evaluated the partial discharge (PD), AC and Impulse withstand voltage in liquid nitrogen. The AC and Impulse withstands voltage and PD inception stress was satisfied with the standard of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in the test results. The 3-core 22.9 kV, 50 MVA class HTS power cable has been designed and manufactured based on these experimental results.

Magnetic Field Analysis of 1 MVA HTS Transformer Windings

  • In a HTS transformer, the perpendicular component of magnetic flux density ($B_r$) applied to HTS tapes of pancake windings becomes larger than that of solenoid winding, thereby decreasing the critical current in the HTS tapes. This paper introduces several methods to reduce $B_r$ applied to the HTS tapes in the transformer with double pancake windings by changing winding arrangements and the relative permeability of flux diverters. We have conducted a winding design for a single-phase 1MVA 22.9kV/6.6kV HTS transformer. We observed a change of $B_r$ due to a variation of gap-length between the high voltage windings and the low voltage windings, reciprocal arrangement and an increase of the number of the high voltage pancake. We also observed a change of Br on the HTS tapes due to variation of the relative permeability of flux diverters placed between the high voltage winding and the low voltage winding. Finally, we have designed a 1MVA 22.9kV/6.6kV HTS transformer winding using suggested methods and calculated transformer parameters by the 3D finite element method.

  • Since the year 2008, the first demonstration project of the superconducting cable for the KEPCO grid operation has been in progress. To apply the HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) cable system into the commercial network, a new test complex was built in the 154kV Icheon substation and the on site assembly of 22.9kV, 50MVA HTS cable with the cryogenic refrigeration system was finished. A full scale of HTS cable fabricated with 2nd generation wire is to be in service in KEPCO network. In this paper, a series of processes of the installation and operation test are introduced.

  • As national power consumption every year increases, the power plant which is in the process of planning tries to establish high-capacity generator. The power system tends to become a large size. With the progress of electronic components, the control systems of the generator have been digitalized and rapid-response control system is possible. However, the minute frequency vibration of grid occurred with the effect of rapid-response control system. To solve these problem, PPS(Power System Stability) has been introduced since 2004, and it has being installed and applied to the thermal and nuclear power plant which are high-capacity, over 800MVA. However the minute frequency vibration is gradually changed to the bigger frequency vibration by fast-action control system, and this regional frequency fluctuation might be diffused wide area. Therefore, it is applied to the hydro generator which is small with fast-action governor system, and it is necessary to control the minute frequency vibration to prevent to diffuse. In this paper, the effect will be proved by establishing PSS on the Hydro-Generator which has both digital excitation and governor system for the first time in Korea.

Selection of Transformer for the Augmentation of an Existing AIS EHV Substation in Hilly Terrain at 3000m+ Altitude

  • Augmentation of existing EHV substations located in hilly terrain and at high altitude require many different considerations as compared to substations located in plain areas and at lower altitude. Owing to high altitude and steep terrain, meticulous engineering and preparations are required, considering the actual available space at the existing substation. Historical fault events too must be considered to enhance reliability and performance of the substation equipment. This paper proposes ways to augment the existing 2 banks of 20MVA, 220/66kV power transformers ($3{\times}6.67MVA$, single-phase) to $2{\times}50$/63MVA, 220/66kV power transformers to meet continuously increasing demand of the capital city over the next 20 years. Upgrading and augmentation of existing substations, especially the main transformers and associated equipment, require replacement with minimum or no disturbance to the existing power supply system. Considerations should also be made during engineering and design, the operational flexibilities, maintenance aspects, future expandability and value addition, in terms of reliability and space usage of the existing substation.

FEM을 이용한 24MVA 몰드변압기의 Hot-spot 위치 분석 연구 (Analysis on the Hot-spot Temperature Location of a 24MVA Cast Resin Transformer by FEM)

  • This paper calculates the core and copper losses as heating sources of a 24MVA cast resin transformer, and analyzes the thermal distribution of the transformer to find out its hot-spot area by FEM program. Since the winding of the transformer is composed with many series and parallel circuits, the analyzing model of the winding is simplified and modelled by axi-symmetric domain. As the results, the maximum temperature is estimated by $137^{\circ}C$ in the upper part of the low-voltage winding. The maximum temperature has discrepancy of approximately $10^{\circ}C$, which is able to be considered as an acceptable error range in the design stage of power transformers. For the overall pattern of the temperature distribution is almost same as test results, the analyzing method can be a useful tool to find out a hot-spot area of the winding.

  • In this paper, the parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack for easy capacity enlargement series in the medium power capacity inverter system of the 660V voltage class is described. The parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack for 1.5MVA medium power inverter system's design is applied. The results of the parallel operation are described in this paper. The designed stack capacity for parallel operation is 800kVA class. For 1.5MVA inverter system, the 800kVA stack is applied with 2 parallel configurations. The 800kVA stack is designed with 3 parallel configurations of the IGBT Module. In this paper, the feasibility for easy capacity enlargement series in the medium power inverter by applying the parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack is verified. The experimental results show the good characteristics for the parallel operation of the IGBT and power stack.

  • Multilevel power conversion technology has received increasing attention recently for high power applications. The converters with the technology are suitable for high voltage and high power applications due to their ability to synthesize waveforms with better harmonic spectrum and apply for the high voltage equipment with a limited voltage rating of device. In the family of multilevel inverters, the topologies based on cascaded H-bridges are particularly attractive because of their modularity and simplicity of control. This paper presents multilevel inverter with cascaded H-bridge for large-power motor drives. The main features of this drive 1) reduce harmonic injection 2) can generate near-sinusoidal voltages, 3) have almost no common-mode voltage; 4) are low dv/dt at output voltage; 5)do not generate significant over-voltage on motor terminal; The topology of the developed product is presented and the feasibility study of the inverter on 3300v 1MVA 7-level H-bridge type was tarried out with experiments.
