  • Neural networks have been known to have great discriminative power in pattern classification problems. In this paper, the multilayer perceptron neural networks are employed to automatically detect laryngeal pathology in speech. Also new feature parameters are introduced which can reflect the periodicity of speech and its perturbation. These parameters and cepstral coefficients are used as input of the multilayer perceptron neural networks. According to the experiment using Korean disordered speech database, incorporation of new parameters with cepstral coefficients outperforms the case with only cepstral coefficients.

  • In this paper, we analysize the noise robustness of MLPs(Multilayer perceptrons). Also, as a preprocessing stage of MLPs to improve noise robustness, we consider the ICA(independent component analysis) and PCA(principle component analysis). After analyzing the noise redunction effect using PCA or ICA, we verify the noise robustness of MLPs through handwritten-digit recognition simulations.

  • Multilayer transparent electrodes (MTE) based on an ultrathin metal layer assisted by additional dielectric or semiconducting layers are investigated as electrodes in OLEDs including an inverted geometry. A special attention is paid to their tuning capability in injection behavior and to their potential for ultra-flexible electrodes.

  • Change of sintering shrinkage in alumina-based multilayer ceramics was observed in various lamination condi-tions and binder burnout (BBO) temperatures. It was found that the linear shrinkages in X and Y directions were nearly the same with the BBO temperatures but a large shrinkage difference in Z direction was observed. However this phenomenon was diminished when BBO temperature was increased. A linear relationship between the laminated density and the sintering shrinkage was found and the slope was independant on the BBO temperature but dependant on the shrinkage direction.

  • In the fabrication of alumina-based multilayer ceramics sintering shrinkages with lamination conditions such as lamination pressure temperature and laminating with and without press die were compared. The sintering shrinkage was affected substantially by lamination pressure and temperature and in the case of laminatino without press die the lower laminated density and a large difference in shrinkage with direction were observed. These results can be explained by introducing a new factor which is the ratio of the changes of areas before and after lamination.

  • The periodic multilayer is considered as the X-ray reflection mirror. High X-ray reflectivity from the incident angle greater than the grazing critical angle can be obtained by the periodic multilayer structure. The Optical constants are investigated in order to determine the material for X-ray reflection mirror. The X-ray reflection mirror is designed for W, Si using computer simulation. The reflectivity is calculated for various incident angles and ratio of thickness.

  • The LTCC bandpass filter using multilayer resonators is made of combline type and interdigital type parallel coupled-lines. The equivalent circuits of parallel coupled-lines are analysed. They are applied to make an equivalent circuit of LTCC bandpass filter using multilayer resonators. The 3-pole bandpass filter of the center frequency of 2.45GHz with 250Hz bandwidth is designed and fabricated. The simulated result of the bandpass filter are presented.

  • This paper present a new sort of multilayer piezoelectric ceramic transformer for AC-adapt. This piezoelectric transformer operates n the second thickness extensional vibration mode. The output voltage of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer was simulated using ANSYS. As results, the maximum stress appeared at the two points where one is the middle of input and the other is middle of output side in Second thickness extensional vibration mode. And output voltage was inversely decreased by increasing number of output layers.

  • Lee, et al. (1999) proposed a unique but universal robust objective function replacing the square objective function for the radial basis function network, and demonstrated some advantages. In this article, the robust objective function in Lee, et al. (1999) is adapted for a multilayer perceptron (MLP). The shape of the robust objective function is formed by the scale parameter. Another method of determining a proper value of that parameter is proposed.

  • Modified self-assembled $TiO_2$ and polyelectrolyte multilayer film have been used as OTFT insulator. Both films were used as gate insulator and their thickness were reduced to the order of 10nm. The operating voltage of OTFT was substantially reduced due to nanoscale thickness of titanium oxide and polyelectrolyte multilayer. Pentacene-based OTFT characteristics will be discussed.
