  • To improve the biofunctional properties of silk fibroin membranes, 2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl-2-(trimethylammonium)ethyl phosphate(MTP), which is a methacrylate with phospholipid polar groups grafted and poly(MTP-co-BMA) was coated on the surface of silk fibroin membranes. The permeability and biocompatibility of silk fibroin membranes with phosphoryl choline group were investigated. The permeability of a salt(NaCl) was increased with grafting by MTP. Futhermore, the poly(MTP-co-BMA)-coated silk fibroin membranes displayed less blood cell adhesion than the silk fibroin membranes.

  • To improve the blood compatibility of chitosan membranes, 2-(methacryloyloxy)-ethyl-2-(trimethylammonium)ethyl phosphate(MTP), which is a methacrylate with phospholipid polar groups, was grafted on the surface of chitosan membranes and the biocompatibility of MTP-grafted chitosan membranes was investigated. The permeation coefficient gradually decreased with increasing in molecular weights of biocomponents below 10$^{4}$, and drastically decreased above 10$^{4}$. This result corresponds with the permeability of solutes in case of hemodialysis membranes. The MTP-grafted chitosan membranes displayed less blood cell adhesion than the chitosan membranes. This may due to the formation of biomembrane4ike surface by adsorption and arrangement of phospholipid molecules from serum onto the MTP copolymer surface.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine changes in spatiotemporal gait parameters(STGPs) in healthy adults before and after a immediate intervention of a Mulligan taping program(MTP). Methods : A total of 12 healthy adults(mean age, 20.82 years; age range, 19-24 years) participated in the study. performance was assessed by recording changes in the STGPs using GaitRite. comparisons of changes in the STGPs at pre-intervention and at dischange were analyzed using the Wilcox signed rank test and Mann-Whithney U test. Results : There was a significant improvement in the outcome measures of STGPs(stride length, velocity) after immediate of MTP(p<0.05). However, no significant different pre-test and post-test step width, toe angle(p>0.05). Conclusion : Participants in a MTP improves STGPs, thereby increasing the ability of healthy adults to maintain gait. MTP appears to be a safe and efficacious, noninvasive treatment modality for patients with knee joint disease.

  • In this study, the effects of $Ca^{2+}$ and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) on microsomal triglyceride (TG) transfer protein (MTP) activity were investigated in rat liver. MTP activity was high when liver contained low levels of cAMP, which was induced by administration of glucose, or high levels of total $Ca^{2+}$ and TG. However, MTP activity increased by high levels of $Ca^{2+}$ and TG was reduced in a dose-dependent manner by treatment with dibutyryl-cAMP (db-cAMP), a cAMP analogue. Conversely, when homogenates of liver from normal rats, with low levels of total $Ca^{2+}$ and high levels of cAMP, were incubated with thapsigargin, a $Ca^{2+}$-inducer, MTP activity was increased in a dose-dependent manner compared to control. Therefore, our results suggest that high levels of $Ca^{2+}$ cause hypertriglyceridemia through the elevation of MTP activity, as opposed to high levels of cAMP, which suppress MTP activity and inhibit hypertriglyceridemia.

  • This dissertation deals with the design and VLSI implementation of the MTP(Multimedia Transport Protocol) protocol for the high speed networks. High throughput, functional diversity and flexible adaptation are key requirements for the future transport protocol. However it is very difficult to satisfy all these requirements simultaneously. Fortunately, the future networks will be very reliable. It means that the future transport protocol will usually perform some fixed functions without the protocol state information. According to this concept, we proposed and designed the MTP protocol that is consisted of Information Plane and Control Plane. Information Plane performs some fixed functions that are independent of the protocol state information as far as no error. However Control Plane manages the protocol state information and controls the operation of Information Plane. Our MTP protocol was finally implemented as an FPGA chip using the VHDL. We built a testbed for verification of the implemented protocol, and it was shown that the MTP protocol worked correctly and made a throughput of about 800 Mbps. Our future works include the addition of multiplexing and multicasting capabilities to our protocol for multimedia applications.

  • We investigated the effect of chicory (Chicorium intybus) extract on triglyceride concentration and microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) activity in rats. The effect of water-soluble extract of chicory fed at the $2.0\%\;and\;4.0\%(w/w)$ levels for 2 weeks on the concentration of serum triglyceride and the activity of hepatic microsomal riglyceride transfer protein (MTP) was investigated in male Sprague-Dawley rats. The triglyceride concentrations in serum of the chicory extract fed groups were significantly lower than in the control group. MTP activity, known to be essential for the assembly/secretion of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins, was also significantly lower in the chicory extract groups than in the control group. The concentrations of other lipids in serum and liver and the activity of phosphatidate phosphohydrolase, the rate-limiting enzyme in triglyceride synthesis, showed no significant differences among in the chicory fed groups. These results indicate that dietary chicory extract decrease hepatic MTP activity and serum triglyceride concentration, and therefore reduces hepatic lipoprotein assembly and secretion.

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze body stability Joint coordination pattern though as bending stiffness of shoes during stance phase of running. Method: 47 male subjects (Age: 26.33 ± 2.11 years, Height: 177.32 ± 4.31 cm, Weight: 65.8 ± 3.87 kg) participated in this study. All subjects tested wearing the same type of running shoes by classifying bending stiffness (A shoes: 3.2~4.1 N, B shoes: 9.25~10.53 N, C shoes: 20.22~21.59 N). They ran 10 m at 3.3 m/s (SD ±3%) speed, and the speed was monitored by installing a speedometer at 3 m intervals between force plate, and the measured data were analyzed five times. During running, ankle joint, MTP joint, coupling angle, inclination angle (anterior-posterior, medial-lateral) was collected and analyzed. Vector coding methods were used to calculate vector angle of 2 joint couples during running: MTP-Ankle joint frontal plane. All analyses were performed with SPSS 21.0 and for repeated measured ANOVA and Post-hoc was Bonferroni. Results: Results indicated that there was an interaction between three shoes and phases for MTP (Metatarsalphalangeal) joint angle (p = .045), the phases in the three shoes showed difference with heel strike~impact peak (p1) (p = .000), impact peak~active peak (p2) (p = .002), from active peak to half the distance to take-off until take-off (p4) (p = .032) except for active peak~from active peak to half the distance to take-off (p3) (p = .155). ML IA (medial-lateral inclination angle) for C shoes was increased than other shoes. The coupling angle of ankle angle and MTP joint showed that there was significantly difference of p2 (p = .005), p4 (p = .045), and the characteristics of C shoes were that single-joint pattern (ankle-phase, MTP-phase) was shown in each phase. Conclusion: In conclusion, by wearing high bending stiffness shoes, their body instability was increased during running.

  • In literature, several strong designated verifier signature (SDVS) schemes have been devised using elliptic curve bilinear pairing and map-topoint (MTP) hash function. The bilinear pairing requires a super-singular elliptic curve group having large number of elements and the relative computation cost of it is approximately two to three times higher than that of elliptic curve point multiplication, which indicates that bilinear pairing is an expensive operation. Moreover, the MTP function, which maps a user identity into an elliptic curve point, is more expensive than an elliptic curve scalar point multiplication. Hence, the SDVS schemes from bilinear pairing and MTP hash function are not efficient in real environments. Thus, a cost-efficient SDVS scheme using elliptic curve cryptography with pairingfree operation is proposed in this paper that instead of MTP hash function uses a general cryptographic hash function. The security analysis shows that our scheme is secure in the random oracle model with the hardness assumption of CDH problem. In addition, the formal security validation of the proposed scheme is done using AVISPA tool (Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications) that demonstrated that our scheme is unforgeable against passive and active attacks. Our scheme also satisfies the different properties of an SDVS scheme including strongness, source hiding, non-transferability and unforgeability. The comparison of our scheme with others are given, which shows that it outperforms in terms of security, computation cost and bandwidth requirement.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the immediate effects of upper trapezius muscle stretching in more tensed position (MTP) and less tensed position (LTP) on the change of range of motion (ROM) for neck rotation, and the ROM for conjunct neck motions at end-range of neck rotation toward the painful side in patients with unilateral neck pain. Eighteen patients with unilateral neck pain were recruited for the study's MTP group, and 18 age-, weight- and gender-matched patients with unilateral neck pain were recruited for LTP group. The ROM changes in active neck primary and conjunct motions were measured using a cervical ROM inclinometer in the sitting position. Our results showed that both upper trapezius stretching method in MTP and LTP were significantly effective in increasing the ROM of neck rotation toward painful side in patients with unilateral neck pain. However, a significantly greater increase in the ROM for neck rotation and a further decrease in conjunct neck extension during neck rotation toward the painful side were shown in MTP group, compared to LTP group. The upper trapezius stretching in MTP is useful in increasing the ROM of neck rotation and decreasing the range of conjunct neck extension during neck rotation toward the painful side in patients with unilateral neck pain.

  • Purpose: The flexor hallucis longus stretch test can determine the shortness of the flexor hallucis longus muscle by measuring the angle of extension in the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint at maximum ankle dorsiflexion. Less than 30 degrees of the first MTP joint at the maximal ankle dorsiflexion indicates shortness of the flexor hallucis longus muscle. The purpose of this study was to examine the intra- and inter-reliability of the flexor hallucis longus stretch test in subjects with asymmetric hallux valgus (HV) angles. Methods: Sixteen subjects with asymmetric HV angles participated in this study. In sitting position, dorsiflexion angles of the first MTP joint were measured with maximum ankle dorsiflexion on each side. ICC (3,1) and ICC (3,k) models were used, respectively, to assess the intra-reliability and inter-reliability of the flexor hallucis longus stretch test. The paired-t test was used to compare the dorsiflexion angle of the first MTP joint on the side with the smaller HV angle with that of the side with the larger HV angle. Results: The results of the study showed that both intra- and inter-reliability were more than 0.95 of the coefficient. Dorsiflexion angle of the first MTP joint was higher on the side with the smaller HV angle. Conclusion: Use of the flexor hallucis longus stretch test is acceptable in clinical settings because both intra- and inter-reliability were high in subjects with asymmetric HV angles. In addition, shortness of the flexor hallucis longus muscle is associated with HV angle. This study provides useful information for use in management of HV deformity.
