$0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS공정을 이용한 Ka 대역 근거리 무선통신용 전력증폭기 설계 (Ka-band Power Amplifiers for Short-range Wireless Communication in $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS Process)

  • [ $0.18-{\mu}m$ ] CMOS공정을 이용하여 근거리 무선통신(22-29 GHz)에서 응용할 수 있는 전력증폭기를 설계하였다. 전도성 기판에 의한 손실을 줄이기 위해서 기판 차폐된 두 가지 형태의 전송선로를 설계하고, 40 GHz 까지 측정 및 모델링하였다. 기판 차폐 microstrip line (MSL) 전송선로의 경우 27 GHz에서 약 0.5 dB/mm의 삽입손실을 나타내었다. 기판 차폐 MSL 구조를 이용한 전력증폭기는 0.83$mm^2$의 비교적 작은 면적을 차지하면서도 27 GHz에서 14.7 dB의 소신호 이득과 14.5 dBm의 출력을 나타내었다. 기판 차폐 coplanar waveguide (CPW) 전송선로의 경우 27 GHz에서 약 1.0 dB/mm 삽입손실을 나타내었으며, 이를 이용한 전력증폭기는 26.5 GHz에서 12 dB의 소신호 이득과 12.5 dBm의 출력을 나타내었다. 본 논문의 결과는 $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS공정을 이용한 저가격의 근거리 무선통신 시스템을 구현할 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다.

낙상예방체조가 노인의 체력 변화에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Falls Prevention Exercise on Functional Fitness in Elderly)

  • Background: This study was to investigate effects of falls prevention exercise on functional fitness in elderly. Methods: A total of 45 healthy over 65years old adults (men=15, women=30) who were participated in this study. Exercise were involved in the period of 12 week complex physical training for around 50 minutes a day, three times per week. We measured subjects' physical activity levels by short physical performance battery(SPPB) test, timed up & go(TUG) test, one leg standing test(OLST) with closed eyes and maximal step length (MSL) test. Results: After falls prevention exercise, there were statically significant differences in SPPB, TUG, OLST and MSL test (P<.01) between pre and post test. There were statically significant differences in SPPB, TUG, OLST, MSL between pre and post test in men and women. There were statically significant differences between men and women in SPPB, TUG, OLST and MSL test. Conclusion: Falls prevention exercise had significant effects on physical fitness level in elderly, with a result increase muscle strength, balance ability and it might prevent falls.

밀리미터파 응용을 위해 Radial 프로브 마이크로 스트립-웨이브 가이드 광대역 천이기 (Wide Band Microstrip line-to-Rectangular Waveguide Transition Using a Radial Probe for Millimeter-wave Applications)

  • 본 논문에서는 밀리미터파 모듈 응용을 위하여 광대역 마이크로스트립-대-웨이브가이드 (WR12) 천이기가 제시된다. 대역폭의 개선을 위하여 radial 마이크로 스트립 electrical-probe가 저 손실 유기 유전체 기판 위에 설계되었다. 제안된 천이기의 삽입 및 반사손실에 대한 설계 및 측정된 특성을 나타내었다. 측정을 위한 케이블 아답터와 웨이브가이드 천이기의 손실을 고려하면, 제안된 천이기의 천이 손실이 70 및 80 GHz에서 각각 -1.88 및 -2.01 dB로 분석되었다. 제안된 천이기의 -10 dB 반사 손실 대역폭은 67GHz 에서 95 GHz로 약 26 GHz이다. 최신의 연구결과와 비교해서 대역폭에서 8.3 % 개선되었다.

  • Results of free and bound myo-inositol in infant formula (IF) are presented. Inositol was analyzed by HILIC ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometer. The levels of free myo-inositol in 27 Australian and 4 EU originated IF samples were 300-600 mg/kg of powder or 1.6-3.1 mg/100 kJ. The amount of bound inositol in lipid fraction of IF was, on average, 10% of free myo-inositol.

Determination of the Concentration and Isotope Ratio of Uranium in Soil and Water by Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry

  • Thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) was used to determine the concentration and isotope ratio of uranium contained in samples of soil and groundwater collected from Korea. Quantification of uranium in ground water samples was performed by isotope dilution mass spectrometry. A series of chemical treatment processes, including chemical separation using extraction chromatography, was applied to the soil samples to extract the uranium. No treatments other than filtration were applied to the groundwater samples. Isotopic analyses by TIMS showed that the isotope ratios of uranium in both the soil and water samples were indistinguishable from those of naturally abundant uranium. The concentration of uranium in the groundwater samples was within the U.S. acceptable standards for drinking water. These results demonstrate the utility of TIMS for monitoring uranium in environmental samples with high analytical reliability.

LC-MS/MS-based Proteomic Analysis to Identify Protein Phosphorylation in Emiliania huxleyi

  • Emiliania huxleyi is a marine phytoplankton that plays a critical role in global carbon and sulfur cycling. The genome of E. huxleyi has been sequenced, and an in-depth proteomic profile of this organism has been reported. This study analyzed the phosphoproteome of E. huxleyi and identified its changes under calcium-limited conditions. A TiO2 microcolumn was used for phosphopeptide enrichment, followed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis. Overall, we identified 7,010 phosphorylated sites on 3,355 phosphopeptides associated with 2,929 phosphoproteins in E. huxleyi. Quantitative analysis revealed changes in the phosphoproteome in E. huxleyi when ambient conditions changed to calcium-limited conditions, notably the phosphorylation of some transporters was altered. This study provides an overview of protein phosphorylation in E. huxleyi and paves the way for further investigations of its biological functions.

Separation of Light Rare-Earth Elements Using Gas-Pressurized Extraction Chromatography

  • A new method for chemical separation of light rare-earth elements (LREEs) using gas-pressurized extraction chromatography (GPEC) is described. GPEC is a microscale column chromatography system that features a constant flow of solvents, which is created by pressurized nitrogen gas. The separation column with a Teflon tubing was packed with LN resin. The proposed GPEC method facilitates production of lesser chemical wastes and faster separation owing to the use of low solvent volume compared to traditional column chromatography. We evaluated the separation of Ba, La, Ce, and Nd using various elution solvents. The column reproducibility of the proposed GPEC system ranged from 2.4% to 4.9% with RSDs of recoveries, and the column-to-column reproducibility ranged from 3.1% to 6.3% with RSDs of recoveries. The proposed technique is robust, and it can be useful for the fast separation of LREEs.

A Study on the Reduction of Inorganic Arsenic in Hijiki and Rice Using the Various Pretreatments and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry

  • Several pretreatment methods have been developed to reduce the inorganic arsenic, which is known to be highly harmful to humans, among various arsenic species present in hijiki and rice. The pretreatment methods were selected and developed as methods that can be non-harmful even after treatment and easily applied. Hijiki was applied by two methods. One was soaking in water at room temperature for various durations and the other was boiling of it in water for a short period of time. Rice was soaked in water with different rice-to-water ratios for various durations. The most effective method that reduced the inorganic arsenic in hijiki was to repeat parboiling for 5 minutes twice, which led to 79% reduction of the inorganic arsenic in it. In the case of rice, soaking for 24 hours at the ratio of 1:5 (rice:water) resulted in 51% reduction of inorganic arsenic in rice.

Ion Mobility Signatures of Glutamine-Containing Tryptic Peptides in the Gas Phase

  • Herein we report multiple ion mobility (IM) peaks in electrospray ionization IM mass spectrometry (ESI-IM-MS) produced by glutamine residue in peptide. The mobility features of 147 peptides were investigated using ESI-IM-MS combined with liquid chromatography. Of these peptides, 66 presented multiple IM peaks, and analysis of their sequence using collision induced dissociation (CID) revealed that glutamine (Gln), as well as proline (Pro), plays a critical role in generating multiple IM peaks. Mutant-based investigations using Gln-containing peptides indicate that the side chain of Gln promotes intermolecular interactions, inducing multiple structures of the peptide ions in the gas phase. Consequently, the present study demonstrates that the distinct ion mobility signatures identified herein can potentially be used to characterize glutamine-containing peptide ions.
