  • Two Ka-band 3-stage power amplifiers were designed and fabricated using $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. For low loss matching networks for the amplifiers, two substrate-shielded transmission line structures, having good modeling accuracy up to 40 GHz were used. The measured insertion loss of substrate-shielded microstrip-line (MSL) was 0.5 dB/mm at 27 GHz. A 3-stage CMOS amplifier using substrate-shielded MSL achieved a 14.7-dB small-signal gain and a 14.5-dBm output power at 27 GHz in a compact chip area of 0.83$mm^2$. The measured insertion loss of substrate-shielded coplanar waveguide (CPW) was 1.0 dB/mm at 27 GHz. A 3-stage amplifier using substrate-shielded CPW achieved a 12-dB small-signal gai and a 12.5-dBm output power at 26.5 GHz. This results shows a potential of CMOS technology for low cost short-range wireless communication components and system.

  • IASL(iodo acetamide) and MSL(maleimide) disordered the orderly helix arrangement of myosin in the rest state of spin level. Especially the effect of IASL was great. Equatorial refiection(10,11) change inferred that myosin head was moved to the vicinity of actin filament by spin level. The intensity change of 143${\AA}$ and 72${\AA}$ could offer information of the mass projection of population of myosin heads along the :filament axis. The slope of intensity profile of the mass projection of 143${\AA}$ and reflection of IASL is appeared and that of MSL is appeared sharply. The decrease of 215${\AA}$ reflection intensity is appeared the periodical characteristic of 143${\AA}$ reflection by spin label. The raise of MSL actin reflection at 51${\AA}$ and 59${\AA}$ in the actin reflection change refers that the shifted myosin head binds a certain actin or changes an actin structure by spin label effect. Because iodo acetamide has a tendency to decease the actin reflection, actin dose not bind myosin head. From this result, we could conclude that LASL and MSL are spin labeled on SH of myosin head and disordered the helix arrangement of actin.

  • IASL(iodo acetamide spin label) and MSL(maleimide spin label) disordered the orderly helix arrangement of myosin in the rest state of spin level. Especially the effect of IASL was great. The muscle was isometrically tetanized with three trains of 3ms pulses every 50ms between $5^{\circ}C$ with $25^{\circ}C$. Equatorial reflection change inferred that myosin head was moved to the vicinity of actin filament by spin level. The intensity change of $143{\AA}$ and $72{\AA}$ could offer information of the mass projection of population of myosin head along the filament axis. The slope of intensity profile of the mass projection of $143{\AA}$ and reflection of IASL is appeared and that of MSL is appeared sharply. The decrease of $215{\AA}$ reflection intensity the periodical character of $143{\AA}$ reflection by spin label. The raise of MSL actin reflection at $51{\AA}$ and $59{\AA}$ in the actin reflection change refers that the shifted myosin head binds a certain actin or changes an actin structure by spin label effect. Because iodo acetamide has a tendency to decease the actin reflection, actin dose not bind myosin head. From this result, we can conclude that IASL and MSL are spin labeled on SH of myosin head and disordered the helix arrangement of actin.

  • In this paper, a new design method of a tunable oscillator using a suspended-stripline resonator is presented. The negative resistance of an FET mounted on microstrip line(MSL) is combined with a high Q suspended-stripline(SSL) resonator to produce a tunable oscillator with good phase noise. The new MSL-SSL transition facilitates the easy connection between the MSL-based circuits and the SSL module. The proposed oscillator is also frequency-tunable using a tuner located on the top of the SSL housing. The measured phase noise of the implemented oscillator at 3.37 GHz is -108.03 dBc@100 kHz and -135.09 dBc@1 MHz with 50 MHz of frequency tuning.

  • The dispersing activity and physical properties of exopolysaccharide (Cystan) produced by Cystobacter sp. MSL-9 was studied. Dispersing activity of Cystan was measured by using bentonite, calcium carbonate, and kaolin. Rheological properties of Cystan were investigated by using a rheometer MCR300. It was found that dispersing activity of Cystan was maintained under various pH and temperature conditions. A particle size analyzer BI-9000AT was used for the particle size measurement of Cystan in aqueous solution. The high dispersing activity and stability under various pH and temperature conditions showed the feasibility of Cystan as a industrial biodispersant.

  • Leak-before-break(LBB) approach has been shown to be both cost effective and risk reductive when applied to high energy Piping in nuclear Power Plants. For the Korean Next Generation Reactor (KNGR) development, LBB application is considered for the Main Steam Line(MSL) piping inside containment. Unlike the primary system leakages, the MSL leak detection systems must be based on principles other than radioactivity measurements. Among humidity, heat and acoustic noise currently being considered as indicators of leakage, we explored humidity as an effective one and developed ceramic-based humidity sensor which can be qualified for LBB applications. The ceramic material, sintered and annealed MgCr$_2$O$_4$-TiO$_2$, is shown to increase its electrical conductivity drastically upon water vapor adsorption over the entire temperature range of interest. With this ceramic sensor specimen, we suggested installation-inside-the-piping method by which we can detect leakage more rapidly and sensitively. In this paper, we describe the progress in the development and characterization of ceramic humidity sensor for the LBB application to the MSL of KNGR.

  • In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for designing the R-G filter that has optimum performance in terms of mean square sidelobe level(MSSL) for the Barker code. The advantage of the conventional R-G filter lies in its simple structure so that it can be easily implemented. However, the conventional R-G filter dose not have optimum performances in terms of peak sidelobe level(PSL), mean sidelobe level(MSL), and MSSL. Recently, a(R-G)LP filter of which filter coefficients are obtained by the linear programming algorithm was proposed and known to have optimum performance in PSL. The proposed (R-G)LS filter keeps the simple structure of the conventional R-G filter and has the filter coefficients that minimizes the sidelobe in the least square sense. The analytic results show that the proposed (R-G)LS filter has better performances than the conventional R-G filter in terms of PSL, MSL, and MSSL. Compared with (R-G)LP filter, the proposed (R-G)LS filter has better performances in terms of MSL and MSSL. The proposed filter design algorithm can be applied to the other binary codes such as truncated pseudonoise(PN) codes and concatenated codes.

  • This paper presents the development of a 3D printed humanoid robotic hands of SignBot, which can perform Malaysian Sign Language (MSL). The study is considered as the first attempt to ease the means of communication between the general community and the hearing-impaired individuals in Malaysia. The signed motions performed by the developed robot in this work can be done by two hands. The designed system, unlike previously conducted work, includes a speech recognition system that can feasibly integrate with the controlling platform of the robot. Furthermore, the design of the system takes into account the grammar of the MSL which differs from that of Malay spoken language. This reduces the redundancy and makes the design more efficient and effective. The robot hands are built with detailed finger joints. Micro servo motors, controlled by Arduino Mega, are also loaded to actuate the relevant joints of selected alphabetical and numerical signs as well as phrases for emergency contexts from MSL. A database for the selected signs is developed wherein the sequential movements of the servo motor arrays are stored. The results showed that the system performed well as the selected signs can be understood by hearing-impaired individuals.

  • The purpose of this study is as follows. First we investigate the relationship between contact with foreign managers (CFM) of host country nationals (HCNs) working at MNC subsidiaries and their organizational identification with MNC (OIM). Second we examine the moderating effect of MNC subsidiary localization (MSL) on the relationship between CFM and OIM. For this purpose, we set hypotheses on the relationship among CFM, OIM, and MSL. To verify theses hypotheses, we conducted hierarchical regression analysis on the data from 374 HCNs in 56 MNC subsidiaries. The results of this study are as follows: Frist, CFM positively affects OIM. Second, there is a significant moderating effect of MSL on the relationship between CFM and OIM. Our findings have critical implications in that a subsidiary-level variable that has a significant impact on organizational identification with MNC is presented and in that specific managerial guidelines for subsidiaries can be drawn.
