  • MPEG-21 표준화는 다양한 비즈니스 모델과 수시로 변화하는 소비자의 요구를 만족시킬 수 있는 멀티미디어 프레임워크 구성을 목적으로 만들어졌다. ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29에서 현재까지 진행한 MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, MPEG-4, MPEG-7 표준에 이어 MPEG-21이 등장하게 된 배경과 함께 본 고에서는 사용자 요구사항을 기반으로 총 7개의 프레임워크 요소로 구성되어 있는 MPEG-21의 표준화 동향에 대하여 살펴보았다.

  • In this paper, a demultiplexer for MPEG-2 Transport Stream which can be applied to terrestrial digital broadcast is developed. The demultiplexer separates video, audio, and data from MPEG-2 multimedia stream and transports them to each decoders respectively. While most existing demultiplexers of MPEG-2 transport stream have been developed as hardware systems, but the fast increment of computer's performance enables a software demultiplexer to be worked in realtime. The developed demultiplexer is implemented as a software module called a filter using DirectShow of Microsoft which is based on COM(Component Object Model)and works on the Windows system. The operation of the demultiplexer is verified by using the GraphEdit tool and rendering a test file formatted as MPEG-2 transport stream.

  • MPEG2(or some situations, MPEG is mostly used to change the raw image into the compressed bitstreams for digital image processing. Also these bitsreams are stored in computer for several applications such as multimedia area. Transmission channels have various capacities according to the application area, and the bitstreams stored in computer should be converted in order not to exceed the capacities of a transmission channel. So the problem is how to convert compressed bitstreams of a given bit-rate into compressed bitstreams of other bit-rates. Such a specific transcoding problem in this paper is referred to as bit-rate conversion. Several researches have been done on bit-rate conversion for the bitstreams compressed by MPEG. But the existing schemes are not suitable fort MPEG4 applications because it needs to transmit shape information( which is not necessary for MPEG2) as well as texture information in MPEG4 system. So we propose a new bit-rate converter which considers both texture and shape information.

  • Video data are retrieved and stored in various compressed forms according to their characteristics, In this paper, we present a generic data model that captures the structure of a video document and that provides a means for indexing a video stream, Using this model, we design and implement CVIMS (the MPEG-2 Compressed Video Information Management System) to store and retrieve video documents, CVIMS extracts I-frames from MPEG-2 files, selects key-frames from the I -frames, and stores in database the index information such as thumbnails, captions, and picture descriptors of the key-frames, And also, CVIMS retrieves MPEG- 2 video data using the thumbnails of key-frames and v31ious labels of queries.

  • Informations of multimedia centering in the images, are combined acoustic and letter, etc. Although the network advances and the capacity of the storage media extends, these huge informations will not be able to accommodate. From meaning which is like this, International standards for the compression and a multiplexing of image, acoustic and voice H261 where admits standard, JPEG, JBIG, MPEG-l, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H263, G series etc, are core techniques of multimedia. At initial step of the base technique which creates the base of like this multimedia service time, we developed the real-time MPEG-4 transmission systems to provides real-time MPEG-4 multimedia services. This system means becomes the base technique which hereafter is developed and is applied various system. This system Will be able to apply from a videoconference, a building protection system and a VOD video system to use the Internet. And, They, the image sensing, embedded linux, and MPEG4 software, will become sourceful technique to develop the different system.

  • This paper presents encryption techniques for digital right management solutions of MPEG-4 streams. MPEG-4 is a format for multimedia streaming and stored in the MPEG-4 file format. We designed three kinds of encryption methods, which encrypt macro blocks (MBs) or motion vectors (MVs) of I-, P-VOPs (Video Object Planes), extracted from the MPEG-4 file format. We used DES to encrypt MPEG-4 data Based on theses three methods, we designed and implemented a DRM solution for an Internet broadcasting service, which enabled a MPEG-4 data streaming, and then compared the results of decryption speed and quality of rendered video sequences to get an optimal encryption method.

  • IPTV contents are based on MPEG2-TS(Moving Picture Expert Group-2 Transport Stream). The Created content is delivered to each home's Set-Top box through the Internet service network, which will be visible on television through the decoding process. The using and spending of content expanding were quite limited in the other existing lines' devices. For this end, provided methods are to convert MPEG2-TS to other format and then transmit it. These methods are causing not only an overload to the system but also its increasing the hardware resource requirements. In this paper, the MPEG2-TS of IPTV's content using RTP(Real time Transport Protocol) provided by the applicable variety of devices and environmental system, was designed and implemented. Through this paper, the existing MPEG2-TS is providing other devices for distribution and consumption that can give better content to the consumers which means that the QoS(Quality of Service) was enhanced. And, the increased consumption and use of content will help the IPTV business to get more development and activation.

  • Digital TV software, receiver system for digital broadcasting, processes huge MPEG-2 TS formatted data that has variable hierarchy. Because of complexity and enormity of MPEG-2 TS, it is difficult for user to generate test data manually. Generating of test data is not only expensive and time consuming but also requires expert knowledge of MPEG-2 standard. In this paper, we implemented the tool that generates the MPEG-2 TS formatted test data for Digital TV software. Using this tool, user ran get reliable test data without extensive knowledge of MPEG-2 standard. Also, database mechanism that our tool based on supports variable hierarchy of MPEG-2 TS.

MPEG-2 422P@ML Transcoder for Digital TV Transmission (디지털 DTV전송을 위한 422P@ML 트랜스부호화기 개발)

  • We have proposed a transcoder which converts the MPEG-2 422P@ML bitstream into MPEG-2 422P@ML bitstream. properties of the MPEG-2 422P@ML profile and requirements for the transcoder are analyzed for the proposed transcoder. The MPEG-2 422P@ML profile permits several GOP structures, each of which has little resemblance. Such different GOP structures lead to a complicated transcoder which includes motion estimation, and have limited use of the side information in the bitstream. By computer simulations, we showed that the results of the transcoding is as good as that of the direct coder by MPEG-2 422P@ML.

A Real-time H.264 to MPEG-2 Transcoding for Ship to Shore Communication (선박-육지간 통신을 위한 실시간 H.264 to MPEG-2 트랜스코딩)

  • Recently, the grade of users using wireless communication services which transmits and re-transmits to the signal via the broadcasting satellite have a variety. However the ships not preparing of H.264 standard devices should not received the realtime data because the broadcasting stations have transmitted the compressed video data through the satellite communication. Therefore this paper proposes H.264 to MPEG-2 transcoding for the ships using MPEG-2 devices. Proposed method improves a speed and object quality in H.264 to MPEG-2 transcoding by analysis features of macroblock modes in H.264. In the Intra mode of P-frame, it proposes new method by computing coincidence proportion after comparing of Intra mode methods of H.264 and MPEG-2. In the Inter mode, it proposes a PMV(predictive motion vector) considering movement of motion vectors in H.264 decoder. we reuses a PMV directly as like the final MV in MPEG-2 encoder and refinements the MV after coincidence ratio comparing of variable motion vectors of H.264 and these of MPEG-2. The experimental results from proposed method show a considerable reduction in processing time, as much as 70% and 67% respectively, with a small objective quality reduction in PSNR.
