약용식물 추출물이 흰쥐의 뇌혈류학적 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Medicinal Plant Extract on the Change of Cerebral Hemodynamic in Rats)

  • 본 연구는 뇌혈관성 질환의 예방을 위한 양생약선으로의 활용을 위한 약용식물에 관한 연구의 일환으로 계획되었고 문헌상의 기록을 바탕으로 한 약용식물의 여러 기능 중 혈류 및 혈압 개선 효과에 중점을 두고 그 기능을 과학적으로 확인하여 보고자 하였다. 흰쥐를 대상으로 LDF를 이용하여 약용식물 추출물이 국소 뇌혈류량과 혈압에 미치는 효과를 관찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 추출물을 여러 농도로 투여 시 국소 뇌혈류량은 증가되었다. 추출물이 국소 뇌혈류량을 증가시키는 기전을 확인하기 위해 atropine, L-NNA, methylene blue, indomethacin을 전 처리한 후 추출물을 투여하였을 때는 국소 뇌혈류량에 유의한 변화를 관찰할 수 없었으나 propranolol을 전 처리한 후 추출물을 1.0 mg/kg 농도 이상으로 투여했을 때는 국소 뇌혈류량이 유의적으로 증가함을 관찰할 수 있었다. 추출물을 여러 농도로 투여 시 혈압은 감소되었다. 추출물이 혈압의 변화를 초래하는지를 확인하기 위해 atropine, L-NNA, methylene blue, indomethacin을 전 처리한 후 추출물을 투여하였을 때는 혈압변화에 유의한 변화를 관찰할 수 없었으나, propranolol을 전 처리한 후 추출물을 1.0 mg/kg 농도 이상으로 투여했을 때는 혈압이 유의적으로 감소함을 관찰할 수 있었다. 결과에서 약용식물 추출물은 뇌혈류량을 증가시키고 혈압을 강하시키는 작용이 있음을 확인하였고 그 기전은 교감신경 $\beta$ 수용체의 활성을 변화시킴으로써 나타난 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 연구의 목적인 약선식으로의 활용에 있어 원재료로 사용이 가능하다고 판단되며 완제품에 대한 영양성분 및 유효성에 대한 연구를 수행할 때 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Effects of dietary mangosteen peel extract on growth performance, jejunum morphology, cytokines profiles, and fecal microbiome in growing pigs with high stocking density

  • The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary mangosteen peel extract (MPE) on growth performance, serum biochemistry, jejunum morphology, and cytokine levels in growing pigs raised at a high stocking density. A total of 120 male growing pigs (43.68 ± 0.48 kg) were randomly arranged in a 2 × 2 factorial design with stocking density (high; HD, 0.55 m2/pig and normal; ND, 0.82 m2/pig) and dietary MPE (0 or 5 g/kg) as factors. Each treatment had six replicates with four or six pigs per treatment. Feed and water were provided ad libitum for 6 weeks. The HD group exhibited lower final body weight, average daily gain, and average daily feed than the ND group (p < 0.05). None of the factors affected villus height to crypt depth ratio. Dietary MPE, but not stocking density, increased IL-10 levels in the serum com-pared to the non-supplemented control diet (p < 0.05). In the microbiome analysis, alpha diversity analysis showed significant reductions in the MPE-treated group only under normal density conditions. High density stress induced gut microbiome changes and these response was differ between normal and MPE diet fed pigs. Overall, each group exhibited different major microbial composition in the gut. In conclusion, there were significant changes in the major microbial composition in response to high-density stress, and this variation was influenced by dietary treatment.

  • Malignant pleural effusions (MPEs) are the second leading cause of exudative pleural effusions after parapneumonic effusions. In the vast majority of cases, a MPE signifies incurable disease associated with high morbidity and mortality. Considerable advances have been made for the diagnosis of MPEs, through the development of improved methods in the specialized cytological and imaging studies. The cytological or histological confirmation of malignant cells is currently important in establishing a diagnosis. Furthermore, despite major advancements in cancer treatment for the past two decades, management of MPE remains palliative. This article presents a comprehensive review of the medical approaches for diagnosis and management of MPE.

  • In this paper, we propose a maximum-likelihood estimation(MLE) method to obtain the location and the amplitude of the pulses in MPE( multi-pulse excitation)-LPC speech synthesis using multi-pulses as excitation source. This MLE method computes the value maximizing the likelihood function with respect to unknown parameters(amplitude and position of the pulses) for the observed data sequence. Thus in the case of overlapped pulses, the method is equivalent to Ozawa's crosscorrelation method, resulting in equal amount of computation and sound quality with the cross-correlation method. We show by computer simulation: the multi-pulses obtained by MLE method are(1) pseudo-periodic in pitch in the case of voicde sound, (2) the pulses are random for unvoiced sound, (3) the pulses change from random to periodic in the interval where the original speech signal changes from unvoiced to voiced. Short time power specta of original speech and syunthesized speech obtained by using multi-pulses as excitation source are quite similar to each other at the formants.

  • In this paper, multi pulse excited-linear predictive coding (MPE-LPC), where the correlation eliminated residual signal is modeled by a few pules, is shown to be effective for the compression of electrocardiogram (ECG) data, and a more efficient scheme for a faithful reconstruction of ECG is proposed. The reconstruction charateristic of QRS's and P.T waves is improved using the adaptive pulse allocation (APA), and the compression ratio (CR) can be changed by controlling the mumber of modeling pulses. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated using 10 normal and 10 abnormal ECG data. The proposed method had a better performance than the variable threshold amplitude zone time epoch coding (AZTEC) algorithm and the scan-along polygonal approximation (SAPA) algorithm with the same CR. With the CR in kthe range of 8:1 to 14:1, we could compress ECG data efficiently.

침진통 효과에서 스트레스에 의한 진통 효과 개입 여부 평가 - 침굵기, 침자극 부위를 중심으로 - (Evaluation of stress-induced analgesia in acupuncture analgesic effect - An Approach on diameters of acupuncture needles and acupuncture point needlings -)

  • Objective : In recent years, many investigators have questioned whether the analgesic effect of acupuncture is simply related to the stress-induced analgesia (SIA). However, there has been lack of studies on this issue. In this study, the stress levels induced by manual acupunctures are compared with the stress in animal experiment models. The experiments have been carried out with Sprague Dawley (SD) rats. Method : For stress level evaluation, Hot plate test has been used. Maximum Possible Effect (MPE) has been measured by checking the pre-test time and post-test time. Cortisol and corticosterone concentrations in serum were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results : In the hot plate test, MPE values of post-test time were significantly decreased after 10 minutes than after 5 minutes. Therefore, optimal time interval was chosen as 10 minutes. There was significant difference of MPE values between Suspension group and all other treatment groups. However, there were no significant differences of MPE values between Sham group and all other treatment groups. However, MPE values showed tendency to decrease when acupuncture needle diameter increased. MPE values of ST040, ST040(lido), NAP040(lido) groups were markedly decreased than that of Suspension group, while that of NAP040 group was substantially increased than that of Sham group increased in acupoint and nonacupoint models. Serum cortisol concentrations of treatment groups were not significantly different from that of Suspension and Sham groups. Serum corticosterone concentration of 0.25 mm group was substantially increased than that of compared with Sham group. Serum cortisol and corticosterone concentrations of treatment groups were not significantly different from those of Suspension and Sham groups in acupoint and nonacupoint models. Conclusion : From hot plate test and serum stress hormones concentrations, it is found that manual acupuncture treatment induces negligible stress or SIA on ST36. And the stress induced by manual acupuncture is more closely related to acupuncture point needlings than diameters of acupuncture needles.

기계식 가압장비(MPE)에 의한 보수재 종류별 부착강도 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Bonding Strength by Types of Repair Materials by Mechanical Pressurizing Equipment(MPE))

  • 기존 연구논문에서 일정한 크기의 압력을 가할 수 있는 기계식 가압장비를 개발하여 보수단면에 시공되는 보수재에 압력을 가할 경우 부착강도가 증가하는 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구논문에서는 기계식 가압장비의 압력을 0, 10, 30, 50 및 80kPa로 달리하여 재령 3 및 28일에서 공시체의 휨, 압축 및 부착강도와 가압판 변형을 측정한 결과를 분석하여 기계식 가압장비에 효과적인 압력을 선정하는 시험을 실시하였으며 시험결과 압력이 높을수록 강도값은 증가하였으나 50kPa이상일 경우 가압판에 변형이 생기는 문제가 발생하였으며 이에 따라 강도값에 큰 차이가 없는 30kPa가 가장 효율적인 압력임을 알 수 있었다. 주성분이 실리카흄, 알루미나 시멘트 및 섬유를 서로 다르게 혼합한 3종류의 보수재로 공시체를 제작한 후 건조 및 습윤 상태, 시공부위별 (천장부, 벽체부 및 바닥판) 그리고 가압 유무에 따라 재령 3, 7, 14 및 28일에 부착강도를 측정한 결과 가압시 재령 3일 부착강도값이 비가압한 재령 7 및 14일 발현 강도값과 동등하거나 높아 공기단축이 필요로 하는 보수공사에 유리할 것으로 판단되었으며 가압시 신속한 수분의 배출이 가능한 셀룰로오즈 섬유가 혼입된 보수재가 가압장비에 가장 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.

Prognostic Values of VEGF and Endostatin with Malignant Pleural Effusions in Patients with Lung Cancer

  • Aims: Angiogenesis is important in malignant pleural effusion (MPE) formation and it is regulated by a number of pro- and anti-angiogenic cytokines. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of angiogenic factor vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and angiogenesis inhibitor endostatin in lung cancer patients with MPE, and investigate the relationship between these two kinds of agent. Methods: Using enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay, the concentrations of VEGF and endostatin were measured in pleural effusions (PE) and serum from a total of 70 lung cancer patients with MPE and 20 patients with tuberculosis. Results: Compared to patients with tuberculosis, the levels of VEGF and endostatin in both PE and serum were significantly higher in patients with lung cancer. There were statistically significant correlations between VEGF levels in PE and serum (r=0.696, p<0.001), endostatin levels in PE and serum (r=0.310, p=0.022), and VEGF and endostatin levels in PE (r=0.287, p=0.019). Cox multivariate analysis revealed that elevated pleural VEGF and endostatin levels and serum endostatin level were independent predictors of shorter overall survival. Conclusion: Both pro- and anti-angiogenic factors are likely contributors to PE formation. Our results suggest that the levels of VEGF and endostatin in PE, together with endostatin in serum, may be potential prognostic parameters for lung cancer patients with MPE.

Percutaneous Absorption and Model Membrane Variations of Melatonin in Aqueous-based Propylene Glycol and 2-Hydroxypropyl-$\beta$-cyclodextrin Vehicles

  • Percutaneous absorption and model membrane variations of melationin (MT) in aqueous-based propylene glycol and $2-hydroxypropyl-{\beta}-cyclodextrin $vehicles were investigatted. the excised hairless mouse skin (HMS) and two synthetic ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and microporous polyethylene (MPE) were selected as a model membrane. the solubility of MT was determined by phase equilibrium study. the vertical $Franz{\circledR}$ type cell was used for diffusion study. The concentration of MT was determined using reverse phse HPLC system. The MT solubility was the highest in a mixture of PG and $2-HP{\beta}CD$. The percutaneous absorption of MT through excised HMS increased as the solubility increased. However, the permeability coefficient decreased and then slightly increased in mixture of PG and $2-HP{\beta}CD$. On the other hand, both flux and permeability coefficient through EVA membrane decreased as the solubility increased. No MT was detected over 12 h after starting diffusion through MPE membrane. The flux of MT was dependent on the type of membrane selected. Flux of MT was greatest in excised HMS followed by EBA and MPE membrane. Flux of MT through EVA membrane was 5-20 times lower when compared to excised HMS. Interestingly, volumes of donor phase when MPE membrane was used, significantly increased during the study period. the HMS might be applicable to expect plasma concentration of MT in human subjects based on flux and pharmacokinetic parameters as studied previously. the current studies may be applied to deliver MT transdermally using aqueous-based vehicles and to fabricate MT dosage forms.

LSTM과 GRU 딥러닝 IoT 파워미터 기반의 단기 전력사용량 예측 (Short-term Power Consumption Forecasting Based on IoT Power Meter with LSTM and GRU Deep Learning)

  • 본 연구에서는 Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) 신경망과 Gated Recurrent Unit(GRU) 신경망을 Internet of Things (IoT) 파워미터에 적용하여 단기 전력사용량 예측방법을 제안하고, 실제 가정의 전력사용량 데이터를 토대로 예측 성능을 분석한다. 성능평가 지표로써 Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), Mean Percentage Error (MPE), Mean Squared Error (MSE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE)를 이용한다. 실험 결과는 GRU 기반의 모델이 LSTM 기반의 모델에 비해 MAPE 기준으로 4.52%, MPE 기준으로 5.59%만큼의 성능개선을 보였다.
