An Analysis of Move Patterns in Abstracts of Social Sciences Research Articles

  • A rhetorical segment in traditional abstract displaying a sign of particular function is frequently referred to as a move. One of the most common moves is the Background, Aim, Method, Results, and Conclusion (BAMRC). The objective of this paper is to investigate the move patterns of research article abstracts in the field of social sciences based on BAMRC moves. Using the Scopus bibliographic database, a total of 467 abstracts from 298 research journals in the field of social sciences were analyzed. The result showed a wide range of move patterns. The implication of the result of this study suggests the existing traditional abstracts in social sciences might not be sufficiently "informative" due to missing moves and due to various move orders. To this end, automatically mapping moves in traditional abstracts to sub-headings in structured abstracts can be a more challenging task, requiring additional procedures to resolve these types of compatibility issues. Future studies can compare this study's result to other fields or disciplines within social sciences in order to find a more precise nature of abstracts in the field of social sciences.

A Study on Characteristic Factors of Demanders Influencing the Intention to Move in Public Rental Housing of Seoul Citizens (서울시민 공공임대주택 입주의사에 영향을 미치는 수요자 특성 요소에 관한 연구)

  • The research study conducted logistics regression analysis through HLM (Hierarchical Linear Modeling) and presented the value of the outcome in order to investigate characteristic factors of demanders which influence the intention to move into public rental housing. (1) The results of the regression analysis of characteristic factors of household and housing were analyzed as having the significant effect on the intention to move in public rental housing, according to residents moving in monthly rent housing, residents' occupations, rental housing, the number of household, the location of surrounding public rental housing, monthly average income, children's educational level, the number of children, the types of housing and one's own house, in order, out of the types of housing tenure. (2) The results of the regression analysis of characteristic factors of the conditions of location were analyzed that out of the conditions of location of the top five areas in public rental rates, what influences significant effects on the intention to move in public rental housing is the location of surrounding rental housing, income, the number of household and children, children's educational level, job state, housing types, ones' own house, rent housing, monthly rent housing, in order. (3) In case of Seoul, Expanding public rental housing is inevitable in order to stabilize ordinary people's housing stability, owing to the high and rental prices of private housing. Nevertheless, an accurate analysis of the intention to move in public rental housing has not been conducted. Eventually, the research was, thus, conducted, based on the fact that the preference on public housing is low. According to the analytic results of the study, it is required for the government institutions and agencies should consider individual and local characteristics and provide an alternative that meets the real situation, in order to help ordinary citizens with low incomes stabilize housing.

Dynamic Integration and Causal Relationships between Stock Price Indexes (주가지수간의 동태적 통합 및 인과관계 분석)

  • It is known that the domestic and the U.S. stock prices tend to move together as those markets are closely interrelated. In this study, cointegration and causal relationships among the four stock price indexes of KOSPI, KOSDAQ, DOWJONES and NASDAQ are carefully investigated for the period of declining stock prices in the long run. When all indexes move in a similar fashion, cointegration does not exist and the causal linkages between the domestic and the U.S. stock prices appear relatively complex. On the other hand, when the domestic and the V.S. stock prices move in a different manner, cointegration exists and the causal relationships appear relatively simple. NASDAQ is apparently found to lead the domestic stock market in both periods, which is consistent with the actual market situation when the If industry is under recession.

  • Urban household's interest in moving to rural area after retirement have been increasing. Most of them live in rural areal for the sake of pleasant natural environment such as fresh air, clean water. The purpose of the study is to analyse characteristics of them and factors affecting their decision. In 2010, about 27% of urban households wish to migrate to rural area after retirement. The results from the random intercept binary logit model implies that 40~50 age, less high-school graduate and middle-income households are more likely to move. And households are more concerned with residential environment-noise, air, water- than house condition. Also, more people have moved to rural in the region. more households wish to move. It implies that information about urban-to-rural migration and life in rural area affect people's positive attitude to move to rural after their retirement.

Analysis of Channel Characteristics at Around 20 GHz for Satellite On-The-Move Terminal (이동형 위성단말을 위한 20 GHz 대역 채널 특성 분석)

  • This paper describes the analysis results of channel characteristics in the operating area of satellite OTM(On-The-Move) terminal. The communication channel between the Koreasat-5 and OTM terminal on a test car is measured and recorded from Daejeon to Daecheon, using the downlink frequency of around 20 GHz. And the measurement data are divided into two classes ; highway environment and national road environment, and then are statistically analyzed. The statistical evaluation of satellite channel is conducted by using probability density function and Markov model and then presents average connection duration(ACD), average fade duration( AFD), and level crossing rate(LCR) of highway environment and national road environment. Finally the statistics data of the two environments are compared with each other.

Double-Input Singe-Output Architecture of LNA and Correction Method of Phase Variation for OTM Satellite Communication System (OTM(On-The-Move) 위성 통신 시스템을 위한 저잡음 증폭기 출력채널 단일화 구조 및 위상보정 방안)

  • In this paper, a double-input single-output architecture of a LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) is presented to enable to be devised for light weight and small-sized OTM(On-The-Move) satellite communication system suitable to be mounted on vehicles. In spite of advantages of the double-input single-output architecture of a LNA such as reduction of the number of physical channels, it results in time-varying phase error between a fundamental mode path and a high-order mode path. This paper shows that the error can be corrected by adding pilot signals to the LNA and using signal processing, and also gives the measurement data to use the method mentioned above.

  • ${\Delta}-moves$ are closely related with a Vassiliev invariant of degree 2. For classical knots, M. Okada showed that the second coefficients of the Conway polynomials of two knots differ by 1 if the two knots are related by a single ${\Delta}-move$. The first author extended the Okada's result for virtual knots by using a Vassiliev invariant of virtual knots of type 2 which is induced from the Kauffman polynomial of a virtual knot. The arrow polynomial is a generalization of the Kauffman polynomial. We will generalize this result by using Vassiliev invariants of type 2 induced from the arrow polynomial of a virtual knot and give a lower bound for the number of ${\Delta}-moves$ transforming $K_1$ to $K_2$ if two virtual knots $K_1$ and $K_2$ are related by a finite sequence of ${\Delta}-moves$.

  • Marionette controlling robot has a problem that generates interference in rotation and intersection, therefore, the research on the independent shifter to move freely on the stage is required. Connecting omni-directional mobile robot with marionette controlling robot can solve this problem. Omni-directional mobile robot makes itself rotate and translate in 2D plane freely. Magnetic device is used to connect the moving part with the control part of the robot to minimize the intereference generated by the movement of robot. When robot moves, it can move to all directions with the suitalbe setting of banlance power. The moment of inertia is minimized by dividing the robot to the upper and lower parts in the marionette performance stage. Rotation and interference problem of independent omni-wheel Robot can be solved by using the permanent magnet. The efficiency and safety of the marionette controlling robot is proved by the experiment.
