  • This paper concerns with (p$_{1}$, p$_{2}$)-Plant Location problem in which entire set of candidate sites for facility locations is divided by two overlapping subsets, each of which with its own number of facilities to be established. We propose an algorithm which attempts to solve the Lagrangean dual of (p$_{1}$, p$_{2}$)-PLP by dividing sub-problem into twop-Plant Location Problems and solving them based on the convexity of the Lagrangean dual problem with respect to the number of facilities to be established. In doing so, Orthogonal Move procedure is proposed to provide easy-to-obtain lower bound to the Lagrangean Dual of (p$_{1}$, p$_{2}$)-PLP. Computational experience is reported.

  • By the works of Levine [2] and Rolfsen [5], [6], it is known that a local move called a crossing-change is strongly related to the Alexander invariant. In this note, we will consider to what degree the relationship is strong. Let K be a knot, and $K^{\times}$ the set of knots obtained from a knot K by a single crossing-change. Let MK be the Alexander invariant of a knot K, and MK the set of the Alexander invariants $\{MK\}_{K{\in}\mathcal{K}}$ for a set of knots $\mathcal{K}$. Our main result is the following: If both $K_1$ and $K_2$ are knots with unknotting number one, then $MK_1=MK_2$ implies $MK_1^{\times}=MK_2^{\times}$. On the other hand, there exists a pair of knots $K_1$ and $K_2$ such that $MK_1=MK_2$ and $MK_1^{\times}{\neq}MK_2^{\times}$. In other words, the Gordian complex is not homogeneous with respect to Alexander invariants.

  • Electrically-induced strain and polarization studies of the (1-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbZrO3 crystalline solutions have been done. Dielectric constants with temperature were investigated for 0$\leq$x$\leq$0.95. With increasing PbZrO3 content the transition maxima were found to move to higher temperature region and DPT (Diffused Phase Transition) properties were decreased for x$\leq$0.60. Phase transition between ferroelectric states and antiferroelectric states was confirmed for 0.93$\times$10-3 for 0.4

  • An underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) has been implemented. It can inspect foreign substances through a CCD camera while the ROV is running in water. The maximum thrust of the ROV's running thruster is 139.3 N, allowing the ROV to move forward and backward at a running speed of 1.03 m/s underwater. The structural strength of the guard frame was analyzed when the ROV collided with a wall while traveling at a speed of 1.03 m/s underwater, and found to be safe. The maximum running speed of the ROV is 1.08 m/s and the working speed is 0.2 m/s in a 5.8-m deep-water wave pool, which satisfies the target performance. As the ROV traveled underwater at a speed of 0.2 m/s, the inspection camera was able to read characters that were 3 mm in width at a depth of 1.5 m, which meant it could sufficiently identify foreign objects in the water.

  • In recent few years, low-power electronics has been a leading drive for technology developments nourished by rapidly growing market share. Mobile DRAM, as a fundamental block of hand-held devices, is now becoming a product developed by limitless competition. To support application specific mobile features, various new power-reduction schemes have been proposed and adopted by standardization. Tightened power budget in battery-operated systems makes conventional schemes not acceptable and increases difficulty of the circuit design. The mobile DRAM has successfully moved down to 1.5V era, and now it is about to move to 1.2V. Further voltage scaling, however, presents critical problems which must be overcome. This paper reviews critical issues in mobile DRAM design and various circuit schemes to solve the problems. Focused on analog circuits, bitline sensing, IO line sensing, refresh-related schemes, DC bias generation, and schemes for higher data rate are covered.

  • An AQL type variables sampling system with switching rules is proposed. Comparative studies of existing variables sampling standards - MIL-STD-414, ANSI Z1.9, ISO 3951, and BS 6002 - are made, and simulation studies on switching procedures are conducted. Based on comparative and simulation studies, a variables sampling standard for Korean industry is proposed. The master sampling tables of the proposed standard are taken from the variables standard ANSI Z 1. 9 and the switching rules are matched to the attributes standard KS A 3109 to enable us to move between the proposed variables standard and KS A 3109. Composite OC and ASN curves of the proposed standard are calculated for selected combinations of lot sizes and AQL's and they are compared with those of ANSI Z1.9.

  • Ongoing demographic changes have brought about a substantial shift in the size and age composition of the population, which are having a significant impact on the global economy. Despite potentially grave consequences, demographic changes usually do not take center stage in many macroeconomic policy discussions or debates. This paper illustrates how demographic variables move over time and analyzes how they influence macroeconomic variables such as economic growth, inflation, savings and investment, and fiscal balances, from an empirical perspective. Based on empirical findings-particularly regarding inflation-we discuss their implications on macroeconomic policies, including monetary policy. We also highlight the need to consider the interactions between population dynamics and macroeconomic variables in macroeconomic policy decisions.

  • The structure represents symmetrical metal electrode (gate 1) - front $SiO_2$ layer - n-Si nanowire FET - buried $SiO_2$ layer - metal electrode (gate 2). At the symmetrical gate voltages high conductive regions near the gate 1 - front $SiO_2$ and gate 2 - buried $SiO_2$ interfaces correspondingly, and low conductive region in the central region of the NW are formed. Possibilities of applications of nanosize FETs at the deep inversion and depletion as a distributed capacitance are demonstrated. Capacity density is an order to ${\sim}{\mu}F/cm^2$. The charge density, it distribution and capacity value in the nanowire can be controlled by a small changes in the gate voltages. at the non-symmetrical gate voltages high conductive regions will move to corresponding interfaces and low conductive region will modulate non-symmetrically. In this case source-drain current of the FET will redistributed and change current way. This gives opportunity to investigate surface and bulk transport processes in the nanosize inversion channel.

  • This paper reports a preliminary investigation on the time course of intersyllabic coarticulation in Standard Chinese. In this investigation, around 3800 phonetically compact C1V1-C2V2 type disyllabic structures 3re employed to observe the acoustic effect of coarticulation in general, and about 400 disyllabic words are designed as the materials to examine: (1) How the articulators move from one syllable to the next? (2) What is the extent to which the syllables overlapped? And (3) In what sense, the syllables are produced in parallel; and in what sense, they are in sequence? For the convenience of description, we just take the offset transition of V1 end the onset transition of C2 os the rough representations for anticipatory and carryover effect respectively, durational measurements are made correspondingly. To evaluate the possible influence on the behavior of gestural overlap from stress contrast and constituent difference of the syllables, analysis of variance are counducted as well. Based on this study, Some impressions about general nature of coarticulation behined the intersyllabic gesture overlapping in this language are discussed.

  • We investigate properties of black hole (BH) binaries formed in globular clusters, by using direct N-body simulations. Comparing with previous studies which usually considered single BH masses, our models consist of two-component BH masses, or continuous BH mass function with single mass ordinary cluster stars. During the early stage of dynamical evolution, initially distributed BHs are move to the cluster center by dynamical friction, then BH-BH binaries start to be formed, and eventually be ejected from the cluster due to three body interaction. Finally we find the formation efficiency of high mass BHs are alwats larger than that of lower mass BHs, implying that a BH mass spectrum expected from GW observation should be biased to high mass. In addition, mass ratios of BHs in binaries prefer similar masses (ratio~1), while the most extreme case is less than 3. Expected merger rate from our models is about 7 BH-BH mergers per $Mpc^3$ per yr.
