  • Various schemes for mobility are currently studied in ITU-T, 3GPP, IETF, and so on. Mobility support in NGN for seamless service is necessarily required. Currently proposed mechanisms are MIPv6, $IP^2$, and Q.MMF. However the performance comparison of all existing schemes is not examined as yet. That is, the existing methods need to be compared according to each performance parameter. So, in this paper, we investigate and compare the performances of MIPv6, $IP^2$, Q.MMF to location registration. In addition, this paper presents the performance comparison of handover latency times. For this, we use NS-2 simulator. As a result of analysis, $IP^2$ shown the best performance as it is measured the minimum time and cost. And it has low handover latency time in comparison with other mechanisms.

  • The rotor configuration of the brushless doubly fed induction generator (BDFIG) plays an important role in its performance. In order to make the magnetomotive force (MMF) space vector in one set rotor windings to couple both magnetic fields with different pole-pair and have low resistance and inductance, this paper presents a novel wound rotor type for BDFIG with low space harmonic contents. In accordance with the principles of slot MMF harmonics and unequal element coils, this novel rotor winding is designed to be composed of three-layer unequal-pitch unequal-turn coils. The optimal design process and rules are given in detail with an example. The performance of a 700kW 2/4 pole-pair prototype with the proposed wound rotor is analyzed by the finite element simulation and experimental test, which are also carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed wound rotor configuration.

  • Important category of brushless ac machine design is emerging in which the fundamental component of the stator MMF has fewer poles than the rotor. the torque being developed by a higher order MMF harmonic. The fundamental and lower order MMF harmonics can then give rise to significant rotor eddy currents. An analytical model is developed to predict rotor-induced eddy currents in such machines, and to quantify the effectiveness of circumferentially segmenting the permanent magnets in reducing the rotor loss.

  • Mixed mode interlaminar fracture behaviors of carbon fabric/epoxy composites were investigated through MMF (Mixed Mode Flexural) test by varying mixed mode ratio ranging from 20% to 90%. Mixed mode interlaminar fracture criteria based on NL point and 5% offset point were also suggested in order to predict mixed mode interlaminar fracture behaviors. Fracture surfaces and crack propagating behaviors were examined through a travelling scope and a scanning electron microscope. According to the results, mixed mode interlaminar fracture behaviors can be predicted by mixed mode interlaminar fracture criterion with m=1.5 and n=0.5 on the basis of NL point or mixed mode interlaminar fracture criterion with m=2 and n=3 on the basis of 5% offset point. Fracture surfaces and crack propagating behaviors are sensitive to mixed mode ratios. MMF test can be successfully applicable in evaluating mixed mode interlaminar fracture toughness of carbon fabric/epoxy composites.

  • This study examines the relation between mutual fund performance and fund flows in Korean market using weekly and monthly data. The results are as follows. First, the relation between the two variables varies across fund types. Even the relations in equity fund and index fund are different from each other. Second, the structural change in the mutual fund market affect significantly the relation between the two variables. Third, return chasing flow is observed constantly in bond fund and it is observed only after the structural change for equity fund and MMF. However, no return chasing flow is observed for index fund. Fourth, mutual fund flows affect subsequent fund returns only in MMF after the structural change.

  • This study explored the feasibility of replacing a metal link with a carbon fiber/epoxy composite link and assessed its capacity to withstand a given load condition using failure criteria. The micromechanics of failure (MMF) criterion was employed to predict the failure mode of the composite material, and mechanical tests were conducted to obtain reference strength parameters for MMF. The findings revealed that the stress distribution was concentrated near the hole, and weaknesses were found around the hole and at the end of the link under bending conditions. Based on the failure index, matrix tensile failure was predicted at the end of the link, and fiber compression failure occurred near the hole. The methods and results obtained from this study can provide valuable guidelines for assessing the safety of composite materials under specific load conditions when replacing metal parts with carbon fiber/epoxy composites to achieve weight reduction.

  • In order to study the effect of welding fume exposure upon the pulmonary function test, we examined 131 shielded arc welding workers, and 152 $CO_2$ arc welding workers as cases and 177 control workers for their general characteristics, and forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second $(FEV_{1.0})$, forced expiratory volume in one second as a percent of FVC $(FEV_{1.0}%)$, and maximal mid-expiratory flow (MMF) were obtained from the spirogram. In shielded arc welding group and $CO_2$ arc welding group, FVC, $FEV_{1.0},\;FEV_{1.0}%$, and MMF were significantly decreased than control group, especially marked in the MMF finding. The distribution of workers below normal range was as follows. in the shielded arc welding group, 2 workers(1.5%) for FVC, 17 workers(13.0%) for $FEV_{1.0}$, 5 workers(3.8%) for $FEV_{1.0}%$, 28 workers(21.4%) for MMF, and in the $CO_2$ arc welding group, 3 workers(2.0%) for FVC, 25 workers(16.4%) for $FEV_{1.0}$, 8 workers(5.3%) for $FEV_{1.0}%$, and 37 workers(24.3%) for MMF, and significant increase by exposure duration was found in MMF. The distribution of workers who had ventilation impairment was as follows: 5 workers(3.8%) for obstructive type, 2 workers(1.5%) for restrictive type in the shielded arc welding group, and 7 workers(4.6%) for obstructive type, 2 workers(1.3%) for restrictive type, and 1 worker(0.6%) was combined type of the $CO_2$ arc welding group. In the respect of these results, the significant pulmonary function and ventilatory impairment were observed in welding fume exposed workers who had not abnormal finding in chest X-ray, and MMF considered as the most sensitive pulmonary function index by welding fume exposure. Therefore even if it is hard to doing pulmonary function test in the first health examination of workers according to the Industrial Safety Health Act in the welding fume exposure workers, it is desirable to consider doing PFT. Also evaluating the ventilation impairment, it is necessary, to observe the change of MMF that marker of effort-independent portion.

  • The effect of addition of fractionated milk fats on the composition and melting behavior of cocoa butter was investigated. High melting fraction (HMF) of milk fat fractions had the highest contents of long chain fatty acid $(C16{\sim}C18)$ and saturated fatty acid followed by medium melting fraction 1 (MMF1), medium melting fraction 2 (MMF2), anhydrous milk fat (AMF), and low melting fraction (LMF) in a decreasing order. MMF2 had the highest contents of the short chain fatty acid $(C4{\sim}C10)$ and medium chain fatty acid $(C12{\sim}C14)$ followed by AMF, HMF, MMF1, and LMF in a decreasing order. When the fractionated milk fats were added to cocoa butter, the long chain fatty acid contents increased with increasing the ratio of fractionated milk fats. The saturated fatty acid contents decreased only when the LMF was added. The higher content of long chain triglyceride and the lower contents of short chain triglyceride and medium chain triglyceride were obtained from the fractionated milk fat of higher melting point. When the fractionated milk fats were added to cocoa butter, long chain triglyceride contents decreased with increasing the ratio of the fractionated milk fats. The melting points of cocoa butter, AMF, HMF, MMF1, MMF2, LMF were $33.3^{\circ}C,\;31.2^{\circ}C,\;40.6^{\circ}C,\;37.4^{\circ}C,\;33.5^{\circ}C$, and $6.5^{\circ}C$, respectively. Cocoa butter had the highest content of solid fat followed by HMF, MMF1, MMF2, AMF, and LMF in a decreasing order. When the fractionated milk fat was added to cocoa butter at various temperatures, the solid fat content in the mixture of fractionated milk fat and cocoa butter decreased with increasing the ratio of fractionated milk fat. This results suggested that anhydrous milk fat and fractionated milk fats had a good compatibility with cocoa butter.

  • This paper presents a new permanent magnet (PM) assisted topology for a recently introduced brushless wound rotor synchronous machine (BL-WRSM) [1]. The BL-WRSM had a dual-inverter configuration for generating a composite magneto motive force (MMF) with a fundamental component and a subharmonic component. The subharmonic component of the MMF is used for brushless excitation of the rotor. In this paper, additional PMs were introduced on the rotor of the BL-WRSM, making it a hybrid BL-WRSM. We also discussed the flux weakening operation for the hybrid BL-WRSM. The hybrid BL-WRSM offered advantages for starting the machine and provided better performance under full-load conditions. The finite element method (FEM) was used to analyze the performance of the hybrid BL-WRSM, and we compared its performance with BL-WRSM. Finally, prototypes were built with and without the PM-assistance, and experiments were conducted to demonstrate their performance.
