Matlab and Simulink are used to design channel presumption & MIMO algorithm by Floating-point and Fixed-point model. After then implement VHDL using Modelsim. Performance of algorithm is checked by comparing Simulink model, Modelsim simulation, ISE ChipScope with the result measured by oscilloscope. This method is useful to verify an algorithm with uncompleted system. Conformance between the result of ChipScope and the result of oscilloscope is confirmed, it could be applied on the Backhaul system.

  • In this work, a novel optimal multiuser detection (MUD) approach, which not only achieves the optimal maximum-likelihood (ML)-like performance but also has reasonably low computational complexity, for Space-time coded OFDM (ST-OFDM) systems is presented. In the proposed detection scheme, the signal model is firstly re-expressed into linearly equivalent one. Then, with the linearly equivalent signal model, a new jointly MUD algorithm is proposed to detect signals. The ML-like bit-error-rate (BER) performance and reasonably low complexity of the proposed detection are verified by computer simulations.

  • In multimedia communication systems, efficient transmission system design should incorporate the use of matching unequal error protection (UEP), since source coders exhibit unequal bit error sensitivity. In this paper, we present UEP schemes which exploit differences in bit error protection levels in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems over frequency selective fading channels. We introduce an UEP scheme which improves the link performance with multiple transmit and receive antennas. Especially, we propose a new receiver structure based on two stage Maximum Likelihood detection (MLD) schemes which can approach the performance of a full search MLD receiver with much reduced computational complexity. In the performance analysis, we derive a generalized pairwise error probability expression for the proposed UEP schemes. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes achieve a significant performance gain over the conventional equal error protection (EEP) scheme.

  • The signal space diversity is one of the promising transmission techniques in next generation mobile TV service. However, DVB-T2 does not consider the multiple antennas (MIMO) so that the cyclic Q-delay method, a component interleaver in DVB-T2, causes a critical issue in detecting symbols at the receiver side by increasing the inter-symbol dependency. To solve this problem, the component-swapping technique is proposed, which limits the inter-symbol dependency in order to reduce detection complexity. In this paper, the achievable gain of a component-swapping technique combined with 16K LDPC code defined in DVB-T2 is evaluated by computer simulations. From the results, the gain is confirmed in terms of BER and receive complexity compared to legacy component interleaver methods.

  • In this paper, a novel transmission scheme with spatial modulation is proposed for coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique, so-called spatial modulation (SM), divides input data into antenna index and data signals, transmitting data signals through the specific antenna chosen by the antenna index. In order to retrieve data stream at the receiver, SM needs to detect the antenna index which means that data signals are transmitted via a certain antenna. For this reason, it should be guaranteed that channel matrix is orthogonal. For the real environment, a MIMO channel has difficulty in maintaining orthogonality due to spatial correlation. Moreover, the receiver of the conventional SM is operated by hard decision, so that this scheme has a limit to be adopted for practical systems. Therefore, soft-output demappers for the conventional and proposed schemes are derived to detect antenna index and data stream by soft decision, and a novel transmission scheme combined with spatial modulation is proposed to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of the conventional scheme.

  • In this paper, we analyze the symbol error rate (SER) performance of maximum likelihood (ML) joint detection in downlink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems by deriving a tight union bound on the symbol error rate (SER). The union bound for ML joint detection is utilized to demonstrate the performance of MIMO MC-CDMA systems quantitatively in multiuser and frequency selective Rayleigh fading environments. An analysis of the diversity order of the systems shows the effects of multiple users, spread subcarriers, and multiple antennas on the ML joint detection performance. Furthermore, the analysis shows that MIMO MC-CDMA systems without full loading can achieve more diversify than MIMO orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems.

  • This paper proposes a packet detection algorithm for IEEE802.11n system. IEEE802.11n is a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system and we have to consider several combining techniques which are used in multiple receive antenna system. In this paper, we propose a hybrid packet detection algorithm which combines double sliding window algorithm or delay and correlation algorithm, that is used in single input single output (SISO) system, and multiple receive antenna combining algorithms, and simulated their performances in Iin system environments and shows the results.

  • This paper implements 2X2 MIMO Long Term Evolution (LTE) base station using Software defined radio (SDR) technology. The implemented base station system processes baseband signals on a Graphics Processor Unit(GPU). GPU is a high-speed parallel processor which provides very important advantage of using a very powerful C-based programming environment that is Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). The implemented software-based base station system processes baseband signals through GPU. It utilizes USRP2 as its RF transceiver. In order to guarantee a real-time processing of LTE baseband signals, we have adopted well-known signal processing algorithms such as frame synchronization algorithms, ML detection, etc. using GPU operating in parallel processing.

  • Channel estimation and data detection for OFDM systems over time- and frequency-selective channels are investigated. Relying on the complex exponential basis expansion channel model, a pilot-embedded channel estimation scheme with low computational complexity and spectral efficiency is proposed. A periodic pilot sequence is superimposed at a low power on information bearing sequence at the transmitter before modulation and transmission. The channel state information(CSI) can be estimated using the first-order statistics of the received data. In order to enhance the performance of channel estimation, we recover the transmitted data which can be exploited to estimate CSI iteratively. Simulation results show that the proposed method is suitable for doubly-selective channel estimation for the OFDM systems and the performance of the proposed method can be better than that of the Wiener filter method under some conditions. Through simulations, we also analyze the factors which can affect the system performances.

  • We present a space-time trellis coded OFDM system in flow fading channels. Generalized principal ratio combining (GPRC) is also analyzed theoretically in frequency domain. The analysis show that the decoding metric of GPRC include the metrics of maximum likelihood (ML) and PRC. The computer simulations with M-PSK modulation are obtained in frequency flat and frequency selective lading channels. The decoding complexity and simulation running times are also evaluated among the decoding schemes.
