  • Since the major cellular data service providers in U.S, Japan as well as in Korea started the LTE (Long Term Evolution) service, there has been more strong need for the methods that can accurately measure the MIMO (Multi Input-Multi Outout) OTA (Over The Air) performance of LTE handsets because the performance of the MIMO antenna determines the packet data rates in the downlink and therefore the higher system throughput of the network. In this regard, there has been a lot discussions in 3GPP on the candidate MIMO OTA test solutions. In this paper, a faire comparison has been done for the conventional method, the Envelop Correlation Coefficient (ECC) measurements, and the anechoic chamber based MIMO OTA test solution, one of the candidate system being discussed in 3GPP. The evaluations and the comparisons are conducted by numerically and experimentally.

  • In this paper, we propose a non-convex compressed sensing(NCCS)-based channel state information(CSI) feedback scheme for massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Combining the random vector quantization(RVQ), the proposed scheme permits a transmitter to obtain CSI with acceptable accuracy under substantially reduced feedback load. Furthermore, it recovers CSI from fewer measurements than that of existing convex compressed sensing(CCS)-based schemes even if the measurements are inaccurate and incomplete. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves higher throughput than both existing CCS-based feedback scheme and random vector quantization(RVQ) feedback scheme with the same feedback load.

  • The diversity techniques can benefit underwater acoustic communications when the distance between sensors is sufficiently apart, and this leads to the increases in the physical size of the communication system: thus it is very hard to practically use such systems in real-environments. Therefore, in this paper, we have collected data from real underwater cannel environments in order to analyze the usability of diversity combined with beamforming techniques. And we have estimated the fading characteristics from the measurement data, and analyzed the correlation coefficients using the estimated fading characteristics. After analyzing the estimated fading characteristics from the measurements data, we found out that by applying diversity techniques on the output signals from beamformers that perform beamforming from different multipath directions, we can reduce the distance between sensors and at the same time benefit from the diversity gain.
