A Low-Complexity ML Detector for Generalized Spatial Modulation Based on Priority (GSM을 위한 우선순위 기반 저복잡도 ML 검출 기법)

  • In this paper, we proposed a modified ML detector for generalized spatial modulation which is a method among Multiple-input Multiple-output. This proposed method detects signal applying modified channel statement information based on priority. Complexity in conventional methods increases as increasing the number of active antennas. To solve this problem, we proposed a new ML method using static channel information decided by the number of transmit antennas and the number of receive antennas. This method detects active antennas one by one through priority. The proposed method has proved benefit on complexity compared with conventional method through simulations. When the number of transmit antennas is equal to 10, there is approximately 45% complexity reduction.

Reactance Set and Performance Evaluation of Chaos QPSK Beamspace MIMO System Using ESPAR Antenna (ESPAR 안테나를 사용하는 카오스 QPSK 빔 공간 MIMO 시스템을 위한 리액턴스 조합과 성능 평가)

  • Recently, researches about MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) system are being studied actively due to high-capacity and high-speed communication. However, MIMO system has many RF(Radio Frequency) chains according to many array antennas. So, MIMO system has disadvantages such as high-complexity and high-power-consumption. Also, it is impossible to miniaturize the antenna dimension. In order to solve these problems, beamspace MIMO system using ESPAR(Electronically Steerable Parasitic Array Radiator) antenna was proposed. It is possible to reduce the complexity and the power-consumption, because it has single RF chain by using one active antenna and several parasitic elements. In this paper, in order to improve the security, for the first time, chaos communication algorithm is applied to QPSK modulated beamspace MIMO system using ESPAR antenna. We define as chaos QPSK beamspace MIMO system, and evaluate the SER performance. Also, we confirm that QPSK symbols can be made by changing the reactance values of parasitic elements, and evaluate the SER performance of this system.

Efficient pipelined FFT processor for the MIMO-OFDM systems (MIMO-OFDM 시스템을 위한 효율적인 파이프라인 FFT 프로세서의 설계)

  • This paper proposes an area-efficient pipeline FFT processor for MIMO-OFDM systems with four transmitting and four receiving antennas. Since the MIMO-OFDM system transmits multiple data streams, the complexity for the MIMO-OFDM system with a single-channel FFT processor increases linearly with the increase of the number of transmit channels. The proposed FFT processor is based on multi-channel structure, and therefore it can efficiently support multiple data streams. With the mixed radix algorithm, the number of non-trivial multiplications of the proposed FFT processor is decreased. The proposed FFT processor is synthesized with CMOS $0.18{\mu}m$ process and reduces the logic gates by 25% over a 4-channel Radix-4 multi-path delay commutator (R4MDC) FFT processor. Since the MIMO-OFDM FFT processor is one of the largest modules in the systems, the proposed FFT processor will be a vast contribution improvement to the low complexity design of MIMO-OFDM systems.

Performance Analysis of Dual-layer Beamforming Technique for MIMO-OFDM System (MIMO-OFDM 시스템에서 이중계층 빔포밍 기법의 성능분석)

  • This paper propose a dual-layer beam-forming technique for MIMO-OFDM systems. Dual-layer beam-forming is a capacity enhancing technique to transmit two streams of source data with more than two transmit and receive antennas. Beamforming is a technique to enhance the link-level performances gain using antenna array with the small inter element distance. The proposed scheme can obtain both high capacity of spatial multiplexing and antenna array gain of beamforming for MIMO-OFDM systems. Therefore, it provides better BER performance than the traditional spatial multiplexing and beamforming techniques under the same simulation environment.

  • 최근 무선전송에서 SISO(single input singe output) 시스템의 전송률이 샤논 한계(Shannon limit)에 근접함에 따라, 이것을 극복하여 더 높은 데이터 전송률을 얻기 위해 MIMO(multiple input multiple output) 시스템에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 현재 진행 중인 DVB-NGH 시스템 표준화에도 전송률 개선을 위해 MIMO SM(Spatial Multiplexing) 기술에 대해 고려하고 있으며, 방송 시스템 내 송수신 안테나들 간 상관(correlation)이 발생하는 경우에 성능 개선을 위해 Precoding과 MIMO SM을 결합한 $2{\times}2$ 구조의 MIMO SM 방법이 제안되었다. 이 방법은 두 개의 송신안테나에 모두 16QAM 신호가 전송되는 경우와 두 송신안테나에 각각 16QAM, QPSK 신호가 전송되는 경우를 포함하고 있다. 이때 고출력 증폭기(high power amplifier) 전단에서 두 송신 안테나에 서로 다른 변조가 적용되는 경우에 PAPR(peak-to-average power ratio)이 달라서 고출력 증폭기 출력단의 송신전력 차이로 인해 각 신호의 방송권역(coverage)이 같지 않은 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해 $2{\times}2$ MIMO SM 방식에서 송신 안테나별로 신호의 변조방식이 서로 다른 경우에 송신신호의 PAPR을 같게 하여 증폭기 출력단에서 각 송신신호의 전력이 동일하게 할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 수신기의 복잡도를 증가시키지 않으면서 두 송신 신호의 방송권역을 동일하게 한다.

  • LTE-Advanced is the evolved version of LTE which is currently in progress at the 3GPP. At present, as the number of smart phone users is rapidly increasing, the demand for ever more capacity is driven largely by video usage and high quality data communication and so on, this let more researchers study about LTE-A all over the world. LTE-A aims to achieve improved service and communication quality over 3G system at the aspect of throughput, peak data rate, latency, and spectral efficiency. Among various features in LTE-A, the multi-user MIMO(MU-MIMO), in which the base station transmits several streams to multiple receivers, has expected to give better quality for system. In this paper, we investigate performances of various types of downlink receivers with fixed number of antennas. we first review the development process from LTE to LTE-A. Second we introduce TM9 which is adopted in Rel.10 for MU-MIMO system, including the MU-MIMO system model and the explanation on the algorithm used in system. We also have brief introduction about sub-blocking in turbo decoding, finally we compare the performance between the uncoded case and coded case which is using turbo encoding.

  • In this paper, wireless channel characteristics of massive MIMO system is analyzed by comparing angular spread, cross polarization discrimination(XPD) and delay spread of dual polarized 4 and 128 transmit array antenna systems, by using 3D rat-tracing simulator, Wireless Insite in microcell environments. The analysis shows that increasing the number of transmit antennas results in the smaller angular spread and delay spread, and the higher value of XPD.

  • In this paper, we propose the structure of a dual polarized system for a wireless communication. The proposed dual polarized antenna is formed by one vertical antenna and two horizontal antennas that are orthogonal to each other. Vertical and horizontal polarized antennas transmit different signals, but two orthogonal horizontal polarized antennas transmit the same data signals. So, the signals of the proposed dual polarized system construct two dual-polarization planes. And, only one dual-polarization plane with a large signal power is selected at the side of a receiver. The simulation results show that the proposed dual polarized system could obtain a higher capacity compared to an ordinary $2{\times}2$ MIMO (Multi-input Multi-output) system.

The Optimal Number of Transmit Antennas Maximizing Energy Efficiency in Multi-user Massive MIMO Downlink System with MRT Precoding (MU-MIMO 하향링크 시스템에서의 MRT 기법 사용 시 에너지 효율을 최대화하는 최적 송신 안테나의 수)

  • We propose an optimal number of transmit antennas which maximizes energy-efficiency (EE) in multi-user massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) downlink system with the maximal ratio transmission (MRT) precoding. With full channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT), we find a closed form solution by partial differential function with proper approximations using average channel gain, independence of individual channels, and average path loss. With limited feedback, we get a solution numerically by the bisection with approximations in the same manner, and analyze an effect of feedback bits on the optimal number of transmit antennas. Simulation results show that the optimal numbers of transmit antenna getting from proposed closed form solution and exhaustive search are nearly same.

  • Two-dimensional orthogonal variable spreading codes are presented far multiplexing of forward link in direct sequence code division multiple access(DS-CDMA) multiple antennas system. The bit error rate(BER) performance under a multi-user environment fur the additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel and Rayleigh fading MIMO channel are evaluated. The results demonstrate that the proposed scheme could provide flexible rates and lower peak correlation values.
