A study of energy absorption and exposure buildup factors in natural uranium

  • Energy absorption and exposure buildup factor have been computed for natural uranium in the energy range of 0.05-15MeV up to penetration depth of 40 mfp. Five-parameter geometric progression (G-P) fitting method has been used to compute buildup factors of uranium. The variation of energy absorption and exposure buildup factors with, penetration depth and incident photon energies for the uranium has been studied. It has been concluded that the values of energy absorption and exposure buildup factors are very large at 0.15 MeV.

  • 정합장처리(matched-field processing)는 실제 음향자료와 복제음장과의 공간 coherence를 이용한 음장의 역추정 방법이다. 광대역 스펙트럼을 가지는 음원의 경우 협대역 단일 주파수별로 정합장 출력을 계산한 후, 각 출력을 더하는 incoherent 광대역 정합장처리를 사용하였으나, 그 경우 수신기들과 주파수들간의 상호 공간과 주파수 정보를 사용치 못하므로 음원 위치추정 성능이 저하된다. 본 논문에서는 광대역 스펙트럼의 여러 주파수를 사용하여 확장된 CSDM(cross-spectral density matrix)을 구성하여 coherent 정합장처리를 구현하고, 각 정합장처리 기법에 대한 음원 위치추정 성능을 분석하였다.

  • The digital electronic switching system has some problems, when this system processes OAM(Operation, Administration And Maintenance) messages about the fault, the traffic, the account, and the performance, etc., at the present. One of these problems is that each the module processing these messages in the digital electronic switching system can not process OAM messages out of another digital electronic switching system. Each the module processing these OAM messages, that is, has been programmed in order to process only the OAM message out of the digital electronic switching system mounting itself, not to process the message out of the digital electronic switching system based on another platform. Therefore, we studied on methods that could process OAM messages out of all digital electronic switching systems and, first of all, developed the MGS(Message Gathering System) to be able to accept and process the fault message of OAM messages out of all digital electronic switching systems in real time.

  • A fast gamma-ray dose rate assessment method for complex geometries based on stylized model reconstruction and point-kernel method is proposed in this paper. The complex three-dimensional (3D) geometries are imported as a 3DS format file from 3dsMax software with material and radiometric attributes. Based on 3D stylized model reconstruction of solid mesh, the 3D-geometrical solids are automatically converted into stylized models. In point-kernel calculation, the stylized source models are divided into point kernels and the mean free paths (mfp) are calculated by the intersections between shield stylized models and tracing ray. Compared with MCNP, the proposed method can implement complex 3D geometries visually, and the dose rate calculation is accurate and fast.

A Study on the Dietary Fiber Intake and Iron Metabolism in Korean Female College Students (일부 여대생의 식이섬유 섭취와 철분대사에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate dietary fiber intake, iron status, and their correlations in 50 female college students living in Seoul. The nutritional status was analyzed using 3-day dietary record, duplicated diet collection, and venous blood sampling. The mean values for age, height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure of the subjects were 23.2 years, 160.2cm, 53.9kg, 21.0kg/$m^2$, and 110.1/68.4mmHg, respectively. Daily intakes of enery, protein, fiber, crude fiber, iron, and heme iron were 1635.5㎉, 54.3g, 22.5g, 6.8g, 16.2mg, and 0.2mg, respectively. Fiver intake was positively correlate with energy, protein, carbohydrate, vitamin C, iron, and crude fiber intakes. Also, iron intake was positively correlated with energy, protein, lipid, carbohydrate, and vitamin C intakes. There was a significant correlation between heme iron and MFP(meat, fish, poultry) intakes. To exame the iron balance, iron intake and excretion were measured. Iron intake and excretions through urine and feces were 19.5mg, 8.5mg, and 1.6mg, respectively. Based on these iron retention and iron apparent absorbability were calculated as 9.4mg and 52.4%, respectively. There was no significant relationship between dietary fiber intake and iron status. However, there were significant positive correlation between fiber intake and urinary iron excretion.

Parameter Mismatches and its Biases in Ocean Matched Field Processing (해양 정합장처리에서 매개변수 오정합과 바이어스)

  • In matched field processing (MEP), the observed acoustic field data is basically correlated with the replica produced by the modeling. therefore the results of source localization and correlation is limited by the mismatch of the environment and sensor location. In this paper. the effects of mismatch in environment and system on the bias in estimating the source location are investigated in the context of source localization. In the Pekeris waveguide, the simulation shows that the mismatches in environment and system, can cause a significant biases in the source localization and a degradation in MFP correlation. Mismatch caused by uncertainties in array tilt and depth, bottom depth, bottom sound speed, etc. causes degradation in source localization performance.

  • Exact forward modeling of acoustic propagation is crucial in MFP such as inverse problems and various other acoustic applications. As acoustic propagation in shallow water environments become important, range dependent modeling has to be considered of which PE method is considered as one of the most accurate and relatively fast. In this paper higher order numerical rode employing the PE method is developed. To approximate the depth directional operator, Galerkin's method is used with partial collocation to lessen necessary calculations. Linearization of tile depth directional operator is achieved via expansion into a multiplication form of (equation omitted) approximation. To approximate the range directional equation, Crank-Nicolson's method is used. Final1y, numerical self stater is employed. Numerical tests are performed for various occan environment scenarios. The results of these tests are compared to exact solutions, OASES and RAM results.

Calibration of a Five-Hole Multi-Function Probe for Helicopter Air Data Sensors

  • In the flight of air vehicles, accurate air data information is required to control them effectively. Especially, helicopters are often put in drastic motion involved with high angle of attacks in order to perform difficult missions. Among various sensors, the multi function probe (MFP) has been used in the present study mainly owing to its advantages in structural simplicity and capability of providing various information such as static and total pressure, speed, and pitch and yaw angles. In this study, a five-hole multi-function probe (FHMFP) is developed and its calibration is conducted using multiple regressions. In this work a calibration study on the FHMFP, an air data sensor for helicopters, is reported. It is shown that the pitch and yaw angles' accuracy of calibration is ${\pm}0.91^{\circ}$ at a cone angle of $0^{\circ}{\sim}30^{\circ}$ and ${\pm}2.0^{\circ}$ at $30^{\circ}{\sim}43^{\circ}$, respectively, which is summarized in table 3.

Underwater Moving Source Tracking Using a Coherent Broad-band Matched Field Processing Technology (일관성 광대역 정합장처리에 의한 수중 이동음원의 위치추적)

  • The shallow-water environment presents additional challenges arising from the complex interaction patterns of the sound with the sea bed. In order to overcome the difficulties generated by shallow-water propagation, broad-band matched field processing has been employed in an effort to increase robustness by utilizing multiple frequency information. In this paper, a coherent broad-band matched field processor is introduced that incorporates the spatial coherence of the acoustic field not only over one frequency but across frequencies. The incoherent and coherent processors are applied to the experimental data where it is shown that both processors give a high probability of correct localization. Also it is found that a coherent processor has better performance in the sidelobe pattern of ambiguity surfaces.

Blind Watermarking Using HVS and Wavelet Transform (HVS 모델과 웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 블라인드 워터마킹)

  • In this paper, we propose a blind watermarking that embeds watermarks into wavelet middle frequency subbands using human visual system. Wavelet middle frequency pairs(MFP) show similar distortion against general image processing attacks such as compression and filtering. So the quantization between MFPs is more robust than conventional methods that directly quantize DWT coefficients. We use a noise visibility function(NVF) to obtain a good visual quality This is able to preserve embedding positions after many attacks. Our experimental results show that the proposed scheme is robust to various image processing such as JPEG, while preserving good visual quality above 44㏈.
