A CFAR algorithm for weibull clutter is discussed. The Maximum a posteriori(MAP) estimator for two parameters(skewness and scale) of the weibull clutter is proposed, assuming the probability density function of skewness parameter is known. And proposed MAP estimator is compared with the Maximum likelihood(ML) estimator. Using this MAP estimator, we can design CFAR detector which is shown to have smaller CFAR loss than ML CFAR detector by the statistical simulation method.
We propose a novel phase-based method for single-channel speech enhancement to extract and enhance the desired signals in noisy environments by utilizing the phase information. In the method, a phase-dependent a priori signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is estimated in the log-mel spectral domain to utilize both the magnitude and phase information of input speech signals. The phase-dependent estimator is incorporated into the conventional magnitude-based decision-directed approach that recursively computes the a priori SNR from noisy speech. Additionally, we reduce the performance degradation owing to the one-frame delay of the estimated phase-dependent a priori SNR by using a minimum mean square error (MMSE)-based and maximum a posteriori (MAP)-based estimator. In our speech enhancement experiments, the proposed phase-dependent a priori SNR estimator is shown to improve the output SNR by 2.6 dB for both the MMSE-based and MAP-based estimator cases as compared to a conventional magnitude-based estimator.

Conventional noise reduction filtering schemes realize limited improvements of the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in the low-level noisy images. The flatness degree and the edge information are effectively used to estimate the noise volume. We propose a noise estimator for reducing noise in the AWGN (additive white gaussian noise) corrupted images using three intermediate image maps (FGM(flatness gray map), FIM(flatness index map), NEM(noise estimate map)). The proposed noise estimator is fed into the conventional noise reduction filters as a pre-processor. The performance of noise reduction is tested in the various AWGN corrupted images.

The decoding of Turbo-Code relies on the application of a soft input/soft output decoders which can be realized using maximum-a-posteriori(MAP) symbol estimator[l]. Radix-2 MAP decoder can not be used for high speed communications because of a large number of interleaver block size N. This paper proposed a new simple method for radix-4 MAP decoder based on radix-2 MAP decoder in order to reduce the interleave block size. A branch metrics, forward and backward recursive functions are proposed for applying to radix-4 MAP structure with symbol interleaver. Radix-4 MAP decoder shall be illustratively described and its error performance capability shall be compared to conventional radix-2 MAP decoder in AWGN channel.

This paper presents a novel de-interlacing algorithm that can make up motion compensation errors by using maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimator. First, a proper registration is performed between a current field and its adjacent fields, and the progressive frame corresponding to the current field is found via MAP estimator based on the computed registration information. Here, in order to obtain a stable solution, well-known bilateral total variation (BTV)-based regularization is employed. Next, so-called feathering artifacts are detected on a block basis effectively. So, edge-directional interpolation is applied to the pixels where feathering artifact may happen, instead of the above-mentioned temporal de-interlacing. Experimental results show that the PSNR of the proposed algorithm is on average 4dB higher than that of previous studies and provides the better subjective quality than the previous works.
In this paper, a turbo equalizer is proposed for the digital video broadcasting for terrestrial - 2nd generation (DVB-T2) system. The proposed turbo equalizer is consisted with the maximum a posteriori (MAP) and low density parity check (LDPC) decoder. The channel information for the soft-input-soft-output (SISO) MAP equalizer is based on the least square (LS) channel estimator. The performance is analyzed through computer simulations in terms of the iteration number.

In this paper, we propose an inter-symbol interference (ISI) estimation scheme based on the maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm for faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) systems. Unfortunately, the ISI estimator based on the MAP algorithm requires relatively high computational complexity. To reduce the complexity of the MAP based ISI estimator, we propose a hybrid ISI estimation scheme based on the MAP and successive interference cancellation (SIC) algorithms. The proposed scheme not only offers good ISI estimation performances but also requires reasonably low complexity.
This work presents the design of a dual extended Kalman filter (EKF) as a state/parameter estimator suitable for adaptive state-of-charge (SoC) estimation of an automotive lithium-iron-phosphate ($LiFePO_4$) cell. The design of both estimators is based on an experimentally identified, lumped-parameter equivalent battery electrical circuit model. In the proposed estimation scheme, the parameter estimator has been used to adapt the SoC EKF-based estimator, which may be sensitive to nonlinear map errors of battery parameters. A suitable weighting scheme has also been proposed to achieve a smooth transition between the parameter estimator-based adaptation and internal model within the SoC estimator. The effectiveness of the proposed SoC and parameter estimators, as well as the combined dual estimator, has been verified through computer simulations on the developed battery model subject to New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) related operating regimes.

This paper proposes an image segmentation algorithm based on fusion of range and intensity images. Based on Bayesian theory, a priori knowledge is encoded by the Markov random field (MRF). A maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimator is constructed using the features extracted from range and intensity images. Objects are approximated by local planar surfaces in range images, and the parametric space is constructed with the surface parameters estimated pixelwise. In intensity images the ${\alpha}$-trimmed variance constructs the intensity feature. An image is segmented by optimizing the MAP estimator that is constructed using a likelihood function based on edge information. Computer simulation results shw that the proposed fusion algorithm effectively segments the images independentl of shadow, noise, and light-blurring.

The input estimation method estimates maneuvering input acceleration in order to track a maneuvering target. In this paper, the optimal input estimator is derived by choosing the MAP hypothesis among maneuvering input transition hypotheses under the assumption that a maneuvering input acceleration is a semi-Markov process. The optimal input estimation method cannot be realized because the optimal filter should consider every maneuver onset time hypothesis from filter starting time to current time which increase rapidly. Hence the suboptimal filter using a sliding window is proposed. Since the proposed method can consider all hypotheses of input transitions inside the window, it is general enough to include Bogler's input estimation method. Simulation results show, however, that we can obtain a good performance even when the filter considering just one input transition in the window is used. (author). 9 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab.
