BOUNDED MOVEMENT OF GROUP ACTIONS

  • Suppose that G is a group of permutations of a set ${\Omega}$. For a finite subset ${\gamma}$of${\Omega}$, the movement of ${\gamma}$ under the action of G is defined as move(${\gamma}$):=$max\limits_{g{\epsilon}G}|{\Gamma}^{g}{\backslash}{\Gamma}|$, and ${\gamma}$ will be said to have restricted movement if move(${\gamma}$)<|${\gamma}$|. Moreover if, for an infinite subset ${\gamma}$of${\Omega}$, the sets|{\Gamma}^{g}{\backslash}{\Gamma}| are finite and bounded as g runs over all elements of G, then we may define move(${\gamma}$)in the same way as for finite subsets. If move(${\gamma}$)${\leq}$m for all ${\gamma}$${\subseteq}$${\Omega}$, then G is said to have bounded movement and the movement of G move(G) is defined as the maximum of move(${\gamma}$) over all subsets ${\gamma}$ of ${\Omega}$. Having bounded movement is a very strong restriction on a group, but it is natural to ask just which permutation groups have bounded movement m. If move(G)=m then clearly we may assume that G has no fixed points is${\Omega}$, and with this assumption it was shown in [4, Theorem 1]that the number t of G=orbits is at most 2m-1, each G-orbit has length at most 3m, and moreover|${\Omega}$|${\leq}$3m+t-1${\leq}$5m-2. Moreover it has recently been shown by P. S. Kim, J. R. Cho and C. E. Praeger in [1] that essentially the only examples with as many as 2m-1 orbits are elementary abelian 2-groups, and by A. Gardiner, A. Mann and C. E. Praeger in [2,3]that essentially the only transitive examples in a set of maximal size, namely 3m, are groups of exponent 3. (The only exceptions to these general statements occur for small values of m and are known explicitly.) Motivated by these results, we would decide what role if any is played by primes other that 2 and 3 for describing the structure of groups of bounded movement.

도시 대기 부유분진 중 음이온의 농도 (Concentrations of Anions in Airbone Particulate Matters in Metropolitan Area)

  • Total suspended particles were collected and size-fractionated by an Andersen high-volume air sampler at Chungang University located near the Han River, Seoul, Korea, during the period form March, 1986 to August, 1986 and from March, 1987 to February, 1988. The concentrations and the particle size distributions of anions such as chloride, nitrate and sulfate were determined by ion chromatography. The averages of concentrations were $125.43\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1986 and $189.19\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1987 for total suspended particles (TSP), $2.12\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1986 and $4.14\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1987 for chloride, $4.39\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1986 and $5.95\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1987 for nitrate and $11.98\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1986 and $19.29\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in 1987 for sulfate. Size distribution of TSP was found to be generally bimodal. Chloride exhibited a seasonal variation in the distribution; fine particles were predominant in the winter whereas the concentration of coarse ones was almost same through four seasons. Nitrate showed a distribution similar to that of chloride. Such variation was less significant for sulfate. For chloride and nitrate, the relationship between the monthly averaged distribution pattern and air temperature was analyzed in terms of fine fraction (FF). The FF decreased with increasing air temperature.

  • 쌀과 히솝을 이용하여 히솝쌀음료를 가공하고자 제조특성을 조사하였다. 히솝쌀음료의 제조조건은 amylase 함량($X_1$, 1~5 mL), 당화시간($X_2$, 10~18 hr) 및 히솝 함량($X_3$, 1.0~3.0 g)으로 당화 후 당도, 황색도, 관능적 특성을 반응표면분석을 통하여 모니터링 하였다. 당화 중 당 함량이 가장 많이 생성되는 조건은 amylase 함량 4.96 mL, 당화시간 14.93 hr 및 히솝 함량 2 g에서 $9.62^{\circ}Brix$로 나타났다. 황색도인 Hunter's color b가 가장 높게 나타나는 조건은 amylase 함량 1.90 mL, 당화시간 16.64 hr 및 히솝 함량 2.51 g에서 $14.86^{\circ}Brix$로 나타났다. 색상에 대한 최대의 관능평점은 amylase 함량 4.60 mL, 당화시간 15.66 hr 및 히솝 함량 1.57 g에서 4.09로 나타났다. 향미에 대한 최대의 관능평점은 amylase 함량 3.46 mL, 당화시간 10.79 hr 및 히솝 함량 1.45 g에서 3.99로 나타났다. 맛에 대한 최대의 관능평점은 amylase 함량 3.67 mL, 당화시간 17.64 hr 및 히솝 함량 1.76 g에서 3.17로 나타났다. 소비자의 종합적인 선호도를 나타내는 전반적인 기호도는 amylase 함량 3.73 mL, 당화시간 13.66 hr 및 히솝 함량 1.85 g에서 3.61로 가장 높게 나타나 최적조건을 설정할 수 있었다.

당근세포의 현탁배양에 의한 세포성장 모델연구 (A Study on the Mathematical Model of Cell Growth by Carrot Cell Suspension Culture)

  • 당근세포의 현탁배양에서 배지중 제한영양소인 인산염과 글루코우즈 농도에 대한 당근세포 배양특성에 관한 실험으로부터 다음의 결론을 얻었다. 1) 배지중의 글로코우즈와 인산염을 제한영양소로 하였을 때, 현탁배양 중의 글루코우즈의 농도 1.49g/l - 3.01g /l, 인산염의 농도 0.08mM - 1.06mM의 범위에서 세포성장 정체기에 도달하는 시간은 13.2hr-66.4hr였고 제한영양소의 전환율은 초기 글루코우즈와 인산염의 농도의 5~30% 범위내에 분포되었다. 2) 제한 영양소의 저농도범위에서의 농도변화에 따른 세포의 비성장속도, $\mu$$0.15day^{-1}$$0.3day^{-1}$사이의 값으로 일정한 경향을 보이지 않았는데, 이것은 제한요소가 저농도로 존재할 때 세포의 비성장속도에 미치는 영향이 적음을 알 수 있다. 3) 제한 영양소의 소모량과 세포증가량 사이에는 선형적 관계를 나타내며, 제한 영양소 글루코우즈에 대한 세포수율($Y_{x/sG}$)은 인산염 0.32mM, 글루코우즈 2.67g/l에서 $98.71{\times}10^{10}개\;/\;g로$ 최대값을 나타내었다. 4) 제한 영양소의 비($s_G/s_P$)에 대한 비성장속도, $\mu$ 및 세포수율($Y_{x/s_G}$는 두 농도의 비($s_G/s_P$)가 20mM/mM-120mM/mM 사이에서 임의적으로 분포하였다.

일부 제련 및 리사지 사업장에서 공기중 납 노출농도의 변화 (The change of air lead concentrations in litharge making and smelting industries)

  • To provide necessary information for future environmental monitoring of smelting and litharge making industries in Korea, environmental monitoring dataset of air lead concentration of 4 lead industries(1 primary smelting, 2 secondary smelting and 1 litharge making industry) were analyzed from 1994 to 2007. Data were compared using geometric mean and standard deviation with minimum and maximum values according to year of measurement, type of lead industries and type of operation of lead industries. The geometric mean and standard deviation of air concentration for a total of 1140 samples in all lead industries for overall 14 years were 70.7${\mu}g/m^3$ and 5.51 with minimum of 1${\mu}g/m^3$ and maximum of 9,185 ${\mu}g/m^3$. The overall geometric means of air concentration were above the permissible exposure levels(PEL) until year of 2001 and thereafter they were remained at the level of half of PEL. The geometric means of primary smelting, secondary smelting and litharge making industry for overall 14 years were 21.7${\mu}g/m^3$(number of samples: 353), 82.5${\mu}g/m^3$(number of samples: 357) and 164.2 ${\mu}g/m^3$(number of samples: 430) respectively. In primary smelting industry, the highest geometric mean air concentration was 35.4 ${\mu}g/m^3$ in the secondary smelting operation; followed by casting operation (24.9 ${\mu}g/m^3$) and melting operation (14.9 ${\mu}g/m^3$), respectively. On the other hand, in secondary smelting industries, the highest geometric mean air concentration was 125.4${\mu}g/m^3$ in melting operation; followed by casting operation (90.5${\mu}g/m^3$) and pre-treatment operation (43.4${\mu}g/m^3$), respectively. However, in litharge making industries, there were no significant differences of geometric mean air concentrations between litharge operation and stabilizer operation. The proportion of over PEL (50${\mu}g/m^3$) was highest in litharge industry and followed by secondary smelting industries. However The proportions of over PEL(${\mu}g./m^3.$) were decreased by the years of environmental monitoring. The significant reduction of mean air lead concentration since year of 2000 was observed due to more active environmental engineering control and new introduction of new operation in manufacturing process, but may be also influenced by non-engineering method such as reduction of operation hours or reduction of exposure time during actual environmental measurement by industrial hygienist according to more strict enforcement of occupational and safety law by the government.

  • The purpose of this study was to make a comprehensive study & evaluation of the oral status of mental retarded children. The auther examined intraorally 486 (male; 311, female;175) mental retarded children. The result was as follows; (General mental retarded children means the children who live in their parent's home, & orphan mental retarded children means the children who live in orphanage.) 1. The dft rate was 31.6% in general mental retarded children (G.m.r.c.) & 20.7% in orphan mental retarded children (O. m. r. c.). The dft index was 3.73 in G.m.r.c. & 2.15 in O.m.r.c. 2. The DMFT rate was 24.6% in female G.m.r.c., 16.7% in male G.m.r.c., 12.7% in female O.m.r.c., 8.4% in male O.m.r.c. The DMFT index was 4.94 in female G.m.r.c., 4.01 in male G.m.r.c., 1.40 in male O.m.r.c., 2.75 in female O.m.r.c. 3. The malocclusion prevalence was 57.3%. the class I malocclusion was 14.2% Class II malocclusion 19.3%, Class III malocclusion 23.5%. The children with Down's syndrome had 60.0% of class III malocclusion prevalence. 4. The dental calculus index was 1.97 in male O.m.r.c., 1.81 in female O.m.r.c., 1.30 in male G.m.r.e., 1.13 in female G.m.r.c. 5. The dental plaque index was 3.06 in female G.m.r.c., 3.00 in male Gm.r.e. 2.70 in male O.m.r,c., 2.32 in female O.m.r.c.

Rat에 있어서 탈지사료 및 철분투여가 다불포화 지방산, vitamin E 및 그 유도체에 미치는 영향 (Effect of administration with fat-free diet and dietary iron on polyunsaturated fatty acid, vitamin E and their derivatives in male rats)

  • This study was designed to elucidate the effects of administration with dietary iron and fat-free diet on the contents of unsaturated fatty acid in phospholipid molecules, vitamin E contents and malondialdehyde contents in liver, kidney, muscle and testis of the male rats. The rats were divided into 3 experimental groups, namely, control, iron injection and fat-free diet administration groups. The control group was fed with normal diet, iron injection group injected intraperitoneally 20mg of ferric hydroxide/100g of body weight 20 times every 3 days and fat-free diet group administered lipid extraction diet with hexane in normal diet. All experimental groups were maintained for 60 days with feeding on the respective ration. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. In the mean contents of unsaturated fatty acid in phospholipid of liver, kidney, muscle and testis among groups, control group was 21.31mg/g, 19.38mg/g, 1.67mg/g, 13.68mg/g, iron injection group was 13.83mg/g, 16.53mg/g, 0.71mg/g, 10.11mg/g and fat-free diet group was 21.07mg/g, 19.38mg/g, 1.49mg/g and 13.40mg/g, respectively. 2. In the mean contents of vitamin E in liver, kidney, muscle and testis among groups, control group was 6.77mg/g, 1.93mg/g, 0.12mg/g, 0.17mg/g, iron injection group was 3.16mg/g, 0.86mg/g, 0.07mg/g, 0.09mg/g and fat-free diet group was 7.41mg/g, 1.50mg/g, 0.11mg/g and 0.16mg/g, respectively. 3. In the mean contents of malondialdehyde in liver, kidney, muscle, testis and serum among groups, control group was 11.29nM/0.1g, 23.25nM/0.1g, 42.47nM/0.1g, 7.01nM/0.1g, 4.33nM/ml, iron injection group was 34.98nM/0.1g, 40.55nM/0.1g, 72.21nM/0.1g, 12.26nM/0.1g, 11.27nM/ml and fat-free diet group was 8.07nM/0.1g, 20.63nM/0.1g, 39.92nM/0.1g, 6.95nM/0.1g and 4.27nM/ml, respectively.

봉독(蜂毒) 약침액(藥鍼液)의 세포독성(細胞毒性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (The Study on the Cytotoxicity of Compounds of Bee Venom for Herb-Acupuncture)

  • Objective : This study was undertaken to determine which compound of Bee Venom for herb-acupuncture has cytotoxicity on mouse mast cell line. Methods : We compared crude bee venom and its compounds such as melittin, mast cell degranulating peptide (MCD peptide), apamin with control groups on cytotoxicity by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Results & Conclusion : 1. Crude bee venom showed significant cytotoxic effect(p<0.01) in 1 hour treatment with $1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ in comparison with control group in 1 hour treatment with low concentration of $10-4{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-3{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-2{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ and $1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, but it showed no significant cytotoxic effect in 6 hours treatment. 2. Melittin group showed no significant cytotoxic effect in comparison with control group in 1 and 6 hours treatment with low concentration of $10-4{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-3{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-2{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ and $1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$. 3. MCD peptide and Apamin group showed no significant cytotoxic effect in comparison with control group in 1 and 6 hours treatment with low concentration of $10-4{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ $10-3{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-2{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $10-1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ and $1{\mu}g/m{\ell}$. 4. Crude bee venom showed significant cytotoxic effect(p<0.01) in 1 and 6 hours treatment in comparison with control group in 1 and 6 hours treatment with high concentration of $10{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, $20{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ and $102{\mu}g/m{\ell}$. 5. Melittin group showed significant cytotoxic effect(p<0.01) in 1 hour treatment in comparison with control group in 1 hour treatment with high concentration of $10{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ but it showed no significant cytotoxic effect in 6 hours treatment. 6. Crude bee venom and its compounds have more cytotoxic effect in 1 hour treatment than in 6 hours treatment. It means cytotoxicity tends to decrease according to the treatment time.

지베렐린산(GA3) 처리에 따른 크리핑 벤트그래스 (Agrostis palustris Huds. 'Penn A1')의 생장 및 품질 변화 (Changes in the Growth and Quality of Creeping Bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds. 'Penn A1') Following Gibberelinic Acid (GA3) Treatment)

  • This study evaluated the effects of gibberellic acid (GA3) on the growth and quality of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.). Experimental treatments included a No application of fertilizer and GA3 (NFG) Control [3 N active ingredient (a.i.) g/m2], 0.3GA3 (GA3 0.3 a.i. mg/m2/200 mL), 0.6GA3 (GA3 0.6 a.i. mg/m2/200 mL), 1.2GA3 (GA3 1.2 a.i. mg/m2/200 mL), and 2.4GA3 (GA3 2.4 a.i. mg/m2/200 mL). Additionally, the study included a 1.5N+GA3 experiment with similar GA3 treatments combined with 1.5N a.i. g/m2 : NFG, Control (3N a.i. g/m2), 1.5N+ 0.3GA3 (1.5N a.i. g/m2+GA3 0.3 a.i. mg/m2/200 mL), 1.5N+0.6GA3 (1.5N a.i. g/m2+GA3 0.6 a.i. mg/m2/200 mL), 1.5N+1.2GA3 (1.5N a.i. g/m2+GA3 1.2 a.i. mg/m2/ 200 mL), and 1.5N+2.4GA3 (1.5N a.i. g/m2+GA3 2.4 a.i. mg/m2/200 mL). Compared to the NFG, turf color index chlorophyll content was not significantly different (p< 0.05). However, shoot length in 1.2GA3, 2.4GA3, 1.5N+0.3GA3, 1.5N+0.6GA3, 1.5N+1.2GA3, and 1.5N+2.4GA3 treatments increased by 0.8%, 10.6%, 5.15%, 8.3%, 13.5 %, and 21.6%, respectively, compared to the control. As compared to the control, clipping yield in 1.5N+1.2GA3 and 1.5N+2.4GA3 treatments increased by 7.1% and 14.3 %, respectively. These results indicated that GA3 application increased shoot length, with the 1.2GA3 treatment showing shoot length similar to the control (3N a.i. g /m2 ).

Concentration and Distribution Characteristics of PM10 in High Schools in the Ulsan Metropolitan Area

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the concentration and distribution characteristics of $PM_{10}$ at high schools classrooms in Ulsan and its surroundings. This study evaluated $PM_{10}$ levels in classrooms at 79 high schools in Ulsan from May 2008 to May 2009. The average $PM_{10}$ level was 63.8 ${\mu}g/m^3$, and the rate of exceeding the statutory maintenance limit was 16.0%. The average $PM_{10}$ level was higher in general schools (64.9 ${\mu}g/m^3$) compared to professional schools (59.2 ${\mu}g/m^3$), and private schools (66.6 ${\mu}g/m^3$) was higher than that of public schools (62.5 ${\mu}g/m^3$). The average $PM_{10}$ level (68.4 ${\mu}g/m^3$) in general classrooms was significantly (p < 0.01) higher than that in multi-purpose ones (54.6 ${\mu}g/m^3$), and first-year student classrooms (73.3 ${\mu}g/m^3$) was significantly (p < 0.05) higher than that in second or third grade ones (67.6 ${\mu}g/m^3$, 51.5 ${\mu}g/m^3$, respectively). The $PM_{10}$ level in schools in Dong-Gu in the vicinity of assorted industrial complexes was higher than that of schools located in other districts around the Ulsan Metropolitan Area. The regression model showed that $PM_{10}$ level was positively associated with number of students and relative humidity.
