Detection of Resistance Mutation to Lamivudine in HIV-1 Infected Patients (Lamivudine 복용 HIV-1 감염자에게서 내성 돌연변이 검색)

  • To investigate resistance to lamivudine (3TC), we examined the incidence of M184V in 20 HIV-1 patients treated with 3TC for $13.1{\pm}9$ months. Fourteen of 20 patients had been exposed to zidovudine (ZDV) or didanosine (ddI) prior to 3TC therapy. Nested PCR targeting to reverse transcriptase (RT) and direct sequencing were performed for peripheral blood mononuclear cells sampled serially. There were resistance mutations to ZDV in at least 9 patients at baseline, although there was no resistance mutation to 3TC. We could detect M184V in 6 (30%) out of 20 patients. The incidence of M184V increased as the duration of therapy prolongs (13% in samples <12 months; 47% in samples ${\ge}12$ months). The frequency of mutation M184V was higher in patients with previous mutation to ZDV than in patients with wild type. Resistance mutation was not detected in 7 patients. This study shows that resistance to 3TC tends to develop rapidly in patients with baseline mutations or two drugs combination therapy than in those treated simultaneously with triple drugs. This report is the first on resistance to 3TC in Korean AIDS patients.

  • This work conducted the experimental analysis on ultrasonic acoustic matching in order to measure the accuracy of gaseous fuel level values. The experimental devices were used as 12V-DC supply, control T1 board, oscilloscope (DS01072B), ultrasonic probe and pattern table. The research models were designed by ceramic assay which can determine the transmitting and receiving energies. The result of the ringing area could verify the increased characteristics in the order of D (0.180m) < E (0.184m) < B (0.204m) < A (0.234m) < F (0.244m) < C (0.247m) models based on initial 2.9V of the maximum peak voltage. From the experimental results, the model designed by Ø21*3+2t of the matching layer was notable in that the most outstanding directivity energy could be created.

Corrosion and Repassivation Behavior of Stainless steels in Chloride and Thiosulfate Containing Environments

  • In this study, the combined effect of chloride and thiosulfate ions and the effect of the ratio of the two ions on passivation in 304L, 316L, and the duplex stainless steels 2101 and 2205 are investigated using potentiostatic scratch tests. Cyclic polarization and the scratch tests were used to understand the role of anions on localized corrosion in these systems. It was found that the thiosulfate pitting began at a lower potential for 2101 than 304L in 0.6 M NaCl + 0.03 M $Na_2S_2O_3$ solution. The pit morphologies for 304L, 316L, and 2101 in an 0.6 M NaCl + 0.03 M $Na_2S_2O_3$ solution were very different from each other. The results indicate that the pitting switches from predominately thiosulfate pitting to chloride pitting at approximately 0.1 V.

  • 전자선 직접묘사 (E-beam direct writing lithography) 방법을 이용하여 $0.2\mum$$0.3\mum$ 의 게이트길이를 가지는 NMOS 트랜지스터를 제작하였다. 게이트만 전자선 직접묘사 방법으로 정의하고 나머지는 optical stepper를 이용하는 Mix & Match 방식을 사용하였다. 게이트산화막의 두께는 최소 6nm까지 성장시켰으며, 트랜지스터구조로서는 lightly-doped drain(LDD) 구조를 채택하였다. 짧은 채널효과 및 punch through를 줄이기 위한 방안으로 채널에 깊이 붕소이온을 주입하는 방법과 well을 고농도로 도핑하는 방법 및 소스와 드레인에 $p^-$halo를 이온주입하는 enhanced lightly-doped drain(ELDD) 방법을 적용하였으며, 제작후 성능을 각각 비교하였다. 제작된 $0.2\mum$의 게이트길이를 가지는 소자에서는 문턱전압과 subthreshold기울기는 각각 0.69V 및 88mV/dec. 이었으며, Vds=3.3V에서 측정한 포화 transconductance와 포화 드레인전류는 각각 200mS/mm, 0.6mA/$\mum$이었다. $0.3\mum$소자에서는 문턱전압과 subthreshold 기울기는 각각 0.72V 및 82mV/dec. 이었으며, Vds=3.3V에서 측정한 포화 transconductance는 184mS/mm이었다. 이러한 결과는 전원전압이 3.3V일 때 실제 ULSI에 적용가능함을 알 수 있다.

Fabrication and Characteristics of 10-V Josephson Junction Array (10-V 조셉슨접합 어레이의 제작 및 특성)

  • 10-V Josephson junction array arranged in 8 parallel stripline paths was fabricated using self-aligning and reactive ion etching techniques. These techniques were introduced in detail with aim of obtaining high-quality junctions. The array has 18,184 Josephson junctions with the area of $12\mu\textrm{m}$$\times$$38\mu\textrm{m}$. The gap voltage and minimum critical current density were about 2.7 ㎷ and /$23 A\textrm{cm}^2$, respectively. And the critical current density and leakage current at 5 volt were about 27 $A/\textrm{cm}^2$ and $5\mu\textrm{A}$, respectively When operated in the frequency range of 76-88 ㎓, the away generated constant voltage steps up to 14-19 V. The step size near 10-V was more than 7 $\mu\textrm{A}$.

  • The ${\alpha}-and\;{\beta}$-isomer of 4-nitroazoxybenzenes have been separated by liquid chromatography and their U.V. spectra were examined. The n${\to}{\pi}^{\ast}$ transition band of the compounds did not appear, likewise the cases of other compounds of the series. Transition band of the new isomer were as usual as those of other azoxy-compounds, whereas the ${\pi}{\to}{\pi}^{\ast}$ transition band of the other isomer which is reported in the literature shown peculier hypochromic shift and hypochromic effect. From the spectroscopic point of view it is very likely that the new isomer (m.p. $184-5^{\circ}C$) is ${\alpha}$-isomer and the other one (m.p. $152^{circ}C$) is ${\beta}$-isomer contrary to the literature.

A Microwave Push-Push VCO with Enhanced Power Efficiency in GaInP/GaAs HBT Technology (향상된 전력효율을 갖는 GaInP/GaAs HBT 마이크로파 푸쉬-푸쉬 전압조정발진기)

  • This paper presents a new push-push VCO technique that extracts a second harmonic output signal from a capacitive commonnode in a negativegm oscillator topology. The generation of the $2^{nd}$ harmonics is accounted for by the nonlinear current-voltage characteristic of the emitter-base junction diode causing; 1) significant voltage clipping and 2) different rising and falling time during the switching operation of core transistors. Comparative investigations show the technique is more power efficient in the high-frequency region that a conventional push-push technique using an emitter common node. Prototype 12GHz and 17GHz MMIC VCO were realized in GaInP/GaAs HBT technology. They have shown nominal output power of -4.3dBm and -5dBm, phase noise of -108 dBc/Hz and -110.4 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset, respectively. The phase noise results are also equivalent to a VCO figure-of-merit of -175.8 dBc/Hz and -184.3 dBc/Hz, while dissipate 25.68mW(10.7mA/2.4V) and 13.14mW(4.38mA/3.0V), respectively.

Ionic Basis of Resting Membrane Potential in the Coronary Sinus Cells of the Rabbit (토끼 Coronary Sinus에서의 안정막 전압에 관한 연구)

  • Membrane potential of cells in the isolated rabbit coronary sinus was measured by conventional glass microelectrode and investigated the effect of $[K^+]_0$ variation in control, 20 mM and Ach-containing Tyrode solution. The results obtained were as follows: 1) The resting membrane potential exposed to normal Tyrode solution containing 3 mM $K^+\;was\;about\;-60{\sim}\;-65mV$. At extracellular $K^+$ concentrations from 1 to 30 mM the resting Potential was reasonably well described by Goldman -Hodgkin -Katz equation on the assumption that $[K^+]_1$ was 150 mM and that the ratio of membrane permeability coefficient for $Na^+\;and\;K^+,\;P_{Na}/P_K\;({\alpha})$ was 0.07. 2) In 20 mM Na-Tyrode solution (replacing by equimolar Tris) the resting membrane potential was hyperpolarized by 15 to 20 mV and showed slightly deviated to depolarized direction compared to the predicted value by Goldman-Hodgkin -Katz equation. 3) In the presence of $10^{-6}M$ Ach, the resting potentials at $[K^+]_0$ levels from 1 to 30 mM were well fitted with the predicted value on the assumption that $P_{Na}/P_K$ was 0.0144. It could be concluded that the low resting membrane potential of coronary sinus cells reflects a relatively high ratio $P_{Na}/P_K$ of about 0.07.

Camelina oil transesterification using mixed catalyst of tetra methyl amonium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide on the tubular reactor

  • The analysis of reaction kinetics provided that the reaction order was the $1^{st}$ of triglyceride and the rate constant was 0.067 $min^{-1}$. The transesterification of camelina oil using 0.6 wt% mixed catalyst which consists of 40 v/v% of potassium hydroxide (1 wt%) and 60 v/v% of tetra methyl ammonium hydroxide (0.8 wt%), was carried out at $65^{\circ}C$ on the tubular reactor packed with static mixer. The conversion was shown to be 95.5% at the 6:1 molar ratio of methanol to oil, flow rate of feed of 3.0 mL/min and 24 of element of static mixer. The volume of washing water emitted by 0.6 wt% mixed catalyst was the half of the volume emitted by 1 wt% potassium hydroxide.

  • In this paper, an I/Q channel 12bits 40MS/s Pipeline Analog to Digital Converter that is able to apply to WLAN/WMAN system is proposed. The proposed ADC integrates DLL based duty-correction circuit which corrects the fluctuations in the duksty cycle caused by miniaturization of CMOS devices and faster operating speeds. It is designed as a 1% to 99% input clock duty cycle could be corrected to 50% output duty cycle. The prototype ADC is implemented in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS n-well 1-poly 6-metal process and dissipates 184mW at 1.8V single supply The SNDR of the proposed 12bit ADC is 52dB and SFDR of 59dBc(@Fs=20MHz, Fin=1MHz) is measured.
