  • 차세대 이동통신 네트워크는 3G 진화망, 차세대 무선랜, WiMAX/WiBro 등 다양한 무선 접속 기술이 All-IP 기반 핵심망에 연결되어 통합되는 형태로 발전하고 있으며 무선 접속 기술의 커버리지에 따라 이기종 무선망이 중첩되어 운영될 수 있으나, 이에 대한 사항은 고려되고 있지 않은 상황이다. 이에 따라 4G 를 위한 차세대 네트워크와 현존하는 이기종 인터페이스를 지원하는 서비스 프레임워크가 요구되는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 현재 사용되는 MIPv4 를 기반으로 하는 이기종 무선서비스 프레임워크를 위한 Hand-off 상황에 따른 패킷손실을 최소화 하는 방안을 제안한다.

Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna for Multi Mode & Multi Band (MMMB) Communication Systems (셀룰러 및 커낵티비티 대역 통합용 동시동작모드 주파수 재구성 안테나)

  • Two frequency-reconfigurable antennas have been designed and combined in a space with limited volume, i.e., 40mm ${\times}$ 20mm ${\times}$ 6mm. Each antenna can be reconfigured to operate at different frequency bands depending on the state of an embedded switch, which is implemented using a PIN diode. The first antenna can be switched between 0.82GHz ${\sim}$ 0.96GHz band (GSM/ CDMA) and 1.7GHz ${\sim}$ 2.17GHz band (DCS/ PCS/ WCDMA), which are cellular bands. The second antenna can be switched between 3.4GHz ${\sim}$ 3.6GHz band (mWiMax) and 2.3GHz ${\sim}$ 2.5GHz, 5.15GHz ${\sim}$ 5.35GHz bands (WiBro/ WLAN 11a/b/g/n), which are connectivity bands. The proposed combined antenna operates both over cellular bands and connectivity bands concurrently. The choice of the operation bands is made independently by the states of the two switches.

Fast Group Scanning Scheme in IEEE 802.16e Networks (IEEE 802.16e에서 그룹 기반의 빠른 스캐닝 기법)

  • The mobile station which is about to do handover in IEEE 802.16e networks scans its neighboring base station channels to decide its next target base station. However, due to the lack of location information of its subscribers, the serving base station cannot provide any reliable candidate channel which is actually attachable by the scanning mobile stations, which makes the mobile station suffer from the long scanning time. Sometimes, long scanning time may cause the degradation of quality of service due to repeatable scan-duration or failure to start the handover procedure in time. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we propose a new protocol so called fast group scanning scheme, in which multiple mobile stations form a group to scan their neighboring base station channels simultaneously. Main contribution of this proposal is to find and decide a reliable target base station within a short scanning time. The fast group scanning scheme can be deployed to the cell network of the serving base station with a dynamic neighboring base station list management.

  • 최근에 3.5G, 4G 이동통신, WiMax 등 다양한 고속 무선 데이터 서비스의 발달이 급속도로 진행됨에 따라 기지국을 위한 무선 백홀의 전송속도가 현재 보다 급격히 높아질것으로 예상되며, 광 백본망에 연결되지 않은 빌딩들을 위한 광통신망과 빌딩간 'Last Mile' 구간에 대한 경제적인 통신망 확보가 요구되고 있다. 본 고에서는 경제적으로 Gbps급 광 백본망과 가입자를 연결하거나, Gbps급 사설통신망 및 백홀에 이용할 수 있는 E-band 이용 Multi-Gbps급 고정 점대점 통신 시스템과 송수신기 핵심 구성 부품의 기술 개발 동향을 소개하고자 한다.

Compact and Flexible Monopole Antenna for Ultra-Wideband Applications Deploying Fractal Geometry

  • This paper presents a compact ultra-wideband (UWB) flexible monopole antenna design on a paper substrate. The proposed antenna is made of iterations of a circular slot inside an octagonal metallic patch. This fractal-based geometry has been deployed to achieve compactness along with improved bandwidth, measured reflection coefficient -10 dB bandwidth ranging from 2.7 to 15.8 GHz. The overall size of the antenna is $26mm{\times}19mm{\times}0.5mm$, which makes it a compact one. The substrate used is paper and the main features like environment friendly, flexibility, green electronics applications and low cost of fabrication are the key factors for the proposed antenna. The aforementioned UWB prototype is suitable for many wireless communication systems such as WiMAX, WiFi, RFID and WSN applications. Antenna has been tested for the effect of bending by placing it over a curved surface of a very small radius of 10 mm.

  • 셀룰러 이동통신망을 이용한 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 전송 기술은 이미 수 년 전부터 표준화되어 왔지만 무선 전송 대역의 부족과 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 서비스의 필요성에 대한 문제로 상용화까지는 이루어지지 못하고 있었다. 그러나, 3GPP의 LTE와 mobile WiMAX 기술의 등장으로 인하여 전송 대역의 부족에 대한 문제가 해결되었고 스마트폰 등 첨단 기능을 가지는 이동 단말의 등장으로 인하여 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 서비스에 대한 요구가 증가되는 등 기술 및 시장에 형성되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 3GPP LTE에서 멀티미디어 멀티캐스트/브로드캐스트 전송 기술에 대한 표준화 동향에 대해서 살펴보고 이를 제공하기 위한 망구조에 대하여 설명한다. 그리고 3GPP LTE에서 동기화된 멀티셀 전송을 위한 전송 기술, 프레임 구조아 동기화 기술에 대해서 기술한다.

  • 본 논문은 WiMAX 와 WLAN 네트워크 간 빠른 핸드오버를 위한 이동성 관리 방안을 제안한다. 제안방안은 MPLS 네트워크 환경을 기반으로 하고, 공용 인증키로써 MA ID(Mobility Agent Identifier)를 할당하여 핸드오버 시 재인증(Re-authentication) 및 IP 재구성을 위한 시그널링 메시지를 간소화시킨다. 따라서 이동노드가 핸드오버 할 때마다 반복적으로 요구되는 두 동작에 대한 처리가 보다 신속히 이뤄지면서 핸드오버 지연 감소의 효과를 보인다. 제안방안에 의한 성능 향상을 검증하기 위해 수식을 이용하여 기존방안과 제안방안의 핸드오버 지연을 분석하였다. 그 결과 제안방안에서의 핸드오버 지연이 기존방안 보다 더 낮음을 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) estimation of IEEE 802.16m WirelessMAN-Advanced mobile station with simulation and implementation results. The downlink signal of IEEE 802.16m has two kinds of A-Preambles: the PA-preamble and the SA-preamble. This paper proposes the efficient method of estimating SINR with A-Preambles, by measuring noise power from PA-preamble and measuring interference power and signal power from SA-preamble. The proposed SINR measurement block contains important features such as subcarrier phase rotation elimination and simplified dB transform. The result of this paper is integrated to ETRI's IEEE 802.16m test mobile station, used for decision of adaptive-modulation-and-coding (AMC) and hand-over. It showed good measurement performance in simulation and unified system link test also.

A Novel Hearability Enhancement Method for Forward-Link Multilateration Using OFDM Signal

  • Together with the GPS-based approach, geo-location through mobile communication networks is a key technology for location-based service. To save the cost, most geo-location system is implemented on the existed network service, which has a cellular structure. Still, multilateration is limited in cellular structure because it is difficult for the mobile terminal to acquire distance measurements from multiple base stations. This low hearability in the receiver is caused by co-channel interference and multipath environment. Therefore, hearability enhancement is necessary for multilateration under multipath and interference environment. Former time domain based hearability methods were designed for real signals. However, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal, which its usage has been increased in digital wireless communication, is a complex signal. Thus, different hearability enhancement method is needed for OFDM signals. This paper proposes a hearability enhancement method for forward-link multilateration using OFDM signals, which employ interference cancellation and multipath mitigation. A novel interference cancellation and multipath mitigation strategy for complex-valued OFDM signals is presented that has an iterative structure. Simulation results show that the proposed multilateration method provides the user's position with an accuracy of less than 80m through the mobile WiMAX cellular network in multipath environment.

Photosynthetic and Growth Responses of Chinese Cabbage to Rising Atmospheric CO2 (대기 중 CO2 농도의 상승에 대한 배추의 광합성과 생장 반응)

  • The effects of elevated atmospheric $CO_2$ on photosynthesis and growth of Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris subsp. napus var. pekinensis) were investigated to predict productivity in highland cropping in an environment where $CO_2$ levels are increasing. Vegetative growth, based on fresh weight of the aerial part, and leaf characteristics (number, area, length, and width) of Chinese cabbage grown for 5 weeks, increased significantly under elevated $CO_2$ ($800{\mu}mol{\cdot}mol^{-1}$) compared to ambient $CO_2$ ($400{\mu}mol{\cdot}mol^{-1}$). The photosynthetic rate (A), stomatal conductance ($g_s$), and water use efficiency (WUE) increased, although the transpiration rate (E) decreased, under elevated atmospheric $CO_2$. The photosynthetic light-response parameters, the maximum photosynthetic rate ($A_{max}$) and apparent quantum yield (${\varphi}$), were higher at elevated $CO_2$ than at ambient $CO_2$, while the light compensation point ($Q_{comp}$) was lower at elevated $CO_2$. In particular, the maximum photosynthetic rate ($A_{max}$) was higher at elevated $CO_2$ by 2.2-fold than at ambient $CO_2$. However, the photosynthetic $CO_2$-response parameters such as light respiration rate ($R_p$), maximum Rubisco carboxylation efficiency ($V_{cmax}$), and $CO_2$ compensation point (CCP) were less responsive to elevated $CO_2$ relative to the light-response parameters. The photochemical efficiency parameters ($F_v/F_m$, $F_v/F_o$) of PSII were not significantly affected by elevated $CO_2$, suggesting that elevated atmospheric $CO_2$ will not reduce the photosynthetic efficiency of Chinese cabbage in highland cropping. The optimal temperature for photosynthesis shifted significantly by about $2^{\circ}C$ under elevated $CO_2$. Above the optimal temperature, the photosynthetic rate (A) decreased and the dark respiration rate ($R_d$) increased as the temperature increased. These findings indicate that future increases in $CO_2$ will favor the growth of Chinese cabbage on highland cropping, and its productivity will increase due to the increase in photosynthetic affinity for light rather than $CO_2$.
