The effect of mechanical, properties in the plastic zone near the crack-tip was investigated, under various controlled loading conditions, i.e., ${\Delta}K$ increasing, ${\Delta}K$ decreasing, and single overload test. For both ${\Delta}K$ decreasing test and ${\Delta}K$ increasing test with constant stress ratio, it is found that the ratio of material constant m'( ${\Delta}K$ decreasing test) to material constant m( ${\Delta}K$ increasing test) is larger than 1 for n<0.1, and it is equal to 1 for 0.10.2. A modified crack growth rate equation based on Forman's equation which applied stable region of fatigue crack propagation in ${\Delta}K$ decreasing test is proposed. Within the limit of this single overload test, an empirical relation between among the retardation ratio (Nd/ $N^{*}$), the strain hardening exponent (n) and the percent peak load (%PL) has been established.established.
This study investigated the estrogenicity of 4-nonylphenol (NP) and diethylstilbestrol (DES) in vitro during oocyte maturation in the marine fish, Tridentiger obscurus, using steroid hormone assays and GVBD assay. Vitellogenic (0.53mm diameter) and fully vitellogenic (0.75mm diameter) oocytes were in vitro exposed to NP (0.045 453.82 nM and DES (0.037 372.62 nM). In vitellogenic oocytes, 45.38 and 453.82nM NP and 3.73 372.62nM DES increas the estradiol-$17{\beta}$ (E2)/testosterone (T) ratio. In fully vitellogenic oocytes, 0.45, 45.38 and 453.82nM NP and 3.73nM DES increased E2/T. In the GVBD assay, 0.45 and 4.54nM NP and 0.037, 3.73 and 37.26nM DES inhibited GVBD. These results suggest that NP and DES have estrogen-agonistic effects in oocyte maturation in T. obscurus. In addition, NP and DES have different sensitivity according to the oocyte developmental stage, and the estrogenagonistic effects of DES were greater than were those of NP.
Titanium nitride films were deposited on the (100) oriented-p-type silicon substrates of RF plasma enhanced chemical vapor depositiom\n using a gaseous mixutre of TiCl$_{4}$, N$_{2}$, H$_{2}$ and Ar. The chemincal composition, structure and the rsistivituy of the films were investigated with the deposition variables such as the flow rate ratio of N$_{2}$/TiCl$_{4}$, the deposition temperature and the RF power. The deposition rate increases with increasing the flow rate ratio of N$_{2}$TiCl$_{4}$ and RF power, while the rate decreases with increasing the deposition temperature. As the flow rate ratio of N$_{2}$/TiCl$_{4}$ and depostion temperature increases within proper RF pwoer, the Cl concentartion in the films decreases and the stoichiometry and crystallingiy are improved, so decreases the resistivity of the films. The films depostied under the condition of the N$_{2}$/TiCl$_{4}$ ratio of 30, the RF power of 50W and the depostion temperature of 62$0^{\circ}C$ had the Cl content of 1.5at% and the resistivity of 56㏁cm. Also, the bottom coverage of the films was above 60% on the step with the width and depth of 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$\times$0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of low-dose intravenous N-acetylcysteine on the prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) in patients undergoing computed tomography (CT). Methods: All patients presenting to our emergency department and undergoing CT with intravenous contrast media between August 2014 and April 2016 were retrospectively enrolled. We included hospitalized patients with renal dysfunction [estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) between 30 and $89mL/min/1.73m^2$]. A 600-mg injection of N-acetylcysteine was given to patients once before and once immediately after CT, depending on the preference of physician. The primary outcome was CIN defined as an increase in creatinine level of ${\geq}25%$ or ${\geq}0.5mg/dL$ from the baseline within 48 to 72 hours after CT. A trained person blindly reviewed all medical records. Results: Of the 1903 admitted patients, CIN occurred in 9.8% of patients who received 1200 mg intravenous N-acetylcysteine (24/244) and 6.8% of patients who did not (113/1659, p=0.090). In a multivariable regression analysis, N-acetylcystine was not relevant to the prevention of CIN (odds ratio=1.42 [95% CI, 0.90-2.26]). Even in the stratified analysis using the propensity score matching, N-acetylcysteine was irrelevant (GFR 30-59: odds ratio=1.06 [95% CI, 0.43-2.60]; GFR 60-89: odds ratio=1.76 [95% CI, 0.75-4.14]). After adjustment, crystalloids were significantly associated with the reduction in CIN compared with dextrose water (odds ratio=0.60 [95% CI, 0.37-0.97]). Conclusion: No effect was found when low-dose intravenous N-acetylcysteine was used to prevent CIN. However, there seems to be an association between crystalloids and reduction in CIN.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the nitrification characteristics of biological aerated filter (BAF) packed with ceramic media, especially focusing on nitrite build-up during nitrification. When increasing the nitrogen load above $1.63kgNH_4{^+}-N/m^3{\cdot}d$, ammonium removal efficiency decreased to less than 60% and the nitrite ratio ($NO_2{^-}-N/NO_x-N$) of higher than 75% was achieved due to the inhibitory free ammonia (FA, $NH_3-N$) concentration and oxygen limitation. FA inhibition, however, is not recommended strategy to promote nitrite build-up since FA concentration in the reactor is coupled with decreased ammonium removal efficiency. Nitrite ratio in the effluent was also affected by aeration rate and influent ammonium concentration. Ammonium oxidation was enhanced at a higher aeration rate regardless of influent ammonium concentration but, the nitrite ratio was dependent on both aeration rate and influent ammonium concentration. While a higher nitrite ratio was obtained when BAFs were fed with $50mgNH_4{^+}-N/L$ of influent, the nitrite ratio significantly decreased for a greater influent concentration of $200-300mgNH_4{^+}-N/L$. Taken together, aeration rate, influent ammonium concentration and FA concentrations kept in the BAF were found to be critical variables for nitrite accumulation in the BAF system.

The Poisson ratio reduction of symmetric hygrothermal aged $[{\theta}_m/90_n]_s$ composite laminates containing a transverse cracking in mid-layer is predicted by using a modified shear-lag model. Good agreement is obtained by comparing the prediction models and experimental data published by Joffe et al. (2001). The material properties of the composite are affected by the variation of temperature and transient moisture concentration distribution in desorption case, and are based on a micro-mechanical model of laminates. The transient and non-uniform moisture concentration distribution give rise to the transient Poisson ratio reduction. The obtained results represent well the dependence of the Poisson ratio degradation on the cracks density, fibre orientation angle of the outer layers and transient environmental conditions. Through the presented study, we hope to contribute to the understanding of the hygrothermal behaviour of cracked composite laminate.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of nutritional levels on the growth and pork quality of Korean native black pigs (54 pigs from 35-75kg). Three nutritional levels (high, medium and low in ME and lysine) were tested. As nutritional levels increased, the average daily gain improved, and the days to market weight were reduced. There were no significant differences in dressing percentage, backfat thickness, loin eye area and % lean among the dietary treatments. However, barrows showed thicker (p<0.05) for backfat than gilt. The analysis of Korean native black pig carcass traits indicated that the fatty acid composition of loin-eye muscle, intra-muscular fat content, sarcomere length, and muscle ratio between red- and white-muscles did not show any statistically significant variation. However, regarding intra-muscular fat, H carcasses (high energy diet) contained higher levels of saturated fatty acids with lower levels of unsaturated fatty acids compared to the carcasses from the other two energy groups (M and L). In addition, the levels of n-3 tended to be lower as the energy/lysine level in the diet increased, while the ratio of n-6/n-3 tended to decrease as the energy/lysine level increased, even though the differences were not statistically significant. Even with no statistically significant differences, it was interesting to observe that the sarcomere length tended to increase as the energy level of the diet increased, and with muscle ratio analysis, the red muscle ratio from the L-group, and the white muscle ratio from the M-group were higher than the other energy groups.
New photovoltaic donor materials, 4,4'-(2,2'-bithiazole-5,5'-diyl)bis(N,N-diphenylbenzenamine) (BDT) and 4-(2,2'-bithiazol-5-yl)-N,N-diphenylbenzenamine (BT), were synthesized. A solution processable triphenylamine-containing bithiazole (BDT and BT) was blended with a [6,6]-phenyl $C_{61}$ butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) acceptor to study the performance of small-molecule-based bulk heterojunction (BHJ) photovoltaic devices. Optimum device performance was achieved after annealing, for device with a BDT/PCBM ratio of 1:4. The open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, and power conversion efficiency of the device with the aforementioned BDT/PCBM ratio were 0.51 V, 4.10 $mA\;cm^{-2}$, and 0.68%, respectively, under simulated AM 1.5 solar irradiation (100 $mW\;cm^{-2}$).

In this study, extraction of uranium(VI) from an aqueous nitric acid solution was investigated using tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) as an extractant in an ionic liquid, 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([Cnmim][Tf2N]). The distribution ratio of U(VI) in 1.1 M TBP/[Cnmim][Tf2N] was significantly high when the concentration of nitric acid was low. The value of the distribution ratio decreased as the concentration of the nitric acid increased at lower acidities, and then increased with a nitric acid concentration of up to 8 M. This can be attributed to the different extraction mechanisms of U(VI) based on nitric acid concentrations. Thus, a cation exchange at low acidity levels and an ion-pair extraction at high acidity levels were suggested as the extraction mechanism of U(VI) in the TBP/[Cnmim][Tf2N] system.

When broiler litter was composted under the control of peak temperature of piles(uncontrolled, controled below $70^{\circ}C$ and below $60^{\circ}C$), changes of physical and chemical parameters were determined throughout the processing period. Broiler litter was composted in each of three $1.0{\times}1.0{\times}1.2m$ dimensional facilities for 8 weeks. After 5 to 6 weeks of composting, broiler litter was converted into the final compost with no ammonia odour, rice hull size of particle, and faint brown color. Central temperature of piles reached to the peak(about $69{\sim}70^{\circ}C$) within 3 to 4 days after composting and gradually decreased thereafter. The final product contained 26.5% of moisture, 9.0~9.1 of pH, and 14.0~14.3 of C/N ratio. The increase of C/N ratio with processing resulted from the considerable loss of N. The total wet weight of the final composts was an average of 38.3% of the initial weight, the dry weight of those 64.1%, and the organic matter weight of those 34.8%. Treatments of central temperature of composts did not affect changes of moisture, pH, C/N ratio, total wet weight, total dry weight, and total organic matter weight. In general, composted broiler litter was converted into the final product with little change in physical and chemical parameters after 5 to 6 weeks of processing. Nitrogen losses during the composting should be prevented for the improvement of the composting efficiency of broiler litter.
