영상의 해상도와 HMD의 휘도가 가상현실 시청 경험에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Image Resolution and HMD Luminance on Virtual Reality Viewing Experience)

  • 본 연구는 영상의 해상도와 디바이스의 휘도가 다르게 제시된 가상현실 영상 시청 시, 인지된 특성, 프레즌스 그리고 피로도에 미치는 효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 실험은 혼합 설계로 구성되었으며, 해상도는 HD, 2K, 4K의 3가지, 휘도는 20, 60, 100의 3가지로 분류하였다. 모든 실험 참여자들은 2분 분량의 영상 3편, 총 6분의 영상을 시청하였으며, 각각의 영상 시청 후 설문에 응답하였다. 해상도와 휘도 사이의 상호작용 효과를 보고자 하였으나, 해상도와 휘도 간의 상호작용은 보이지 않았다. 해상도와 휘도의 주효과를 분석한 결과, 깊이지각감의 휘도, 시관관여의 해상도 그리고 조절피로의 해상도에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였고, 해상도와 휘도가 높을수록 인지기능, 프레즌스 그리고 피로도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.

LCD Backlight용 외부전극 형광램프의 발광특성 (Luminescent Characteristics of External Electrode Fluorescent Lamp(EEFL) for LCD Backlight Applications)

  • LCD backlight용 형광램프(fluorescent lamp, FL)의 전극구조에 따른 발광특성을 평가하였다. 동일한 조건에서 제작된 cold cathode fluorescent lamp(CCFL) 및 EEFL에 대하여 인가전압과 EEFL의 전극 폭에 따른 휘도와 발광효율을 측정, 평가하였다. 12 V에서 측정된 CCFL의 휘도와 발광효율은 각각 27600 cd/㎡ 및 35.3 lm/w를 나타내었다 EEFL의 휘도는 전극면적을 증가시킬수록 증가되었고, 발광효율은 전극 면적이 증가되면서 증가되었다가 전극 폭 20 mm에서 최대값을 나타낸 다음 다시 감소하였다. 20 mm의 전극 폭을 갖는 EEFL에 대하여 12 V와 14 V에서 측정된 휘도와 발광효율은 각각 21600 cd/㎡, 26500 cd/㎡ 및 35.6 lm/w, 34.8 lm/w였다.

ITO 기판의 Aquaregia 처리에 의한 녹색발광 OLED의 효율 향상 연구 (Efficiency Improvement of Green Emitting OLED by Aquaregia Treatment of ITO Substrate)

  • ITO is widely used as an anode material in OLED, because of its good transparency, low electrical resistivity, high work function, and efficient hole injection properties. The interface between the electrode and the organic layer in the OLED effects the charge injection process and may influence the electrical and the luminance properties. Surface treatment of ITO, such as an Aquaregia treatment has been shown to enhance the efficiency, and luminance characteristics of the OLED. In this study, we investigated the effect of Aquaregia treatment. The fundamental structures of the OLED were ITO/NPB/$Alq_3$/LiF/Al. The current density-voltage-luminance, efficiency, and lifetime characteristics were measured with untreated and Aquaregia-treated ITO substrates. The Aquaregia treatment was found to enhance the performance of OLED. For the Aquaregia treated device, the maximum luminance and efficiency were increased by about 2 times compared to the untreated device. The mechanism of the Aquaregia treatment is discussed based on AFM analyses.

  • Recently, rapid development of technique and change of lifestyle during nighttime has activated the urban outdoor lighting and renovated consideration of nightscape. As the interest of nightscape increases more widely, outdoor lighting has been installed more and more in the cities. Nightscape comes in diverse forms. So, there is no absolute standard for outdoor lighting. But only bright outdoor lighting is not necessarily a good nightscape. Installation lighting without master plan or excessive outdoor lighting may cause a inharmony. This study aims to analyze the luminous characteristics of facade in shopping complexes. For the purpose, four large-scale shopping complexes located in Dongdaemun area were selected. Building facade composition, outdoor lighting composition, and lighting equipment of each shopping complexes are surveyed, and luminance of building facade were measured with Prometric 1400. The result of the study are as follows; (1) Horizontally large-scale shopping complexes emphasize the building entrance and shape of the building at night by outdoor lighting. (2) Non cut-off luminaries installed in building entrance and shop front caused the potential of light pollution.

  • 유기 EL소자는 제작이 쉽고 휘도가 높아 CRT와 LED 대신 평판 디스플레이 패널의 광원으로써 많이 연구되어 지고 있으며, OLED 소자중 청색 OLED는 풀컬러 적용 어플리케이션에 적용할 수 있기 때문에 이에 대한 연구가 이루어 지고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 발광 소재로 PBD, Alq3를 사용하여 유기 EL 디바이스의 전기 발광 특성을 측정하였으며, 전류와 휘도는 전압과의 관계에서 알 수 있었고 휘도와 전류의 관계를 제시하였다.

The effect of the cell size on the discharge characteristics of a plasma display panel

  • In this study, plasma display panels with three different cell volumes were prepared by changing the spaces between the vertical barrier ribs into two and three times the reference structure. The discharge gap and area of the segmented ITO electrode were the same for the three cases, and Ne.20%Xe gas was used. The luminance and luminance efficiency were measured using applied voltage variations. The time evolution and intensity distribution of the infrared, which are related to the vacuum ultraviolet, were observed via intensified, charged, coupled device, and the visible-light intensity profiles were observed using PR-900 to analyze the discharge phenomena in the discharge cell.

Dual-Slope Ramp Reset Waveform to Improve Dark Room Contrast Ratio in AC PDPs

  • A new dual-slope ramp (DSR) reset waveform is proposed to improve the dark room contrast ratio in AC-PDPs. The proposed reset waveform has two different voltage slopes during a ramp-up period. The first voltage slope is lower than the conventional ramp voltage slope, causing a reduction in the background luminance, whereas the second voltage slope is higher than the conventional ramp voltage slope, causing an increase in the background luminance. Thus, a bias voltage is also applied during the second voltage-slope period to adjust the background luminance and address discharge characteristics. As a result, the proposed dual-slope reset waveform can lower the background luminance, thereby improving the high dark room contrast ratio of an AC-PDP without reducing the address voltage margin

교류 음 전압에 따른 형광 OLED의 전계 발광 특성 (Electroluminescent Characteristics of Fluorescent OLED with Alternating Current Negative Voltage)

  • To study the characteristics of AC driven OLED, we fabricated the fluorescent OLEDs and analyzed the electroluminescence characteristics of OLEDs with AC negative voltage. The luminance and the current density of the OLED decreased, and the number and size of the dark spots increased in proportion to the duration time and level of the applied AC negative voltage. The current efficiency of the OLED was improved when high AC negative voltage was applied within a short time. When the AC negative voltage of 10 V was applied for 1 minute, the efficiency was improved by 12.4%. Also, the degradation of luminance and current efficiency due to the duration of light emission was improved in the case of OLED applied for 1 minute with 10 V AC negative voltage. These are expected as a result of the improvement of the leakage current characteristics by eliminating the short-circuit region formed by the defect of the OLED at the AC negative high voltage. As a result, the continuous application of AC negative voltage reduced the luminance and the current density of OLED, but the temporary application of AC negative voltage with the proper time and voltage could improve the efficiency and lifetime of OLED.

유기발광소자 특성에 미치는 PTFE 버퍼층의 영향 (Effect on the Characteristics of Organic Light-Emitting Devices due to the PTFE buffer layer)

  • We have studied the characteristics of organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) with the PTFE buffer layer. The OLEDs have been based on the molecular compounds, N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis (3-methylphenyl)-1, 1'- biphenyl-4, 4'-diamine (TPD) as a hole transport, tris(8-hydroxyquinolinoline) aluminum (III) ($Alq_3$) as an electron transport and the Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as a buffer layer. The devices of structure were fabricated ITO/PTFE/TPD(40nm)/$Alq_3$(60nm)/Al( 150nm) to see the effects of the PTFE buffer layer in organic EL devices. The thickness of the PTFE layer varied from 0.5 to 10[nm]. We were measured Current-Voltage-Luminance Characteristics and Luminance efficiency due to the variation of PTFE thickness. the PTFE layer was reported that helped to enhance the hole tunneling injection and effectively impede induim diffusion from the ITO electrode. We have obtained an improvement of luminance efficiency when the PTFE thickness is 0.5[nm] is used. The improvement of efficiency of is expected due to a function of hole-blocking of PTFE in OLEDs.

  • Currently an office in information society is advanced to a digitalized VDT office. The VDT office has a natural luminous system prioritizing visual perception and so importance of lighting design by artificial lighting is emphasized in the VDT office. The purpose of the study is to analyze Illumination and Luminance for lighting design by the standard of ergonomics in the VDT office. The study analyzed Illumination and Luminance in the main control room of an nuclear power plant needing a design of ergonomics ACR(Advanced Control Room) type Ling Ao phase II NPP MCR in Guangdong, China. The study examined the relativity of ACR characteristics to its operator's duties and set up an outline of lighting design, the standard of ergonomics and input data for the analysis. Thus, the study examined appropriateness with the standard of ergonomics setting up the analyzed Illumination and Luminance and drew a conclusion.
