A Study on Lucifer-Type Encryption Algorithm (Lucifer 형태의 암호화 알고리듬에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents Lucifer-type encryption algorythms with variable length of block size of 32, 64, and 256 bits by varying the key byte access schedule and the unfolded convolution register of Lucifer. The intersymbol dpendence and exhaustive cryptanalysis of the algorithms are examined and compared. We also present the methods which improve the intersymbol dependence such as moving the location of key interruption and autoclave selection of S-box.

Distribution and Abundance of Planktonic Shrimps in the Southern Sea of Korea during 1987-1991

  • Distribution and abundance of planktonic shrimps were studied in the southern sea of Korea from 1987 to 1991. Nine species of five genera belonging to three families were identified. Of these, Leptochela sydniensis and Lucifer intermedius were predominant species and Lucifer penicilifer and Lucifer typus were common species. Remaining five species, Acetes chinensis, Leptochela gracilis, Lucifer chacei, Process wheeleri and Sergestes similis occurred sporadically and rarely. The distribution pattern of planktonic shrimps varied with species and sampling periods. L. intermedius occurred abundantly along inshore waters. L. penicilifer and L. typus appeared in both inshore and offshore waters, but more abundantly in offshore waters under influence of the Tsushima Current. In conclusion, the distribution patterns of planktonic shrimps may be related with hydrographic characteristics and seasonality in the southern sea of Korea.

Effects of Setaria italica on Gap Junction-Mediated Intercellular Communication for the Development of Cancer Chemopreventive Agents

  • Inhibition of gap junction-mediated intercellular communication (GJIC) has been considered as an important factor in the tumor promotion phase of carcinogenesis. Recovery effects of natural products on gap junctional intercellular communication are measured by scrape-loading and dye transfer method using Lucifer yellow after administration of phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA) on WBF344 cells. Among tested natural products, the hexane fraction and subfractions (F-01 and F-04) of Setaria italica were relatively effective for recovery of GJIC. The hexane fraction of Setaria italica $(EC_{25},\;12.14\;{\mu}g/ml)$ and subfractions $(F-01:EC_{50},\;10.74\;{\mu}g/ml;EC_{25},\;1.58\;{\mu}g/ml,\;F-04:EC_{50},\;11.03\;{\mu}g/ml;\;EC_{25},\;3.12\;{\mu}g/ml)$ revealed dose-dependent recovery effects on GJIC. Our data show GJIC activity measurement by Lucifer yellow spread on cells can be an effective tool for the screening of natural products with possible cancer chemopreventive effects.

Fishing investigation of vertical bottom longline fisheries in sea mount of central northern Pacific (북태평양 중부 해산어장에 있어서 저층 선주낙의 어획실태)

  • This study was conducted to survey the catches of vertical bottom longline fisheries in the sea mount of central northern Pacific($30^{\circ}-42^{\circ}N$, $170^{\circ}-175^{\circ}E$), during the period of July 1 to August 25,2004 by commercial fishing vessel. The number of 57 test fishing was carried out in the central northern Pacific during 43 days and the total catches were 21,092.4kg as 19 fish species, CPUE/day and catches/day were 185 baskets and 490.5kg, respectively. Main fish species caught from the experimental fishing were Squalus mitsukurii (66.3%), Coelorhyrchus asperocephaius (11.7%) and Helicolenus avius (9.8%) and, average inside diameter for fish mouth was 4.0cm over. Catch ratio according to each fishing ground was the order of F, D, J, B and C. Catch ratio fur water depth was the order of 450-500m, 350-400m, 300-350m, 400-450m, 1000-1100m and 500-550m and, main species by water depth was Squalus mitsukurii for 300-400m, Etmopterus lucifer for 300-550m, Coelorhyrchus asperocephaius far 1,000m over. Catch ratio according to the kind of hooks was higher at the hook no.6 for Squalus mitsukurii and no. 5 for Etmopterus lucifer and, catch ratio by baits was higher at squid for Squalus mitsukurii, saury and eel for Helicolemus avius and saury for Etmopterus lucifer. Accordingly, it is thought that the extension of fishing hours is needed with the reduction of damage and loss for fishing gears during fishing operation.

  • A realization of a conventional cryptosystem for personal computers using the DSP56001 digital signal processing chip is presented. An improved Lucifer-type algorithm is employed to encrypt, and executed in the DSP56001. The Diffie-Hellman method is employed to generate and distribute the key. The implemented hoard can be plugged in the I/O port of personal computers.

  • This paper presents the hardware development of a secure modem system for personal computers. This system consists of a data encryption system and an existing modem. The algorithm of LUCIFER-type with block size of 64-bit is used for data encryption and Diffie-Hellman method is also employed for generation of the encryption key. We implement the system in hardware using the DSP56001.

  • Gap junction channels were reconstituted into unilamellar liposomes using immunoaffinity purified connexin 32 gap junction protein from rat liver. Vesicles containing open channels and close channels were separated by means of iso-osmolar sucros density gradient sedimentation. The open channels formed in lipid vesicles were permeable to a fluorescent dye molecule, lucifer yellow of which the hydrodynamic size is similar to pore size of gap junctions in vivo. (omitted)

  • Incilaria fruhstorferi daiseninana의 뇌는 쌍을 이루고 있는 뇌(cerebral), 측(pleural), 노(parietal), 족(pedal)신경절과 단일 복부(abdominal)신경절로 구성되어 있으며, 이들은 융합된 신경고리를 이루고 있었다. 복부신경절로부터 나오는 내장신경은 생식, 장, 심장, 신장신경등으로 분지되어 이들 각 기관에 신경을 공급하고 있었다. 다음 3가지 방법, 즉, 내장신경을 Ni$^2$+로 역방향으로 충진하여 세포체를 염색하는 방법, 형광화합물 Lucifer yellow를 세포내로 주입하는 방법, 세포내활동전위와 내장신경의 세포외 활동전위를 동시에 측정하는 방법으로 적어도 12가지의 동정된 뉴우런이 내장신경과 관련되고 있음을 알았다. 알아낸 각 세포의 전기생리학적인 특성을 검지하고, 이것과 각 세포의 돌기 분지상태와의 관련 및 일부 세포간의 상호관계를 검사하였다. 이들중 8가지 세포가 내장신경에 축색돌기를 내보내는 효과신경세포라는 증거를 얻었다.
