  • To evaluate the fertilizing capacity of domestic animal spermatozoa by hamster test, semen were collected from 15 boars(Duroc, Landrace, and Yorkshire) and 2 mixed dogs which had been proved to be fertile in the past then, the semen were preserved in BWW medium at $4^{\circ}C$ or $18^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and coincubated with zona-free hamster ova for 5 hours. The ova were stained by lacmoid and examined under phase contrast microscope to investigate the rates of sperm binding to the ova, penetration and formation of a male pronucleus, and the numbers of both bound and penetrated sperm per ovum. Both the semen preserved at $18^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and that treated by swim up procedure showed considerably higher rates of sperm binding and penetration as well as higher number of penetrated sperm than that preserved at $4^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours, respectively(p<0.01). Motility of boar sperm at insemination was from 40 to 90% and no difference in hamster test was obtained according to different degree of sperm motility. Abnormality in morphology of boar sperm at insemination was from 6 to 45% and no difference in hamster test was obtained according to different degree of sperm abnormality. The sperm concentrations of $7{\times}10^7$ and $7{\times}10^6$ showed considerably higher rates of sperm binding and penetration as well as higher number of bound sperm than that of $7{\times}10^4$ (p<0.01) along with the same higher results than that of $7{\times}10^5$(0<0.05), respectively. Boar sperm showed considerably higher rates of sperm binding and penetration as well as higher numbers of both bound and penetrated sperm than dog sperm, when both semen were treated by BWW+heparin medium and swim up procedure, respectively. These results indicated that fertile boar sperm showed considerably lower rates in the results of hamster test, when preserved at $4^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and in lower concentration of sperm than when preserved at $18^{\circ}C$ for about 20 hours and in higher concentration of sperm, respectively, and at the same time considerably higher results than fertile dog sperm, consequently to prove that hamster test would be of great value in assaying the fertilizing capacity of boar sperm.

  • Adherence of Candida albicans(C. albicans) to the surface of a denture is believed to be an initial and essential step in the formation of denture-induced stematitis. Previous studies have provided enormous infomation on the relationship between composition of palatine gland/parotid saliva and upper denture stomatitis. Relatively little information is available on the correlation between lower denture stomatitis and sublingual-submandibular ( SLSM ) saliva. The plaque samples were collected from the two sites($100mm^2$) on the inner surface of lower partial denture corresponding to the stematitis and healthy region of the lower partial dentures of 12 denture stomatitis patients and 6 nor-mal persons who wore lower partial dentures. The samples were plated to isolate C. albicans on a selective Saboraud's dextrose agar plate and the isolates were identified by germ tube test and gram staining. The subjects were divided into group I (stomatitis with C. albican), group II (lesion without C. albicans), group III (no lesion but C. albicans), and group IV (normal and healthy denture wearer). Individual SLSM saliva($20{\mu}g$ of protein) was analyzed by SDS-PAGE (SDS -poly-acrylamide gel electrophoresis) with Coomassie brilliant blue and PAS(Periodic Acid Schinff) stain-ing. The salivary proteins separated in the polyacryamide gels were subjected to immunoblot anaysis using anti-lactoferrin, anti-sIgA, and anti-secretory component of sIgA. In this study using custom made acrylic denture resin beads(5mm in diameter) coated with stimulated individual SLSM saliva, the binding ability of individual C. albicans strains to the beads was observed. Levels of C, albicans adhered to the acrylic resin beads were determined by measuring the optical density of the bound C. albicans to the beads at 580nm. The results showed that a higher number of C. albicans was observed in the lesion site than healthy site. The saliva of group I contained more high molecular weight glycoprotein(mucin, MGI) as compared to group II, III and IV. And lactoferrin and sIgA affected to the binding ability of C. albicans to acylic resin beads. Binding ability of individual C. albicans to the acrylic resin coated with respective individual saliva was found to be greater in group I than the other 3 groups. And when bound cells of C. albicans isolated from individual subject #2 to the saliva coated beads were used binding ability of subject #2 saliva coated beads was founed to be greater than the other sutjects. These results suggested that denture induced stomatitis is related to individual patient's salivary protein composition, especially MG-1. Future studies will be directed toward saliva exam-ination of patients who have general disease and analysis of pellicles formed on prosthesis with respect to oral disease.

랜덤 순열의 직렬 합성과 병렬 합성 사이의 트래이드오프에 관한 연구 (On the Trade-off Between Composition and XOR of Random Permutations)

  • 직렬 합성(composition)과 병렬 합성(XOR)은 암호 스킴의 안전성을 높이기 위해 널리 사용되고 있는 방법이다. 랜덤 순열을 직렬 합성하는 회수가 많아질수록 보다 안전한 랜덤 순열이 되고, 병렬 합성하는 회수가 많아질수록 보다 안전한 랜덤 함수가 된다. 이 두가지 방법을 결합해서, 본고는 다음과 같은 일반화된 형태의 랜덤 함수를 정의한다. $SUM^s - CMP^c = ({\pi}_{sc} ... {\pi}_{(s-1)c+1}){\oplus}...{\oplus}({\pi}_c...{\pi}_1)$. 여기서, ${\pi}_1...{\pi}_{sc}$는 랜덤 순열이다. 랜덤 순열의 총 개수가 고정되어 있을 때, 직렬 합성과 병렬 합성을 각각 얼마만큼 하느냐에 따라 위 함수의 안전성은 달라질 것이다. 임의의 두 암호 스킴의 안전성을 엄밀히 비교하기 위해서는 각각의 정확한 안전성 값을 대상으로 해야 한다. 그러나, 일반적으로 정확한 값이 알려진 경우는 거의 없다. 특히, 매개변수(위 함수의 경우, s, c)의 값이 작을 경우는 밀계(tight bound)가 알려져 있는 경우가 종종 있으나, 일반적인 매개변수에 대해서는 정확한 값이나 밀계가 알려진 경우가 거의 없다. 그래서, 실제 상황에서는 두 암호 스킴의 안전성 비교는, 각각의 불안전성(insecurity)의 상계(upper bound)를 비교함으로써 이루어진다. 안전성을 중요시하는 상황에서는 더 낮은 상계를 갖는 암호 스킴을 선호하게 된다. $SUM^s - CMP^c$의 불안전성은 기존의 여러 결과들을 조합해서 계산할 수 있다. 따라서, 특정$(s_1,c_1),(s_2.c_2)$에 대한 두 함수의 안전성은 각각의 불안전성의 상계값을 계산함으로써 비교될 수 있다. 본고는 일반적인 (s, c)에 대한 $SUM^s - CMP^c$의 불안전성의 상계값의 변화를 알아보고자 한다. 그리고, 보다 낮은 상계값을 얻기 위한 직렬/병렬 합성의 최적의 개수가 무엇인지 조사한다.

서울주걱흡충의 재감염이 흰쥐 소장의 조직병리 및 미소융모막효소 활성도에 미치는 영향 (The effect of reinfection with Neodiplostomum seoulensis on the histopathology and activities of brush border membrane bound enzymes in the rat small intestine)

  • 서울주걱흡충(Neodiplostomum seoulensis)재감염시 숙주에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 충체 회수율 소장의 조직병리 및 미소응모막효소 활성도를 관찰하였다. 자연감염된 뱀에서 피낭유충을 얻어 500개씩 흰쥐에 감염시키고 20일 후에 프라지콴텔로 치료하였다. 치료후 3주째에 피낭유충 500개씩 경구투여하여 재감염 시킨다음 3일. 1주. 2주 후에 도살하여 일차감염군과 비교하였다. 충체회수율은 일차감염시 각각 32.8%. 59.2%, 41.5%에서 재감염시 25.9%, 35.7%. 7.6%로 감소되었는데 특히 2주후에 급격히 감소되었다. 십이지장의 조직병리 소견은 일차감염시 1주 후부 터 융모의 응합 단축등의 퇴행성 변화와. 선와의 증식. 기질층의 염증세포 침윤 등이 나타나 2주까지 지속되었으나 재감염시는 3일 후부터 병변이 나타나다가 1주째부터 회복되었다. 미소응모막효소 활성도 측정결과 십이지장에서 일차감염시 alkaline phosphatase와 자당분해효소의 활성도가 대조군의 절반수준으로 감소하였으나 재감염시에는 대조군 수준과 동일하거나 오히려 증가하였다. 이상의 결과로 이 흡충의 재감염시 충체의 배출이 빨라짐과 동시에 형태학적으로 회복이 빨리 이루어지며 기능적으로도 소장의 미소응모막효소 활성도의 회복이 빠르게 이루어짐을 알 수 있었다.

옻칠한지의 제조 및 특성 (The Characteristics of Hanji Prepared with Lacquer)

  • The raw oriental lacquer produced in China was used in this study. This lacquer was diluted with ethanol and terpene in different solvent ratios. The diluted lacquer in the solvents had two layers. The upper layer was solvent soluble and the lower contained precipitates. Hanji was treated with the solvent solubles and the mixture containing precipitates, and then properties of the Hanji were evaluated. The average weight, thickness, and density of Hanji treated with oriental lacquer tended to gradually be decreased as the lower concentration of lacquer was used and as the solvent soluble was treated. Tensile strength of the treated Hanji decreased when the diluted lacquer was used and Hanji treated with terpene dilution at the ratio of lacquer to solvent of 1:5 (v/v) showed higher tensile strength than ones treated with ethanol dilution. The folding endurance decreased as the less concentrated lacquer was used and the highest value was obtained when 1:40 (v/v) of lacquer to solvent ratio in both ethanol and terpene mixture. Absorption ratio was higher in the Hanji treated with ethanol mixture, treated with the lacquer in lower concentration, and treated with ethanol mixture. Hanji treated with ethanol dilution at 1:20 (v/v) and the lower ratio of lacquer to solvent showed a hydrophobic property. Amount of the bound dye materials tended to be decreasing as the concentration of lacquer became lower and it was higher in Hanji treated with ethanol mixture than with terpene mixture.

상수관로의 경제적 교체시기를 산정하기 위한 통계적 방법론 (A Statistical Methodology to Estimate the Economical Replacement Time of Water Pipes)

  • 본 논문에서는 상수관로의 파손자료를 이용하여 관로의 위험률을 산정하기 위해 사용되는 비례위험모형의 관로의 순차적 파손시간 예측정확도를 분석하고 이를 이용하여 관로의 경제적 교체 시간구간을 산정할 수 있는 방법론을 제시하였다. 비례위험모형에 기초한 생존함수를 이용하여 연구대상 관로들의 순차적 파손시간을 예측하고 이들을 기록된 파손시간과의 차이를 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 비례위험모형의 파손시간 예측 오차를 최소화하는 생존확률은 0.70인 것으로 결정되었으며, 세 번째 파손으로부터 일곱 번째 파손에 대한 모형만이 관로의 파손시간을 예측하는데 적합한 것으로 분석되었다. 생존확률 0.70과 순차적 파손사건에 대한 생존함수의 하한 및 상한을 이용하여 예제로 사용된 관로에 대해 예측된 파손시간의 95% 신뢰구간의 하한 및 상한을 추정하였다. 예측된 파손시간의 95% 신뢰 구간의 하한과 상한을 이용하여 관로 파손 경향모형인 General Pipe Break Prediction Models(GPBM)을 구축하고 이들을 관로의 한계파괴율과 결합하여 시간에 대한 해를 구하므로써 경제적 교체 시간구간을 산정하였다.

  • 소프트웨어 개발에 있어서 소프트웨어를 시장에 출시하는 계획을 수립하는 것은 소프트웨어를 이루고 있는 기능들을 구현하는 데 제약이 되는 조건들(기술, 자원, 위험, 예산 등)을 만족하면서 계획된 출시기간에 이들 기능들을 할당하는 일이다. 이와 같이 소프트웨어 출시를 계획하는 것은 소프트웨어 제품라인에 대해서 고려할 때 더욱 복잡해진다. 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어 제품라인에 있어서 소프트웨어 출시 계획을 수립하기 위한 문제를 우선순위 제약하의 다수 0-1 배낭문제로 수리 모형화하고, 이를 풀기 위한 최적해법이 개발된다. 최적해법은 동적 계획법이 주가 되고, 문제의 크기를 줄이기 위하여 휴리스틱과 축소방법이 이용된다.

불활성 가스하 열건조에 따른 금속시험편의 수소잔류물 거동 분석 (Variation of Hydrogen Residue on Metallic Samples by Thermal Soaking in an Inert Gas Environment)

  • Hydrogen penetration into a metal leads to damages and mechanical degradations and its content measurement is of importance. For a precise measurement, a sample preparation procedure must be optimized through a series of studies on sample washing and drying. In this study, two-step washing with organic solvents and thermal soaking in inert gas were tried with a rod-shaped, API X65 steel sample. The samples were machined from a steel plate and then washed in acetone and etyl-alcohol for 5 minute each and dried with compressed air. After then, the samples were thermally soaked in a home-made nitrogen gas chamber during 10 minute at different heat gun temperatures from 100 to $400^{\circ}C$ and corresponding temperature range in the soaking chamber was from 77 to $266^{\circ}C$ according to the temperature calibration. Hydrogen residue in the samples was measured with a hot extraction system after each soaking step; hydrogen residue of $0.70{\pm}0.12$ wppm after the thermal soaking at $77^{\circ}C$ decayed with increase of the soaking temperature. By adopting the heat transfer model, decay behavior of the hydrogen residue was fitted into an exponential decay function of the soaking temperature. Saturated value or lower bound of the hydrogen residue was 0.36 wppm and chamber temperature required to lower the hydrogen residue about 95% of the lower bound was $360^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, a thermal desorption spectroscopy was done for the fully soaked samples at $360^{\circ}C$. Weak hydrogen peak was observed for whole temperature range and it means that hydrogen-related contaminants of the sample surface are steadily removed by heating. In addition, a broad peak found around $400^{\circ}C$ means that parts of the hydrogen residue are irreversibly trapped in the steel microstructure.

전립선암 선별을 위한 PSA 측정의 보험의학적 의미 (Review of measurement of prostate specific antigen: in the aspect of insurance medicine)

  • The measurement of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in screening for prostate cancer is recently performed as a routine check-up in clinical medicine and insurance medicine. Several factors may affect serum PSA levels. As prostate size increases with increasing age, the PSA concentration also rises. Increasing body mass index (BMI) is associated with a lower mean PSA concentration. Inhibitors of 5-alpha-reductase such as finasteride and dutasteride produce a 50 percent or greater decrease in serum PSA during the first three months of therapy, which persists as long as the drug is continued. Men who are regularly taking non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or acetaminophen have lower PSA levels. Emerging concepts regarding PSA testing that may help refine the interpretation of an elevated concentration include: PSA density, PSA velocity, and Free versus complexed or bound PSA. With many insurance companies, PSA level has become part of a standard battery of blood tests, along with HIV, cholesterol, liver enzymes, and other predictors of premature death. But, there is no clear proof of benefit, so we have to monitor the value of PSA test as a prostate cancer screening test in insurance medicine.

Crack behaviour of top layer in layered rocks

  • Open-mode cracks could be commonly observed in layered rocks. A concept model is firstly used to explore the mechanism of the vertical cracks (VCs) in the top layer. Then the crack behaviour of the two-layer model is simulated based on a cohesive zone model (CZM) for layer interfaces and a plastic-damage model for rocks. The model indicates that the tensile stress normal to the VCs changes to compression if the crack spacing to layer thickness ratio is lower than a threshold. The results indicate that there is a threshold for interfacial shear strength that controls the crack patterns of the layered system. If the shear strength is lower than the threshold, the top layer is meshed by the VCs and interfacial cracks (ICs). When the shear strength is higher than the threshold, the top layer is meshed by the VCs and parallel cracks (PCs). If the shear strength is comparative to the threshold, a combining pattern of VCs, PCs and ICs for the top layer can be formed. The evolutions of stress distribution in the crack-bound block indicate that the ICs and PCs can reduce the load transferred for the substrate layer, and thus leads to a crack saturation state.
