임베디드 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스에서의 저전력 특성의 설계지원 기법 (Techniques to Support Low-Power Characteristics in Embedded Software Development Process)

  • 모바일 통신, 센서 네트워크, 웨어러블 컴퓨터 등 IT 응용기술 분야의 급속한 발전으로 인하여 매우 다양한 영역에서 임베디드 소프트웨어의 요구가 증가하고 있다. 이러한 다양한 응용영역에서 저전력을 소모하는 임베디드 소프트웨어의 개발은 배터리를 이용한 전원공급 시스템으로 인하여 매우 중요하게 여겨지고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 임베디드 소프트웨어의 개발 과정에서 소모전력 특성을 고려하는 소프트웨어 개발 기법에 대하여 제안한다. 일반적으로 소프트웨어의 소모전력은 코드 기반 분석을 통해 절감할 수 있지만, 이 경우는 소프트웨어를 다시 개발할 수도 있는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 저전력 소모에 대한 요구사항을 기반으로 소프트웨어 개발 과정에서 소모전력을 감소시켜야 하는 방법이 필요하다. 제안하는 소모전력 절감을 위한 임베디드 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스는 다양한 응용분야에서 활용되는 모바일 시스템의 개발에 활용하여 소모전력 측면에서의 경쟁력있는 소프트웨어의 개발이 가능하게 할 것으로 판단된다.

Single-Phase Current Source Induction Heater with Improved Efficiency and Package Size

  • This paper presents a modified Current Source Parallel Resonant Push-pull Inverter (CSPRPI) for single phase induction heating applications. One of the most important problems associated with current source parallel resonant inverters is achieving ZVS in transient intervals. This paper shows that a CSPRPI with the integral cycle control method has dynamic ZVS. According to this method, it is the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuit that tracks the switching frequency. The advantages of this technique are a higher efficiency, a smaller package size and a low EMI in comparison with similar topologies. Additionally, the proposed modification results in a low THD of the ac-line current. It has been measured as less than %2. To show the validity of the proposed method, a laboratory prototype is implemented with an operating frequency of 80 kHz and an output power of 400 W. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed single phase induction heating system.

  • In this thesis, we present efficient techniques to reduce the switching activity in a CMOS combinational logic network based on local logic transforms. But this techniques is not appropriate in the view of testability because of deteriorating the random pattern testability of a circuit. This thesis proposes a circuit design method having two operation modes. For the sake of power dissipation(normal operation mode), a gate output switches as rarely as possible, implying highly skewed signal probabilities for 1 or 0. On the other hand, at test mode, signals have probabilities of being 1 or 0 approaching 0.5, so it is possible to exact both stuck-at faults on the wire. Therefore, the goals of synthesis for low power and random pattern testability are achieved. The hardware overhead sof proposed design method are only one primary input for mode selection and AND/OR gate for each redundant connection.

  • This paper presents fully integrated low power consumption limiting amplifier. The proposed limiting amplifier is employed folded cascode structure with source degeneration output stage. This proposed structure demands few transconductance than conventional structure. It can be dramatically decrease current consumption. The total power consumption is only $96.5\;{\mu}W$ under a 1.8 V supply voltage in 9.5 dB limited gain condition. It was designed in using $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

  • A technique for the seismic reliability evaluation of electric power transmission systems(EPTS) adapted to ground motion characteristics of Korea has been developed to evaluate reliability indices corresponding to the whole system and to each node within. A network model with nodes and links for EPTS has been established, and a seismic substation-fragility curve obtained from seismic fragilities of power system facilities has been derived. A point source model, the doubly truncated Gutenberg-Richter relationship, and earthquake intensity attenuation formula have been applied to simulate seismic events. Using Monte-Carlo simulation method, the seismic reliability of EPTS is evaluated and, it appeared that seismic effect on EPTS in low and moderate seismicity regions has to be considered.

  • Low power ZnO-Si gas sensor below 500 mW at operating temperature has been fabricated by using micromachining technique. I-V measurement shows the power consumption of 260 mW at $400^{\circ}C$ The sensitivity of the sensor was 45 percent at operating temperature of $350^{\circ}C$(230 mW) with 1,000 ppm CO gas atmosphere. The response and the recovery time found out to be 94 sec and 180 sec, respectively, when CO gas was used. In order to measure the exact temperature of the gas sensing layer, Pt/Cr bilayer-RTD was used in this experiment.

인력비행기 개발을 위한 설계 및 제작 고려 요소 (The Design and Construction Consideration for Developing the Human Powered Aircraft)

  • This paper surveys the historical perspective and design considerations for developing the human powered aircraft(HPA). Especially the weight and materials, aerodynamics, flight controls, and power trains are focused. The average power a human can produce and sustain is approximately 200${\sim}$250 W which is a critical design constraint of HPA. The survey shows that the empty weight of HPA was in the 30${\sim}$40 kg range(90${\sim}$110 kg include pilot). Thus, in order to design a successful HPA, the value of power to weight ratio should be 2.0 W/kg or above. The HPA design technique could be applied directly to the development of an unmanned high altitude airplanes used for atmospheric research, where light structures, low Reynolds number aerodynamics and high efficiency propeller design are required as well.

  • This paper describes a boost converter cascaded high frequency link direct do-ac converter suitable for fuel cell power sources. A new multi-loop control for a boost converter to reduce the low frequency input current harmonics drawn from fuel cell is proposed. A new PWM technique for the cycloconverter at the secondary to reject the low order harmonics in the output voltages is presented in detail.

  • The results of performance assessment analyses have shown that the long-lived radionuclides such as I-129 control the potential individual dose impact to the public. I-129 is difficult-to-measure(DTM) in low-level waste because it is non-gamma emitting radionuclides and exists at extremely low concentrations in radioactive waste generated by nuclear reactors. In this study, computer modeling technique to predict release rate of I-129 is developed to provide another tools far performance assessment of land disposal facilities and characteristics of radwaste. Model suggested in this study will give conservative values of I-129 release rate far determination of radwaste characteristics. More detailed approach is implemented to account for release conditions of fuel source-nuclides. 1-131 concentration measured from reactor coolant and released fraction from tramp fuel have dominant roles in calculating release rate of I-129 with fuel defect conditions.

Reactive Current Assignment and Control for DFIG Based Wind Turbines during Grid Voltage Sag and Swell Conditions

  • This paper proposes a reactive current assignment and control strategy for a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind-turbine generation system under generic grid voltage sag or swell conditions. The system's active and reactive power constrains during grid faults are investigated with both the grid- and rotor-side convertors (GSC and RSC) maximum ampere limits considered. To meet the latest grid codes, especially the low- and high-voltage ride-through (LVRT and HVRT) requirements, an adaptive reactive current control scheme is investigated. In addition, a torque-oscillation suppression technique is designed to reduce the mechanism stress on turbine systems caused by intensive voltage variations. Simulation and experiment studies demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme to enhance the fault ride-through (FRT) capability of DFIG-based wind turbines during violent changes in grid voltage.
