모바일 센서 네트워크를 위한 에너지 효율적이고 경제적인 소형 이동 로봇의 개발 (Energy-Effective Low-Cost Small Mobile Robot Implementation for Mobile Sensor Network)

  • In this paper, we describe an implementation of small mobile robot that can be used at research and application of mobile sensor networking. This robot that will constitute the sensor network, as a platform of multi-robot system for each to be used as sensor node, has to satisfy restrictions in many aspects in order to perform sensing, communication protocol, and application algorithms. First, the platform must be designed with a robust structure and low power consumption since its maintenance after deployment is difficult. Second, it must have flexibility and modularity to be used effectively in any structure so that it can be used in various applications. Third, it must support the technique of wireless network for ubiquitous computing environment. At last, to let many nodes be scattered, it must be cost-effective and small. Considering the above restrictions of the mobile platform for sensor network, we designed and implemented robots control the current of actuator by using additional circuit for power efficiency. And we chose MSP430 as MCU, CC2420 as RF transceiver, and etc, that have the strength in the aspect of power. For flexibility and modularity, the platform has expansion ports. The results of experiments are described to show that this robot can act as sensor node by RF communication process with Zigbee standard protocol, execute the navigation process with simple obstacle avoidance and the moving action with RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator), operate at low-power, and be made with approx. $100.

AoIP/UDP 기반 오디오 통신의 다중 채널 Low-Latency 구현 (Low-Latency Implementation of Multi-channel in AoIP/UDP-based Audio Communication)

  • 화재 재난방송 시스템에서는 아날로그, 디지털, 네트워크 디지털 전관 방송 시스템으로 나뉘며, 네트워크 디지털 전광 방송 시스템에서 중요한 사양은 낮은 대기 시간(Low-latency), 높은 샘플링 레이트, 다채널 입출력이다. 기존에 데이터링크 층의 MAC 주소 기반으로 구별하는 AoE(Audio over Ethernet) 방법을 널리 사용하고 있다. 그러나 이 방법은 복잡성과 비용이 증가하는 문제가 있다. 이에 본 제안은 AoIP(Audio over Internet Protocol)/UDP 방식으로 별도의 중복적인 네트워크가 필요 없이 IP(Internet Protocol) 주소로 손쉽게 구별하는 통신을 할 수 있어 네트워크를 자유롭게 사용 구성하고 복잡도를 낮추어 비용을 낮출 수 있도록 제안한다. AoIP/UDP 방식으로 구현 후 실험결과 2.66ms 대기 시간 성능으로 동등한 성능으로 비용의 개선함을 보였다.

Low energy ultrasonic single beacon localization for testing of scaled model vehicle

  • Tracking the location (position) of a surface or underwater marine vehicle is important as part of guidance and navigation. While the Global Positioning System (GPS) works well in an open sea environment but its use is limited whenever testing scaled-down models of such vehicles in the laboratory environment. This paper presents the design, development and implementation of a low energy ultrasonic augmented single beacon-based localization technique suitable for such requirements. The strategy consists of applying Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) to achieve location tracking from basic dynamic distance measurements of the moving model from a fixed beacon, while on-board motion sensor measures heading angle and velocity. Iterative application of the Extended Kalman Filter yields x and y co-ordinate positions of the moving model. Tests performed on a free-running ship model in a wave basin facility of dimension 30 m by 30 m by 3 m water depth validate the proposed model. The test results show quick convergence with an error of few centimeters in the estimated position of the ship model. The proposed technique has application in the real field scenario by replacing the ultrasonic sensor with industrial grade long range acoustic modem. As compared with the existing systems such as LBL, SBL, USBL and others localization techniques, the proposed technique can save deployment cost and also cut the cost on number of acoustic modems involved.

저가형 DSP를 사용하는 FMCW 레이더 신호처리부의 효율적 구현 방안 (Efficient Implementation of FMCW Radar Signal Processing Parts Using Low Cost DSP)

  • 차량용 능동안전 시스템은 전방충돌방지, 차선이탈 경보, 차선변경 지원 등이 있으며 소형차에 도입될 정도로 대중화되고 있다. 대표적인 능동안전 시스템인 FMCW 레이더는 가격 경쟁력과 성능개선을 위해 전방과 측면용 레이더의 통합과 위상배열이나 다중 안테나의 적용이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 차량용 FMCW레이더 시스템의 신호처리부를 저가의 DSP로 구현하기 위한 효율적인 방안들을 제안한다. PWM기반의 아날로그 변환, 계산량을 줄이는 근사화 기법, 효율적인 벡터연산 등을 제안하고 구현하였다. 구현된 신호처리 보드는 1.4ms의 펄스 반복간격에서 1024길이의 FFT 처리가 실시간 성능을 보였다. 실제 도로 실험에서 10Hz의 갱신율로 실시간 동작과 성능을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose a driving circuit that can be operated with a lower voltage than that of the conventional circuit without reducing the discharge voltage. the circuit proposed in this paper has a merit to improve the electrical characteristics because it can be composed of switching devices with low voltage. The operation and efficiency using real devices. The features of the circuit proposed in this paper are as follows; the power loss can be decreased by the use of low voltage, the cost if the driving circuit for PDP can be reduced by the use of switching devices operated with low voltage.

  • This report is the study for laser scanning. Scanning control of $CO_2$ laser, He-Ne laser, used for the treatment of body skin, has relatively low band about hundered Hz. It could be used as a substitiute for expensive galvanometer that is the established scan method, which operates the number of KHz movement by using step motor when it operates low speed. To increase the accuracy of step motor's the angle of rotation, We could materialize 100Hz low band by using open loop, closed loop method with microprocessor. This causes it to be stable even direction by attaching electric capacity sensor. Therefore, We could expect to reduce the cost by manufacturing low band scanner rather than costly feedback galvanometer.

GPU-Accelerated Single Image Depth Estimation with Color-Filtered Aperture

  • There are two major ways to implement depth estimation, multiple image depth estimation and single image depth estimation, respectively. The former has a high hardware cost because it uses multiple cameras but it has a simple software algorithm. Conversely, the latter has a low hardware cost but the software algorithm is complex. One of the recent trends in this field is to make a system compact, or even portable, and to simplify the optical elements to be attached to the conventional camera. In this paper, we present an implementation of depth estimation with a single image using a graphics processing unit (GPU) in a desktop PC, and achieve real-time application via our evolutional algorithm and parallel processing technique, employing a compute shader. The methods greatly accelerate the compute-intensive implementation of depth estimation with a single view image from 0.003 frames per second (fps) (implemented in MATLAB) to 53 fps, which is almost twice the real-time standard of 30 fps. In the previous literature, to the best of our knowledge, no paper discusses the optimization of depth estimation using a single image, and the frame rate of our final result is better than that of previous studies using multiple images, whose frame rate is about 20fps.

VLSI 구현을 위한 CAN 프로토콜 컨트롤러의 설계 및 검증 (Design and Verification of a CAN Protocol Controller for VLSI Implementation)

  • 본 논문에서는 VLSI구현을 위한 CAN 프로토콜 컨트롤러의 최적화된 구조를 제안하였으며, 제안된 구조를 이용하여 VLSI로 구현하였다. 또한 많은 시간이 소요되는 검증의 문제점을 보완하기 위하여 3단계 검증기법을 제안하였으며 이를 통하여 빠른 속도의 검증이 가능하게 되었다. 제안된 구조는 기존의 CAN 프로토콜 컨트롤러보다 적은 사이즈의 게이트 수를 갖고 있을 뿐만 아니라 호스트 프로세서와의 연결이 용이하게 구성되어 있기 때문에 비용 및 효율성에서 장점을 갖고 있고, 제안된 3단계 검증기법은 반복되는 검증의 수를 줄임으로써 최적화된 검증을 수행하도록 구성되어 있기 때문에 빠른 속도의 검증이 가능하다. 설계된 CAN 프로토콜 컨트롤러는 0.35마이크론 CMOS공정을 이용하여 제작되었다.

  • WAP을 이용하는 무선인터넷 서비스의 경우, WAP Gateway를 통하여 http 프로토콜과 연동하여 통신한다. 따라서 사용자들은 무선 인터넷 서비스 비용 증가와 함께 WAP Gateway에서 사용자의 정보를 감시할수 있기 때문에 내적 보안의 취약성이 대두되었다. 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위하여 플랫폼독립적이고, 비용감소, 좀더 강화된 보안성과 다운로드가능한 어플리케이션을 위하여 자바언어을 사용하여소켓통신을 이용하여 유.무선 메시징 시스템(WWMS)은 PC 클라이언트와 Moblie 클라이언트, Mobile 클라이언트와 Mobile 클라이언트, 각각에서 실시간으로 통신할 수있다. 본 논문에서는 J2ME를 이용한 멀티 플랫폼 유.무선 메시징 시스템을 설계하고 구현함으로써, 향후 다양한 Mobile 응용프로그램들을 개발하는데 기초가 될것이다.
