현대 패션 및 메이크업에 표현된 데카당스적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Decadent Characteristics in Modern Fashion and Make-up)

  • The purpose of this study was to be of use for more successful prediction of possible Prevailing aesthetic characteristics in the future, by reviewing how decadent features have actually been unfolded in fashion and make-up since the end of 20th century, as we are now in the new 21st century. The decadent traits of modern fashion and make-up since the late'90s could be listed as follows : first, the fashion has intentionally been designed to look disgusting, where realistic and imaginary images coexist, by using a half-man, half-machine image or vividly describing detestable animal skin, There have also been disgusting features in the make-up, which are so extremely weird that we can created by adding vinyl or pieces of textiles like Patch of the 17th century. Second, the satanic character of the fashion seems to be meant to keep in harmony with evil image such as Dracula, witch, skeleton or warrior of the evil, in order to charge the unnatural, inhuman and fin-de-siecle Phenomenon and find out what It really means for the inner world of men. And the demonic expressions of the make-up chiefly use white or black color or blue color of low saturation or low lightness, and part of facial features is exaggerated or shortchanged. Third, the decadent characteristics are expressed in the fashion by attaching sensational ornament to the human bode or using sexual exposure. So they give unnatural, unsound and extremely erotic impressions. The decadent features in the make-up are generated by excessively using a gay red color or sensational, exciting colors. Fourth, the exoticism of the fashion is largely affected by China's Chipaoh, Japan's Kimono or primitive motives from Africa, as there are increasing interests in Asia. And that of the make-up leans toward the East, as Kabuki make-up from Japan, Kyongkeuk make-up from China or the primitive features from Africa are employed.

Development of Low-Vgs N-LDMOS Structure with Double Gate Oxide for Improving Rsp

  • This paper aims to develop a low gate source voltage ($V_{gs}$) N-LDMOS element that is fully operational at a CMOS Logic Gate voltage (3.3 or 5 V) realized using the 0.35 μm BCDMOS process. The basic structure of the N-LDMOS element presented here has a Low $V_{gs}$ LDMOS structure to which the thickness of a logic gate oxide is applied. Additional modification has been carried out in order to obtain features of an improved breakdown voltage and a specific on resistance ($R_{sp}$). A N-LDMOS element can be developed with improved features of breakdown voltage and specific on resistance, which is an important criterion for power elements by means of using a proper structure and appropriate process modification. In this paper, the structure has been made to withstand the excessive electrical field on the drain side by applying the double gate oxide structure to the channel area, to improve the specific on resistance in addition to providing a sufficient breakdown voltage margin. It is shown that the resulting modified N-LDMOS structure with the feature of the specific on resistance is improved by 31%, and so it is expected that optimized power efficiencies and the size-effectiveness can be obtained.

A Comprehensive and Practical Image Enhancement Method

  • Image enhancement is a challenging problem in the field of image processing, especially low-light color images enhancement. This paper proposed a robust and comprehensive enhancement method based several points. First, the idea of bright channel is introduced to estimate the illumination map which is used to attain the enhancing result with Retinex model, and the color constancy is keep as well. Second, in order eliminate the illumination offsets wrongly estimated, morphological closing operation is used to modify the initial estimating illumination. Furthermore, in order to avoid fabricating edges, enlarged noises and over-smoothed visual features appearing in enhancing result, a multi-scale closing operation is used. At last, in order to avoiding the haloes and artifacts presented in enhancing result caused by gradient information lost in previous step, guided filtering is introduced to deal with previous result with guided image is initial bright channel. The proposed method can get good illumination map, and attain very effective enhancing results, including dark area is enhanced with more visual features, color natural and constancy, avoiding artifacts and over-enhanced, and eliminating Incorrect light offsets.

  • Recently, Note PCs have being widely used due to their features such as good mobility and low power consumption. In order to ensure the current market position, further improvement is required. Especially, the lower operating voltage is essential for the long operating time of Note PCs. For the achievement of lower operating voltage, possible contributions from LC materials side are to lower the viscosity and to increase the dielectric constant without sacrificing the reliability. In order to achieve lower driving voltage, new LC mixtures have been developed, optimizing theirs physical properties.

Merging Features and Optical-NIR Color Gradient of Early-type Galaxies

  • It has been suggested that merging plays an important role in the formation and the evolution of early-type galaxies. Optical-NIR color gradients of early-type galaxies in high density environments are found to be less steep than those in low density environment, hinting frequent merger activities in early-type galaxies in high density environment. In order to confirm if the flat color gradient is the result of dry merger, we decided to look deeply to find merging features and get their relation with color gradient. We selected samples which show extreme values of optical-NIR color gradients based on the data of previous study, and observed them at Maidanak observatory 1.5m telescope with long exposure. After masking out overlaid sources, our analysis reveals that these galaxies do not have extreme color gradient values. High degree sky flat technique was used during observation to aid discovery of faint, extended features. However, flatness of detector (SNUCAM) was good enough, so we could not see any marked improvement in image quality compared to those using normal sky flats. Additionally we noticed a feature that looks like merging tidal tail in the CFHT archival image, but this does not show up on the image we obtained. This demonstrates that flatness and correct sky estimation is very important when we look for faint merging features. In future we plan to enlarge the number of the sample.

가정환경을 위한 실용적인 SLAM 기법 개발 : 비전 센서와 초음파 센서의 통합 (A Practical Solution toward SLAM in Indoor environment Based on Visual Objects and Robust Sonar Features)

  • Improving practicality of SLAM requires various sensors to be fused effectively in order to cope with uncertainty induced from both environment and sensors. In this case, combining sonar and vision sensors possesses numerous advantages of economical efficiency and complementary cooperation. Especially, it can remedy false data association and divergence problem of sonar sensors, and overcome low frequency SLAM update caused by computational burden and weakness in illumination changes of vision sensors. In this paper, we propose a SLAM method to join sonar sensors and stereo camera together. It consists of two schemes, extracting robust point and line features from sonar data and recognizing planar visual objects using multi-scale Harris corner detector and its SIFT descriptor from pre-constructed object database. And fusing sonar features and visual objects through EKF-SLAM can give correct data association via object recognition and high frequency update via sonar features. As a result, it can increase robustness and accuracy of SLAM in indoor environment. The performance of the proposed algorithm was verified by experiments in home -like environment.

  • 대부분의 영상들은 여러 객체 영역들의 시각적인 특징과 각각의 의미들의 조합으로 구성되어 있다. 그러나 일반적으로 영상 처리를 위한 컴퓨터 시스템들은 영상을 특정 객체 영역의 의미 정보 단위로 해석하지 못하기 때문에 사람이 영상을 인지하는 것과 의미적인 차이(semantic gap)가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 각 객체 영역 단위에서 추출한 고유한 특징점들을 고차원의 의미 정보로 모델링하여 영상을 분류하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 객체 단위로 추출된 고유한 특징점들의 의미 정보를 특정 객체 영역을 인식하기 위한 의미 단서로 이용한다. 이를 통하여 기존의 영상 분류 방법들에 비하여 인간의 인지 능력과 유사하고 보다 효율적으로 영상을 분류할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 실험 결과는 다양한 카테고리 종류의 영상에 대하여 제안하는 방법의 효과적인 분류 성능을 보여준다.

  • 임펄스 기반의 초광대역 통신 기술은 이론적으로 근거리에서 고속의 데이터 전송과 고해상도의 거리 인지 및 무선 측위가 가능하다는 장점을 가지고 있지만 이러한 기능들을 수행하기 위해서는 우선적으로 고속의 ADC(Analog to Digital Convertor)가 요구되며 특히, 시간 기반의 무선 측위 기법을 적용할 경우 더욱 그러하다. 그러나 현실적으로 GHz 이상의 고속의 ADC는 매우 고가이기 때문에 본 논문에서 목표로 하는 저비용을 고려한 저속의 무선 개인 영역 네트워크 (Low Rate - Wireless Personal Area Network; LR-WPAN)에서는 부적합하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 저속의 ADC로 고정밀의 무선 측위가 가능한 주파수 영역에서 계산의 복잡도가 낮은 AR(Auto Regressive) 모델을 기반으로한 레인징 기법을 소개하고, 아날로그 단에서 주파수 변환을 위해 카운터를 이용한 VCO(Voltage Control Oscillator) 방식의 non-coherent 기반의 수신 구조를 제안한다. 제안된 기법에 대한 성능을 검증하기 위해서 IEEE 802.15.4a TG에서 제시한 채널 모델을 적용하였으며 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 제안된 레인징 및 측위 방안의 우수성을 검증하였다.

  • The sensor network that may be deemed to fall in the field of ubiquitous computing performs the basic function of transmitting sensing data through the autonomous sensing and the Ad hoc network. In order to collect and treat various sensing data at the time of application and manage extremely limited system resources, the sensor network requires the embedded operating system that uses low power, a small cord size and the least hardware resources. In this paper, The operating system having a new structure for constructing the IEEE 802. 15.4 MAC and Zigbee sensor network is suggested and can be formed by reviewing the characteristics and the core structural requirements of the operating system for the sensor network based on operating systems, which have been formed under existing similar conditions, and applying such features and core structural requirements to the design of the operating system for achieving the features and the requirements.

Pattern Recognition of Meteorological fields Using Self-Organizing Map (SOM)

  • In order to systematically and visually understand well-known but qualitative and rotatively complicated relationships between synoptic fields in the BAIU season and heavy rainfall events in Japan, these synoptic fields were classified using the Self-Organizing Map (SOM) algorithm. This algorithm can convert complex nonlinear features into simple two-dimensional relationships, and was followed by the application of the clustering techniques of the U-matrix and the K-means. It was assumed that the meteorological field patterns be simply expressed by the spatial distribution of wind components at the 850 hPa level and Precipitable Water (PW) in the southwestern area including Kyushu in Japan. Consequently, the synoptic fields could be divided into eight kinds of patterns (clusters). One of the clusters has the notable spatial feature represented by high PW accompanied by strong wind components known as Low-Level Jet (LLJ). The features of this cluster indicate a typical meteorological field pattern that frequently causes disastrous heavy rainfall in Kyushu in the rainy season. From these results, the SOM technique may be an effective tool for the classification of complicated non-linear synoptic fields.
