The effect of diisocyanate type on the decomposition temperature of polyurethane (PU) hydrolysis was investigated in a subcritical water medium up to 250℃. PU samples were prepared using different types of diisocyanate: two aromatic diisocyanates (4,4'-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and methyl phenylene diisocyanate (TDI)), one unbranched aliphatic diisocyanate (hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI)), and two cyclic aliphatic diisocyanates (4,4'-methylene dicyclohexyl diisocyanate (H12MDI) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI)). The pressure had no effect on hydrolysis in the range of 70-250 bar. The decomposition temperature of the PU samples increased in the following order: TDI-PU (199℃) < H12MDI ≈ IPDI ≈ HDI (218-220℃) < MDI-PU (237℃). This order of increase in temperature is related to the electron-donating ability of the group to connected to the nitrogen of the urethane unit. When the temperature of the (PU + water) mixture reached the specific decomposition temperature, the PU samples hydrolyzed completely within 5 min into primary amine and 1,4-butanediol. The hydrolysis products from MDI-PU and H12MDI-PU were separated into a liquid phase rich in (BD + water) and a solid low phase rich in amine, whereas the products from TDI-, IPDI-, and HDI-PU existed in a single aqueous phase.
The ${\beta} to {\alpha}$ phase transition in silver iodide is studied with the (N, V, E) and (N, P, T) molecular dynamics (MD) method. In experiments, the phase transition temperature is 420 K. Upon heating of ${\beta}$ form, the iodine ions undergo hcp to bcc transformation and silver ions become mobile. MD simulations for the ${\beta}$ and ${\alpha}$ phases are carried out at several temperatures and the radial distribution functions (rdf) are obtained at those temperatures in the (N, V, E) ensemble. But the phase transition is not found in our calculation. Next the phase transition is studied with the (N, P, T) MD and we find some evidences of phase transition. At 3 Kbars and 2 Kbars the phase transition temperatu re is about 300 K. For 3.55 Kbars, the phase transition is higher (420 K) than the low pressure case. The phase transition temperature is somewhat dependent on the pressure in our calculations.
The creep-rupture and low cycle fatigue properties of transient liquid phase bonded joints of Ni-base single crystal superalloy, CMSX-2 was investigated using MBF-80 insert metal. The (100) orientation of bonded specimen was aligned perpendicular to the joint interface. CMSX-2 was bonded at 1523K for 1.8ks in vacuum, optimum bonding condition. The creep rupture strength and rupture lives of the joints were the almost identical to ones of the base metal. SEM observation of the fracture surfaces of joints after creep rupture test revealed that the fracture surfaces classified three types of region, ductile fracture surface, cleavage fracture surface and interfacial fracture surface. The low cycle fatigue properties of the joints were also the same level as those of base metal. The elongation and reduction of area values of joints were comparable to those of base metal while fell down on creep rupture condition of high temperature.
Jominy hardenability curves of low alloy steel containing less than 5 wt.% of alloying elements in total were calculated by applying Scheil's rule of additivity to pre-calculated isothermal transformation curve. Isothermal transformation curve for each phase in steel was approximated as a simple mathematical equation by using Kirkaldy's approach and all coefficients in the equation were estimated from experimental temperature-time-transformation (TTT) and/or continuous cooling transformation (CCT) data in the literature. Then jominy test with simple boundary conditions was performed in computer by applying the finite difference scheme. The resultant cooling curves at each location along a longitudinal direction of Jominy bar were applied to calculate phase fractions as well as mechanical properties such as micro Vickers hardness. The simulated results were compared with experimental CCT data and Jominy curves in the literature.

A fiberoptic sensor using a low-coherence SLD as a light source has been studied. The sensor system employing an intrinsic fiber Fabry-Peort interferometer as a sensing tip and a fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer as a processing one, overcomes the ambiguous reading caused by the highly periodic natrue of conventional high-precision interferometric sensors and provides unambiguous identification of the desired phase among several candidates on the transfer function of an interferometric signal. A tentative application to the temperature sensor shows the potential that the fiberoptic sensor has a side-dynamic range of $0-900^{\circ}C$ as well as reasonable resolution higher than $0.1^{\circ}C$ without ambiguity. Due to the inherent property of the optical fiber itself and the intrinsic fiber Fabry-Perot interferometer, the proposed fiberoptic sensor will give obvious benefits when it is applied to harsh environments to monitor some physical parameters such as temperature, strain, pressure and vibration.
Polysilicon this film transistors (poly-Si TFTs) with different channel dimensions were fabricated on low-temperature crystalized amorphous silicon films and on as-deposited polysilicon films. The electrical characteristics of these TFTs were characterized and compared. The performance of the TFTs fabricated on the solid-phase crystalized amophous silicon films ws showon to be superior to that of the TFTs fabricated on the as-deposited polysilicon films. It was found that the performance of poly-Si TFTs depends strongly on the material characteristics of the polysilicon films used as the active layers, but only weakly on the channel dimensions.

A new series of three ring type liquid crystalline compounds containing partially fluorinated alkenyl or alkyl side chains together with fluorine substituted cyclohexylbiphenyls were designed and synthesized in this study. The structures of synthe sized compounds were established by 1 H, 13 C and 19 F NMR spectroscopy. The phase transition temperatures of fluorinated liquid crystalline compounds were determined by cross-polarizing mi-croscopy equipped withhot stage. All compounds were found to have nematic liquid crystalline phase with rel-atively low phase transition temperature and wide liquid crystalline temperature range. The dependence of phase transition temperatures on the chainlength falls into three categories; (a) decreasing transition tempera-tures for 4-fluoro-4'-[4-fluoro-4-(1-fluoroalkyl)cyclohexyl]biphenyl (15) series, (b) higher transition tempera-tures for odd numbered chains for 4-fluoro-4'-[4-fluoro-4-(1-fluoroalk-1-enyl)cyclohexyl]biphenyl (14) series, (c) higher transition temperatures for even numbered chains for 4-[4-(1,2-difluoroalk-1-enyl)-4-fluorocyclo-hexyl]-4'-fluorobiphenyl (16) series.

Currently, as Plasma application is expanded to the industrial and medical industrial, low temperature plasma applications became important. Especially in medical and biology, many researchers have studied about generated radical species in atmospheric pressure low temperature plasma directly adapted to human body. Therefore, so measurement their plasma parameter is very important work and is widely studied all around world. One of the plasma parameters is electron density and it is closely relative to radical production through the plasma source. some kinds of method to measuring the electron density are Thomson scattering spectroscopy and Millimeter-wave transmission measurement. But most methods have very expensive cost and complex configuration to composed of experiment system. We selected Michelson interferometer system which is very cheap and simple to setting up, so we tried to measuring electron density by laser interferometer with laser beam chopping module for measurement of temporal phase difference in plasma jet. To measuring electron density at atmospheric pressure Ar plasma jet, we obtained the temporal phase shift signal of interferometer. Phase difference of interferometer can occur because of change by refractive index of electron density in plasma jet. The electron density was able to estimate with this phase difference values by using physical formula about refractive index change of external electromagnetic wave in plasma. Our guiding laser used Helium-Neon laser of the centered wavelength of 632 nm. We installed chopper module which can make a 4kHz pulse laser signal at the laser front side. In this experiment, we obtained more exact synchronized phase difference between with and without plasma jet than reported data at last year. Especially, we found the phase difference between time range of discharge current. Electron density is changed from Townsend discharge's electron bombardment, so we observed the phase difference phenomenon and calculated the temporal electron density by using phase shift. In our result, we suggest that the electron density have approximately range between 1014~ 1015 cm-3 in atmospheric pressure Ar plasma jet.
In this study, we investigate the performance of Global Seasonal Forecasting System version 5 (GloSea5) in Korea Meteorological Administration on the relationship between El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ and East Asian climate for the period of 1991~2010. It is found that the GloSea5 has a great prediction skill of El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ whose anomaly correlation coefficients of $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ indices are over 0.96 during winter. The eastern Pacific (EP) El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ and the central Pacific (CP) El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ are considered and we analyze for EP El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$, which is well simulated in GloSea5. The analysis period is divided into the developing phase of El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ summer (JJA(0)), mature phase of El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ winter (D(0)JF(1)), and decaying phase of El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ summer (JJA(1)). The GloSea5 simulates the relationship between precipitation and temperature in East Asia and the prediction skill for the East Asian precipitation and temperature varies depending on the El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ phase. While the precipitation and temperature are simulated well over the equatorial western Pacific region, there are biases in mid-latitude region during the JJA(0) and JJA(1). Because the low level pressure, wind, and vertical stream function are simulated weakly toward mid-latitude region, though they are similar with observation in low-latitude region. During the D(0)JF(1), the precipitation and temperature patterns analogize with observation in most regions, but there is temperature bias in inland over East Asia. The reason is that the GloSea5 poorly predicts the weakening of Siberian high, even though the shift of Aleutian low is predicted. Overall, the predictability of precipitation and temperature related to El $Ni{\tilde{n}}o$ in the GloSea5 is considered to be better in D(0)JF(1) than JJA(0) and JJA(1) and better in ocean than in inland region.
