TMA clathrate that is used as PCM of low temperature thermal storage system in this research creates hydrate crystallization at higher temperature then pure water, and its application is expected as PCM because of comparatively big latent heat without phase separation phenomenon. Acetone, Ethylen Glycol, and Ethanol is used as additive and evaluated experimentally for the purpose of the improvement in subcooling of TMA clathrate. In view of the results so far achieved subcooling is improved, the running time of the refrigerator is reduced. Thus the results are expected to use for the increase of coefficient of performance of low temperature thermal storage system in the building.
We have investigated the effects of crystalline activation on solid phase crystallization (SPC) of amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin films. Wet blasting and self ion implantation were employed as the activation treatments to induce macro or micro crystalline damages on deposited a-Si films. Low temperature and larger grain crystallization were obtained by the applied two-step activation. High degree of crystallinity was also observed on both furnace and rapid SPC. crystalline activations showed the promotion of nucleation on the activated regions and the retardation of growth in an amorphous matrix in SPC. The observed behavior of two-step SPC was strongly dependent on the applied activation and annealing processes. It was also found that the diversified effects by macro and micro activations on the SPC were virtually diminished as the annealing temperature increased.
Single phase La1-xSrxCoO3 (x≤0.2) was synthesized as a uniform sized 100 nm particulates with relatively high surface area of 20-30 m2/g, at low temperature (≥600 ℃), from a polymeric gel precursors prepared by using poly(vinyl alcohol) as homogenizer. No minor phase developed during the crystallization when polymer/metal mole ratio was higher than 3. As the polymer/metal mole ratio was raised in the gel, the amount of carbonaceous residues in the amorphous solid precursor prepared by heating the gel at 300 ℃ increased. Most of the residues were eliminated by exothermic thermal decomposition around 400 ℃. The amount of residual carbon (less than 1%) left in the crystalline La1-xSrxCoO3 decreased as more polymer was used, eliminating detrimental effect which might be posed by using large amount of organic homogenizer. The crystal structure of La1-xSrxCoO3 synthesized at temperature lower than 800 ℃ was observed to be shifted from rhombohedral to more symmetric cubic. The structure shifted back to rhombohedral as the cubic sample was annealed at 1000 ℃.
In this study, we are crystallized to the low density polyethylene (LDPE) micro-particles in $n$-dodecanol solution by thermally induced phase separation(TIPS) method. The Low density polyethylene micro-particles is used in a wide variety of polymer coatings and industrial application. The utility of that for a particular application depends on a number of factors such as the particle size and distribution, and chemical composition of the materials. However, there are still needs for new methods of preparation which will provide the structure with unique sizes. The widely used processes for micro-size particles are crystallization method and thermally induced phase separation. TIPS process based on the phase separation mechanism was performed for the LDPE system which undergoes liquid-solid phase separation. Effects of various operating parameters were examined on the structure variation of the particles. Professionality, take-up speed and crystallization rate depended on temperature and concentration of polymer in solution.

The NdBaCuO superconductor samples were zone-melted in low oxygen partial pressure (1 % $O_2$+99%Ar). The zone-melting temperature was decreased about 12$0^{\circ}C$ from 1, 06$0^{\circ}C$, the zone-melting temperature in air. Thus the loss of liquid phase (BaCu $O_2$and CuO) was reduced during the zone-melting process. The content of non-superconducting phase Nd422 in zone-melted NdBaCuO samples was clearly decreased and, therefore, the substitution of Nd for Ba was occurred. The superconductivity of zone-melted N $d_{1+x}$B $a_{2-x}$C $u_3$$O_{y}$prepared under low oxygen partial pressure was distinctively improved.d.d.d.
Vanadium dioxide (VO2) is a strongly correlated oxide exhibiting a first-order metal-insulator transition (MIT) that is accompanied by a structural phase transition from a low temperature monoclinic phase to a high-temperature rutile phase. VO2 has attracted significant attention because of a variety of possible applications based on its ultrafast MIT. Interestingly, the transition nature of VO2 is significantly affected by stress due to doping and/or interaction with a substrate and/or surface tension as well as defects. Accordingly, there have been considerable efforts to understand the influences of such factors on the phase transition and the fundamental mechanisms behind the MIT behavior. Here, we present the influences of oxygen deficiency, hydrogen doping, and substrate-induced stress on MIT phenomena in single-crystalline VO2 nanobeams. Specifically, the work function and the electrical resistance of the VO2 nanobeams change with the compositional variation due to the oxygen-deficiency-related defects. In addition, the VO2 nanobeams during exposure to hydrogen gas exhibit the reduction of transition temperature and the complex phase inhomogenieties arising from both substrate-induced stress and the formation of the hydrogen doping-induced metallic rutile phase.
Nasigels of composition Na0.75Zr2PSi2O12 and Na3Zr2PSi2O12 have been synthesized by the sol-gel technique using metal alkoxide precursors. The monolithic dry gels of Na0.75Zr2PSi2O12 with no crack have been prepared by the control of the shrinkage rte, but gels of Na3Zr2PSi2O12 were impossible to prepare without cracking. The gels treated up to 80$0^{\circ}C$ led to the formtion of glass but the glasses were converted to the crystalline phases at above this temperature. Crystaline phases precipitated from the Na0.75Zr2PSi2O12 glass were NASICON-like phase, Na2Si2O5, and free Zirconia. Phase that precipitated from the Na3Zr2PSi2O12 was only rhombohedral NASICON. For Na0.75Zr2PSi2O12 gels, framework of PO4 tetrahedra and SiO4(PO4) tetrahedra formed at low temperature but changed to that of SiO4 and SiO4(PO4) tetrahedras as it were crystallized. In the case of Na3Zr2PSi2O12 gel, framework of isolated PO4 and SiO4 tetrahedras formed at low temperature but changed to SiO4(PO4) tetrahedra framework which usually formed in the NASICON crystal after crystallization at high temperature. The gels treated up to 80$0^{\circ}C$ contained the residual water. The ionic conduction was attributed to the motion of proton and Na+ ion at low (up to 150~20$0^{\circ}C$) and high temperatures, respectively. As the temperature of heat treatment increased, ionic conductivity gradaully increased with the extent of precipitation of crystalline phase.
SiC materials have been extensively studied for high temperature components in advanced energy system and advanced gas turbine because it has excellent high temperature strength, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good resistance to oxidation and good thermal and chemical stability etc. However, the brittle characteristics of SiC such as low fracture toughness and low strain-to fracture still impose a severe limitation on practical applications of SiC materials. For these reasons, SiC/SiC composites can be considered as a promising for various structural materials, because of their good fracture toughness compared with monolithic SiC ceramics. But, high temperature and pressure lead to the degradation of the reinforcing jiber during the hot pressing. Therefore, reduction of sintering temperature and pressure is key requirements for the fabrication of SiC/SiC composites by hot pressing method. In the present work, monolithic Liquid Phase Sintered SiC (LPS-SiC) was fabricated by hot pressing method in Ar atmosphere at $1800^{\circ}C$ under 20MPa using $Al_2O_3,\;Y_2O_3\;and\;SiO_2$ as sintering additives in order to low sintering temperature and sintering pressure. The starting powder was high purity $\beta-SiC$ nano-powder with all average particle size of 30mm. The characterization of LPS-SiC was investigated by means of SEM and three point bending test. Base on the composition of sintering additives-, microstructure- and mechanical property correlation, tire compositions of sintering additives are discussed.
Isothermal and thermal-mechanical fatigue characteristics of 12Cr heat resisting steel used for high temperature applications were investigated including hold time effects. Isothermal low cycle fatigue test at $600^{\circ}C$ and in-phase, out-of-phase thermal-mechanical fatigue test at 350 to $600^{\circ}C$ were conducted using smooth cylindrical hollow specimen under strain-control with total strain ranges from 0.006 to 0.015. Regardless of thermal-mechanical and isothermal fatigue tests, cyclic softening behavior was observed and much more pronounced in the thermal-mechanical fatigue tests with hold times due to the stress relaxation during the hold time. The phase difference between temperature and strain in thermal-mechanical fatigue tests resulted in significantly shorter fatigue life for out-of-phase compared to in-phase. The differences in fatigue lives were dependent upon the magnitudes of plastic strain ranges and mean stresses. During the hold time in the strain-controlled fatigue tests, the increase in the plastic strain range and the stress relaxation were observed. It appeared that the increase in plastic strain range per cycle and the introduction of creep damage made important contributions to the reduction of thermal-mechanical fatigue life with hold time, and the life reduction tendency was more remarkable in the in-phase than in the out-of-phase thermal-mechanical fatigue. Isothermal fatigue tests performed under the combination of fast and slow strain rates at $600^{\circ}C$ showed that the fatigue life decreased as the strain rate and frequency decreased, especially for the low strain ranges.
Low temperature ${\delta}$-precipitation phenomenon below 2-step aging ($718^{\circ}C$, $8hr+621^{\circ}C$, 8 hr) temperature of cold drawn Inconel 718 alloy wire was investigated. The investigation was carried out on wires with a cold drawn ratio of 0, 20, 50 and 70% using OM, SEM, XRD, TEM, and DSC. In microstructures of 50 and 70% drawn wire, many precipitates were found along the grain boundaries and the twin boundaries in deformation band. From the results of the XRD and TEM analysis, the precipitates were identified as plate-like ${\delta}$-phase. From the results of the DSC analysis, it was also found that a temperature of ${\delta}$-precipitation decreases with an increase of the cold drawn ratio. We concluded that cold drawing of inconel 718 wire promotes the ${\delta}$-precipitation, and under the condition of a high drawing ratio, the ${\delta}$-phase could be precipitated at a temperature below the aging temperature ($718^{\circ}C$).
