  • The solution for PFC(Power Factor Correction), as a regulation in energy Policy, is becoming a hot Issue in every country because of the shortage of electrical energy. Therefore, a new improved idea for PFC problem has been introduced in this study. A lot of merits, effective cost by simple circuit, reduced PCB size, lighter than reactor in the view of weight, lower level of screen noise by leakage inductance in CTV applications, have been stated by comparing to the earlier method of using a Reactor. All test results in this statement were done by using a power device of STR-G9600 series based on the real load condition of color television. furthermore, the study shows that the test results also meets the IEC-1000-3-2 class D, which regulates the PFC when input power of a set is more than 75watts. More improved PFC in other applications hopes to be implemented by using the proposed method.

EVALUATION OF THE APPLICABLE REACTIVITY RANGE OF A REACTIVITY COMPUTER FOR A CANDU-6 REACTOR

  • Recently, a CANDU digital reactivity computer system (CDRCS) to measure the worth of the liquid zone controller in a CANDU-6 was developed and successfully applied to a physics test of refurbished Wolsong Unit 1. In advance of using the CDRCS, its measureable reactivity range should be investigated and confirmed. There are two reasons for this investigation. First, the CANDU-6 has a larger reactor and smaller excore detectors than a general PWR and consequently the measured reactivity is likely to reflect the peripheral power variation only, not the whole core. The second reason is photo neutrons generated from the interaction of the moderator and gamma-rays, which are never considered in a PWR. To evaluate the limitations of the CDRCS, several tens of three-dimensional steady and transient simulations were performed. The simulated detector signals were used to obtain the dynamic reactivity. The difference between the dynamic reactivity and the static worth increases in line with the water level changes. The maximum allowable reactivity was determined to be 1.4 mk in the case of CANDU-6 by confining the difference to less than 1%.

  • The purpose of this study is know the fuel economy of difference tractive resistance calculation methods on light duty low-floor bus. Two tractive resistance calculation methods(coastdown test and JFCM conversion formula) are tested to understand the difference of fuel economy. JFCM was developed for fuel economy regulations of heavy duty vehicle. That show a big difference as a result of the calculation using coastdown test and JFCM conversion formula. The difference of the tractive resistance affects the fuel economy.

  • A propulsion system apparatus is needed for a railroad vehicle to test and estimate propulsion performance. The electrical inertia simulator to facilitate the development and testing of propulsion systems, is presented in this paper. It is based on a vector-controlled Induction motor drive supplied from the AC mains through a double PWM converter that provides desirable features such as hi-directional power folw, nearly unity power factor and low harmonic factor at the Ac mains. A theoretical analysis is first presented, followed by a detailed simulation study to assess the overall system performance under dynamic conditions.

마그네트론 스퍼터링 증착 조건에 따른 $\textrm{SnO}_2$ 박막의 미세구조와 가스검지특성 변화 (Effects of Process Variables on the Microstructure and Gas Sensing Characteristics of Magnetron Sputtered $\textrm{SnO}_2$Thin Films)

  • 마그네트론 스퍼터로 알루미나 기판위에 $\textrm{SnO}_2$박막을 증착하여 증착온도, rf 전력, 공정기체 중 산소분율(O$_2$/Ar)등 공정변수에 따른 박막의 미세구조와 가스검지 특성을 조사하였다. 증착된 박막의 미세구조는 결정성이 없는 비정질 구조(A), 비정질 기지 중에 결정이 분산된 구조(A=P), 방향성이 거의 없는 다결정 구조(P), 미세 기둥구조(FC), 조대한 기둥구조(CC), 고밀도 특성을 보이는 섬유상 구조(Zone T)의 6가지로 분류되었다. 공정 중 산소를 첨가하지 않았을 때, 저온, 낮은 rf 전력에서 A 구조가, 저온, 높은 rf 전력에서 A+P 구조가, 고온, 높은 rf 전력에서 P 구조가 형성되었고, 산소 첨가 시는 낮은 rf 전력, 저온에서 FC 구조가, 낮은 rf 전력, 고온에서 CC 구조, 높은 rf 전력, 저온에서 Zone T 구조가 형성되었다. 위의 미세구조를 가진 박막들을 센서로 제작하여 $200^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$에서 CO 가스에 대한 민감도를 측정한 결과$200^{\circ}C$에서는 감도가 나타나지 않으며, $300^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$에서는 FC 구조를 가진 센서가 다른 미세구조를 가진 센서에 비해 우수한 감도를 나타냈다. 이는 미세한 column 들로 이루어진 FC 구조의 높은 비표면적으로 인해 산소와 피검가스의 흡착이 많아지게 되고, 가스흡착에 의한 저항변화, 즉 감도가 높게 나타나는 것으로 판단된다.

  • Recently, Stirling engines are emerging as a key device for power conversion of renewable energy or waste energy. This study develops a LTDSE(Low Temperature Differential Stirling Engine) using a water spray for higher heat transfer and performs load performance tests for various flow rates and temperatures of hot water spray for variable engine loads emulated by a mechanical friction device. Internal temperature and pressure, working frequency and inlet and outlet temperature of the supply water are measured. As a result, the increases in flow rate and temperature of hot water respectively enhance the power output, efficiency and the working frequency, while the increasing engine load leads to decreases in working frequency but increases in the pressure amplitude. Eventually, it is revealed there exists a maximum shaft power of the test engine.

  • This paper presents an electronic ballast using a step down converter, a low frequency inverter for high pressure discharge lamp. The proposed ballast is composed of a full-wave rectifier, a step down converter operated as a current source with power regulation and a low frequency inverter with ignition circuit. The ignition circuit generates high voltage pulse of 1${\sim}$2[kV] peak, 130[Hz]. Moreover, it is able to reignite at regular intervals by protective circuit. As experimental results on the test, lamp voltage, current and consumption power are measured 132.5[V], 7.6[A] and 1,005[W], respectively. It was confirmed that the designed ballast operate the lamp with a constant power.

  • The transformer is major equipment in power receiving and substation facilities. Necessary conditions required for the transformer are compactness, lightness, high reliability, economic advantages, and easy maintenance. The pole-mount transformer installed in distribution system is acting direct role in supply of electric power and it is electric power device should drive for long term. Most of modem transformer are oil-filled transformer and accident is happening considerable. The mold transformers have been widely used in underground substations in large building and have some advantages in comparison to oil-transformer, that is low fire risk, excellent environmental compatibility, compact size and high reliability. In addition, the application of mold transformer for outdoor is possible due to development of epoxy resin. The mold transformer generally has cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil. A mold transformer made by one body molding method has been developed for small size and low loss. One body molding transformer needs some cooling method because heat radiation between each winding is difficult. In this paper, The thermal analysis of pole mount mold transformer with one body molding by duct condition is investigated and the test result of temperature rise is compared with simulation data.

  • The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. Owing to high efficiency and easy speed control of brushless DC(BLDC) motor, the demand of BLDC motor that has high power and low noises are increasing. Especially demand of interior permanent magnet(IPM) type BLDC with high efficiency and high power in electric motion vehicle is increasing. This paper presents the design of the BLBC motor for EHPS(Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) in 42V system and verified the characteristics by simulation and test results.

  • One of the most popular internal combustion engines is the engine in the transportation device. Power is a parameter that shows the capabilities of an object that gives energy, for example the internal combustion engine. Power in this engine is measured by a device called dynamometer. The CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) fluent software was simulated several impeller variables to absorb power of engine. With that result, we knew the biggest dynamometer absorber power, cheapest and easy to be made. The hydraulic dynamometer is selected type of dynamometer as the result of design process. The basic principle of a hydraulic dynamometer is the same as centrifugal pump but it has low pump efficiency. The results of the test are maximum power and torque of the tested engine and the operation area of the selected hydraulic dynamometer.
