고온의 예열공기를 이용한 액체연료의 분무 연소특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Light Oil Combustion Characteristics With High-Preheated Air)

  • An experimental study has been carried on high-preheated temperature air combustion. The flames with high-preheated temperature air combustion turned out to be both temporally and spatially much more stable and homogeneous than these with room-temperature combustion air. The global flame feature showed a range of flame colors (yellow, blue, blurish-green) according to the flame conditions. A low level of NOx along with low level of CO has been obtained under high-preheated air combustion conditions. The thermal and chemical behavior of high-preheated air combustion flames depends on the preheated temperature and the oxygen concentration of air.

강제 맥동류를 이용한 연소특성 연구 (A Study on Combustion Characteristics using Forced Pulsating Flow)

  • The combustion characteristics using forced pulsating flow were experimentally investigated with confined premixed flames stabilized by a reward-facing step. The intermittent combustion has many merits, for instance, such as high load combustion, high heat transfer, low emission gas, compared with those of continuous combustion. For these purposes, data processing of binary image was conducted to reveal the differences between intermittent and continuous combustion. As the results, it was possible to calculate the reaction zone using OH-emission band and, therefore, showed that forced pulsating flow was useful in combustion technology.

외부가진 오일 버너의 고효율 저 NOx 배출특성 (Emission Characteristic for High Efficiency and Low NOx of Externally Oscillated Oil Burner)

  • The important factor for the development of burner is the achievement of low emissions with maintaining combustibility. In case of maintaining high temperature flame and excess air to increase the combustibility, it is possible to achieve high combustion efficiency, due to the reduction of UHC(unborn hydrocarbon), carbon monoxide and soot. However, it is difficult to reduce the thermal NOx produced in the high temperature flame. To solve this problem, we developed externally oscillated oil burner which is possible for the high efficiency combustion and low NOx emission, simultaneously. The experiment of flame characteristics and NOx reduction were achieved according to the variation of frequency, amplitude and air velocity. Frequency, amplitude and air velocity are the most important parameter. The optimum operating conditions are frequency 1,900 Hz, amplitude 3 $V_{pp.}$ and air velocity 6.8 m/s. Reduction of NOx and CO are 47% and 22%, respectively.

  • Mild combustion or Flameless oxidation(FLOX) have been considered as one of the most prospective clean-combustion technologies to meet both the targets of high process efficiency and low pollutant emissions. A mild combustor with high air preheating and strong internal exhaust gas recirculation is characterized by relatively low flame temperature, low NOx emissions, no visible flame and no sound. In this study, the Steady Flamelet Approach has been applied to numerically analyze the combustion processes and NOx formation in the mild combustor. The detailed discussion has been made f3r the basic characteristics of mild combustor, numerical results and limitation of the present combustion modeling.

저온연소엔진 실용화를 위한 연소전략에 대한 연구 (Investigation of Combustion Strategy for Commercialization of Low Temperature Diesel Combustion Engine)

  • Robustness and controllability are the key factors in internal combustion engine commercialization. This study focuses on the combustion strategy to commercialize the low temperature diesel combustion technology. Various LTC combustion methods such as PPCI, MK and highly diluted mixing controlled LTC were conducted on 6.0L heavy duty diesel engine. To find the best feasible LTC strategy, emission level, fuel consumption and combustion safety during the combustion mode change were considered. Experiments were carried out under various engine operating conditions; engine speed & load, EGR level, injection timing. Finally, this study suggests realizable LTC combustion strategy; moderate EGR level and slight early injection are possible to considerably lower PM, NOx emission and expand LTC operating range up to 50% load without CO and HC emission.

디젤 연소 전략에 따른 배기가스 및 탄화수소 종 분석 (Diesel Combustion Strategies Effect on Exhaust Emissions and Hydrocarbon Species)

  • 1.7L 커먼레일 직접분사 디젤 엔진을 이용하여 1500rpm 3.9bar BMEP 조건에서 세가지 연소 전략에 따른 배기가스 배출 특성 및 탄화수소 종 분석을 수행하였다. 첫째 전략은 EGR 을 사용하지 않고 연료 분할 분사를 이용하는 방법(split injection), 둘째는 적절한 EGR 적용 및 단일 연료분사 방법(single-1)이며 셋째는 다량의 EGR 및 레일 압력 증대 등을 통한 저온디젤연소(single-2)이다. 본 실험 조건으로부터 split injection 방법과 single-1 방법은 PM-NOx 상반 관계를 보였고, single-2 방법은 PM-NOx 상관관계에서 벗어나 PM 및 NOx 동시 저감이 가능하였다. 탄화수소 종 분석 결과, THC 배출 경향과 동일하게 탄소번호에 관계없이 split injection 이 가장 적은 배출을 보였고, single-1 그리고 single-2 의 순서로 많이 배출하였다. 메탄, 아세틸렌 및 CO 의 THC 에 대한 비율은 공연비가 농후해 짐에 따라서 증가하였고 이는 공연비가 농후에 따른 연소 영역에서 산소 농도 감소로 열해리가 증가하였기 때문이다.

니켈합금 Metal Foam을 적용한 예혼합 버너의 연소특성 (Combustion Characteristics of Premixed Combustor using Nickel Based Metal Foam)

  • A premixed combustion has many advantages including low NOx and CO emission, high thermal efficiency and a small volume of combustor. This study focused on combustion characteristics in a premixed combustion burner using the nickel based metal foam. The results show that the blue flame is found to be very stable at heating load 6,300-25,200 kcal/h by implementing the proper nickel based metal foam and baffle plate. The premixed flame mode is changed into green flame, red flame, blue flame and lift off flame with decreasing equivalence ratio. NOx emission was measured 80 ppm(0% oxygen base) from 0.710 to 0.810 of equivalence ratio and CO emission is 90 ppm(0% oxygen base) under the same equivalence ratio. It is also found that the stable blue flame region in flame stability curve becomes wider with increasing the heat load.

다공 세라믹 액체 연료 연소기의 연소 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Combustion Characteristics of Porous Ceramic Liquid Fuel Combustor)

  • Experimental study on a porous ceramic liquid fuel combustor is performed. Compact burner with low pollutant emission and high combustion efficiency is realized through the use of porous ceramic materials of high porosities. The use of porous ceramic materials in burner material results in rapid vaporization of liquid fuel and enhancement in mixing process, and thus nearly premixed combustion of liquid fuel is achieved instead of diffusion and partially premixed combustion method, which is often used and apt to produce high pollutant emissions such as CO, NOx and soot. With this enhanced vaporization and premixing method of liquid fuel vapor and air, it is found that enhanced combustion process with intense radiation output and better emission characteristics in NOx, CO and soot emission, compared to other conventional liquid fuel burning method, are possible.

중유 화염 연소로에서 LNG와 왕겨분말의 재연소 효과 비교 (The Comparison Study on Reburning Effects of LNG and Rice Husk in Heavy Oil Flamed Furnace)

  • In commercial combustion systems, heavy oil is one of main hydrocarbon fuel because of its economical efficiency. Regarding heavy oil combustion, due to increasing concerns over environmental pollutants such as carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxides, development of low pollutant emission methods has become an imminent issue for practical application to numerous combustion devices. Also a great amount of effort has been tried to developed effective methods for practical using of biomass. It is also an important issue to reduce carbon tax. In this paper, an experimental study has been conducted to evaluate the effect of biomass reburning on NOx formation in a heavy oil flamed combustion furnace. Experiments were performed in flames stabilized by a multi-staged burner, which was mounted at the front of the furnace. Experimental tests were conducted using air-carried rice husk powder and LNG as the reburn fuel and heavy oil as the main fuel. The paper reports data on flue gas emissions and temperature distribution in the furnace for several kinds of experimental conditions. NOx concentration in the exhaust has decreased considerably due to effect of reburning. The maximum NOx reduction rate was 62% when the rice husk was used by reburn fuel, however it was 59% when the LNG was used by reburn fuel. The result shows the positive possibility of biomass reburning system for optimal NOx reduction.

연소기에서의 다단 저 NOx 버너의 수치 및 실험적 연구 (Numerical & Experimental Study For Burner of Low NOx Formation of Multi-Stage In a Combustor)

  • Air pollution included Nitric Oxide(NOx) from heating boilers is increased by pursuing better life. Development of low NOx emission boiler is strongly needed. However commercial burner for heating boiler is also asked to be thermal efficient and low-cost manufactuable in addition to low NOx emission. Small space for combustor including burner is usually allowed. In this study, parametric study of compact low NOx burner for heating boiler was done using numerical analysis and experiments. Commerical computational fluid dynamic(CFD) program named CFX 5-6 was used for numerical analysis of low NOx burner using turbulent diffusion flame. Comparison of outlet NO and outlet temperature under various equivalence ratio and fuel flow rate was performed between experiment and numerical analysis.
