The decentralization of local extension authority is due to several aspect of improper law on extension. First, extension authority has not treated the extension law properly though it has many local office in province, counties, villages. Second, the authority concentrated too much on the service ignoring the local offices are under the improper law. Third, the authority lost their dignity when other institutions argue for their work on the extension services, Extension Institution should change, but the change should come with proper law environment.
Work-related musculoskeletal disorders constitute a major source of employee disability and lost wages. Cumulative Trauma Disorders(CTD) refers to a category of physical conditions which result from chronic musculoskeletal injury. Assessment of CTD risk in industry at early stage allows for early control, a safe environment, and a healthier workforce. In this study, the physical load of the shipping work in the cold storage warehouse were especially investigated. Employees were working with almost unnatural posture in a very restricted work space. The questionnaire and biomechanical analysis were used to evaluate the physical load. Results from analyses showed that they were sufficiently exposed to CTD due to repetition and unnatural posture. Based on the analysis, ways for improving working conditions are proposed. The analysis and proposals in this paper will serve as a basic tool for designing/redesigning working environment such as improvement of tools and equipments, design of times for work/rest cycle.
Recently, the government is pursuing to reduce the serious accidents in most industries, including the construction industry, by enacting laws on punishment. The accident rate tends to be depended on the size and type of construction sites, and the accidents occur frequently due to inadequate implementation of safety management system and management standards, especially, in small and medium-sized sites. This study has performed the profiling of 265,000 accident cases on construction sites by attribute analysis such as the ratio of days lost to work, and pattern of days lost to work compared to the size of the construction. It turned out that the proportion of accident cases was high mainly in small-scale construction sites, and long-term labor losses occurred. Shortly, it is necessary to establish an institutional standard for applying a realistic safety management cost calculation and management system centered on small-scale sites. Therefore, this study is expected to be used as fundamental data or guideline for developing a customized safety management and accident prevention system for a worker reflecting the conditions of a construction site in the future.
Four pairs of draught oxen (two local and two Jersey crossbred) were studied when they ploughed dry land on local farms. Work done, distance traveled and body temperature of each ox were measured continuously over a 5 h working day. A different team worked each day, completing at least six days work each. Individual food intakes and digestibility of feed were measured when the animals were given rice straw and tree fodder, and housed and fed according to local husbandry practices. The Jersey crossbreds, particularly the longer legged type, had a higher rate of work than the local oxen in this study. They did significantly more work and covered a greater distance during the day. The absence of a hump in the crossbred oxen had no effect on the position of the yoke or the way the oxen pulled when ploughing. The longer legged type of Jersey crossbred tended to work more erratically than any of the other teams. A fast rate of work made the oxen more liable to heat stress. When fed according to local practices and given the same amount of feed as local oxen, Jersey crossbreds tended to do less well. During the ploughing months, the local oxen gained weight, while the crossbreds remained at the same or lost some weight. Although there were some disadvantages to keeping Jersey crossbreds for work, their favourable work output suggests that the introduction of the Jersey crossbred in the hills of Nepal is unlikely to be detrimental to the performance of the work oxen population.
Exergy is the amount of reversible work obtainable when some matter is brought to a state of thermodynamic equilibrium with ambient. This exergy is availability or useful work induced from carnot cycle, and this can calculate the irreversible loss work which occurs within any thermal or power cycle. The exergy ratio is the value of exergy divided by enthalpy of ambient reference, where the quality of energy or enthalpy in substances is evaluated by exergy ratio. Exergy is very important in optimal design method of thermal system or each component, and the value of exergy at given state is calculated by equation. Here, designer can easily understand and find the value of enthalpy because enthalpy is graphically drawn in chart, however exergy did not. In this paper, exergy and exergy ratio of air were drawn on temperature-entropy chart, and we wish to this chart is a help to design, analysis and education.
An incremental subspace learning scheme to recover lost speech segments online is presented. Our contributions in this work are twofold. First, the recovery problem is transformed into an interpolation problem of the time-varying gains via nonnegative matrix factorization. Second, incremental nonnegative matrix factorization is employed to allow online processing and track the evolution of speech statistics. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is confirmed by the experiment results.
The objective of this paper is to report how workers' actively participate in a participatory ergonomics (PE) program, and how this program resulted in improved working conditions and decreased occurrence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). A major tire manufacturing company in Korea was studied. Most of the activities in the PE program were designed and actually practiced by the workers and their union. The results revealed some positive effects of applying a PE program to the employees. It was shown that incidence of the WMSDs as well as the lost work days and the economic cost incurred by the WMSDs decreased with the PE program.
This study is on the construction work of Preservation for Korean architectural properties during the period of japan invader. Korea lost their preservation ability of architectural properties when went through specific background from 1910 to 1945, which was the period of japan invader. Through this situation japan had to face the preservation of architectural properties for japan and korea. After 1945, korea has preserved the architectural properties over 50's years and which accomplishment every yew. Also, there are some architectural properties which registered in world heritages. However, the study of this period is not studied enough. Especially a construction work for architectural properties during this period is not become known. Therefore, the purpose of this study is for three. First is to analyze construction work data(a specifications and etc.) for accessing originality of korea architectural properties. Second is to understand about the construction works of preservation for the korean architectural properties. and the last is to compare the peculiarities of construction work of Preservation for korean architectural properties between during 1910-1945 and 1945-1965.
Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) were a major source of disability and lost work time after 'Foreign Currency Crisis(1998-2000)' in Korea. There is considerable evidence documenting the association between psychosocial risk factors and work disability due to WMSDs. But, there is not much in Korea. The present study aimed to explore the predictive association between the changed working conditions and WMSDs after 'Foreign Currency Crisis' in Korea. A study sample of 8,670 automobile assembly workers were recruited for this study. A structured-questionnaire was used to assess general characteristics, working conditions, and information concerning medical treatment of WMSDs. After adjustment for sociodemographic factors, increased overtime work(OR=1.22), daily work time(OR=1.20), work speed (OR=1.32), number of workers(OR=0.83), supervisory control(OR=1.39), physical load(OR=1.39), and mental load (OR=1.25) were all founded to be significantly associated with WMSDs. This study has shown the importance of changed working conditions in the occurrence of WMSDs. Therefore, it will be necessary to reduce WMSDs with controlling both physical and psychosocial factors.
