PAQM: an Adaptive and Proactive Queue Management for end-to-end TCP Congestion Control

  • In this paper, we introduce and analyze a feedback control model of TCP/AQM dynamics. Then, we propose the Pro-active Queue Management (PAQM) mechanism, which can provide proactive congestion avoidance and control using an adaptive congestion indicator and a control function for wide range of traffic environments. The PAQM stabilizes the queue length around a desired level while giving smooth and low packet loss rates independent of the traffic load level under a wide range of traffic environment. The PAQM outperforms other AQM algorithms such as Random Early Detection (RED) [1] and PI-controller [2]

  • A mathematical model has been developed for the simulation of static stability of agricultural tractors. The model was based on Reichmann's model but modified to improve its shortcomings for practical applications. Two examples of model simulation were presented and showed its usefulness in evaluating the control and stability loss boundaries.

엔틀러 터미널 환경에서 실험적인 패스 로스 모델에 관한 연구 (The Study on Empirical Propagation Path Loss Model in the Antler Terminal Environment)

  • 본 논문에서는 엔틀러 구조를 가진 인천공항 터미널 지역에서 항공정보통신 무선 채널의 패스 로스 모델에 관해 연구하였다. 항공정보통신 주파수 밴드인 VHF/UHF 채널 중에 두 개의 주파수에 대해 전파 측정을 수행하였다. 현재 운영 중인 송신 사이트에서 변조 신호를 제거한 캐리워 파워를 송신하였으며, 전파 측정을 위해 수신기를 장착한 이동 차량을 이용하여 여객터미널 지역에서 전파 측정을 수행하였다. 송신 파워, 주파수, 안테나 위치 등은 현재 운용 조건과 같다. 패스 로스 계수 및 실험적인 패스 로스식은 기본적인 패스 로스 모델 및 하타 모델등을 이용하여 추출하였다. 엔트러 구조를 가진 터미널 지역에서 추출된 NLOS 패스 로스 계수는 128.2MHz 및 269.1MHz에서 각각 3.32 및 3.10이었고 예측 에러의 편차는 각각 9.69 및 9.65 이었다. 추출된 패스 로스 계수를 이용하여 여객터미널 지역에서 전파 패스 로스 식을 실험적인 패스 로스 계수을 도출하였으며 또한 다른 전파 패스 모델과 비교하였다. 이러한 결과는 항공정보통신 사이트 최적 위치 선정 및 항공정보통신 서비스 평가에 도움이 될 것이다.

  • Common Channel Signaling(CCS) networks need special controls to avoid overload of signaling networks and degradation of call process-ing rate, since they play an important role of controlling communication transfer networks. Congestion control and flow control mechanisms are well described in ITU-T recommendation on Signaling System No.7(SS7). For the practical provisions, however, we need an analysis on the relation among service objects, system requirements and implementation of congestion control algorithms. SS7 provides several options for controlling link congestion in CCS networks. In this paper we give a general queueing model of congestion control algorithm which covers both the international and national options. From the queuing model, we obtain the performance parameters such as throughput, message loss rate and mean delay for the international option. To show the performance of the algorithm, some numerical results are also given.

Warm standby 고장김내 구조를 지원하는 교환 제어 시스템에서의 가동률 분석 (An availability analysis of switching control system with warm standby fault tolerant architecture)

  • In this paper, we describe several warm standby fault-tolerant models and their operation methods applicable to telephone switching control systems which have dual module structure and need high availability. Unavailabilities of the system implemented by four different methods for each model are computed by using the Markov state model, and then are compared for system performance evaluation. As the results ofsimulations, the warm standby model with triple processors is best in the aspect of data loss, while in most cases the warm standby model with doble processors based on no standby check method provides the highest system avaiability. Periodic changeover increases the system unavailability, but the preriodic standby check on standby module decreases the system unavailability of warm standby model with a single processor and with double processors. On the other hands, the variationas of warm standby model with a single processor and with double processors. On the other hand, the variations of data recovery time and personnel recovery rate have little effect on the system unavailtability.

  • In this paper, we propose sliding mode congestion controller for differentiated-services network. Two important issue in differentiated-services architecture are bandwidth guarantee and fair sharing of unsubscribed bandwidth among TCP flows with and without bandwidth reservation. We use tight upper and lower bounds for various settings of differentiated-services parameters using the loss-bounded model. The Sliding mode congestion controller scheme is designed using nonlinear control theory based on a nonlinear model of the network that is generated using fluid flow consideration. The methodology used is general and independent of technology, as for example TCP/IP or ATM. The sliding mode congestion controller methodology has been applied to an TCP network. We use NS-2 simulation to demonstrate that the proposed control methodology achieves the desired behavior of the network, and possesses important attributes. as e.g, stable and robust behavior, high utilization with bounded delay and loss, together with good steady-state and transient behavior.

  • 연구대상해역인 대천해수욕장은 이상파, 태풍의의 내습시 해빈 전반에 걸친 침식현상이 발생하여 단기영향에 따른 표사제어가 필요하므로 현장조사, 수리모형실험자료 및 수치모델해석을 통해 그 원인과 실태를 분석하였으며, 다양한 대책공법 중에서 양빈, 잠제와 양빈을 병행하는 경우를 현장에서 취할 수 있는 방법으로 선택하였다. 두가지 방안에 대한 수치 실험 결과를 현재여건과 비교하여 최적 설계안을 결정함으로써, 대상해역의 장기적인 모래유실을 방지대책을 수립하는데 기여하고자 하였다.

  • This paper proposes a new loss minimization controller (LMC) for induction motor drive. The proposed LMC presents a strategy to minimize the total power losses of induction motor (IM), which is based on simplified equivalent circuit and simplified model of IM. The proposed controller using the field oriented control (FOC) method is to determine an optimal rotor flux for obtaining the minimum total power losses and higher efficiency. Simulation and experimental results are given to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • The BMAP/M/N/0 queueing system operating in Markovian random environment is investigated. The stationary distribution of the system is derived. Loss probability and other performance measures of the system also are calculated. Numerical experiments which show the necessity of taking into account the influence of random environment and correlation in input flow are presented.

하이브리드 자동차용 모터 및 인버터 최신 동향 분석 (Recent Progress Trend in Motor and Inverter for Hybrid Vehicle)

  • Many efforts have focused on the improvement of power density and efficiency by downsizing the motor and inverter. Recently, Toyota, Honda, and GM realized that the compact-sized motor uses the hairpin structure with increased space factor. Reducing the maximum torque from high-speed technique also makes it possible to design the high-power density model. Toyota and Honda used the newly developed power semiconductor IGBT to decrease conduction loss for high-efficiency inverter. In particular, Toyota used the boost converter to increase the DC link voltage for high efficiency in low-torque high-speed region. Toyota and GM also used the double-sided cooling structure for miniaturization of inverter for high-power density.
