  • Fish exportation using airplanes incurs sizable logistics costs (12,000KRW/kg), according for more than 45% out of the total export cost. Thus, it is unreasonable to quantitatively expand fish exportation by means of air transport. In addition, cases of failing to deliver fish at the right time to the right place occurs frequently due to the limited cargo capacity and insufficient cargo space of airplanes, especially during the peak season. Therefor, a technology that not only minimizes the logistics costs but also transports fish freshly and safely, in the case of long distance exportation to countries such as the United States and Taiwan, should be developed. In this study, a live fish container control system for long distance transportation was designed and implemented. Live flatfish (2,000kg) were selected as the target fish, were transported to the United States to analyze and verify the performance of the a live fish container control ystem and transportation ability.

  • A third of primary energy is lost as a waste heat. To improve this inefficient use of energy, systems using chemical reaction have been suggested and studied. In this study, methanol decomposition/synthesis reaction as a chemical reaction was selected for long time heat storage and long distance heat transport system because of safe, cheap and gaseous product. The purpose of this study is to find the optimal conditions in the methanol decomposition and synthesis reactions for long distance heat transport. Several parameters such as reaction temperature, pressure, $H_2$/CO ratio, space velocity, catalyst particle size were tested to find the effects on the reaction rates for the methanol synthesis. And the reaction temperature, space velocity, catalyst particle size were tested to find the effects on the production concentration for the methanol decomposition.

  • The new developed long distance transport technology uses the effect of electro-magnetic energy. But it's difficult to estimate the new technology. We monitored the velocity profile and pressure drops in pipes and estimated the technology quantitatively from data analysis. Laboratory test and field test gave us that the effects of electro-magnetic energy changed the flow properties and increased the velocity, especially at the slip layer. When transporting the dredged soil, electro-magnetic field generation reduces the frictional resistances at the slip layer, increases the velocity of flow. Furthermore, it would be possible to transport the dredged materials up to 15km long with one pump station.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a new energy transport system for district cooling application by using type 2 absorption cycle. Cold energy from the LNG storage system is utilized as the cooling source of the condenser and the rectifier. The pressures of the system, UAs of the evaporator and the desorber, and the inlet temperatures of the refrigerant to each component are considered as the key parameters. The results show that UA of the evaporator is more dominant parameter on COP than that of the desorber and the optimum system pressure for the demand side is estimated as 525 kPa. For the present system, it is recommended that the refrigerant inlet temperature of the evaporator be lower than $4.3^{\circ}C$ for long-distance transportation. It is concluded that the cold energy from the LNG storage system can be effectively applied to the long-distance transportation system for district cooling application with the type 2 absorption cycle. The optimum operation conditions are also predicted from the parametric analysis.

  • A project is being implemented to develop the long distance energy transport technology using the chemical reactions. This project can be classified into three main research categories covering heat recovery reaction, long distance energy transport, and heat generation reaction. In this study, the methanol is selected as a system material since it shows several unique superior characteristics as follows: gaseous state of reactant and product, large heat of reaction, high yields of reaction at relatively low temperature, and also steady and economical supply. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the outcomes of this study can be widely applied to the related industries. A feasibility study was carried out to evaluate the economics of this technology which study was based on the following case: 10,000 households, 15km distance energy transportation, utilization of waste heat from power plant.

  • LoRa (Long Range) is a long-distance, low-power communication technology. Broader range of communication than NFC technology allows communication without having to install multiple APs and reduces the cost of initial infrastructure deployment. MQTT (Message, Queuing, Telemetry, Transport) protocol is also low power and lightweight protocols. It can increase module persistence and reduce maintenance costs when used with LoRa. In this paper, we developed a system for compiling various environmental information in a factory using LoRa and MQTT. Environmental sensor data from long distances can be monitored by the management system and the facilities in each workshop can be controlled. Performance tests have also shown that the use of LoRa and MQTT is effective in terms of long-distance and power consumption.

  • Satellite communication in the 21 century's high tech information world is developing rapidly, marked by high levels of applications and functions. For example, satellite communication can process and switch the speed of the service provided by a broad and vast digital multimedia system such as a long-distance all between nations or broadcasting transfer service, which is supplied by a contemporary satellite system. So, it bring about problems which lack of satellite orbit and gibes out frequency resource by increment of satellite universally. To support this, an OBP satellite system is need, which includes an on-board IF/RF switch, baseband signal processing, multi-beam antenna technology, as well as a simple transponder system. In this paper, we have outlined the next generation of satellite communication; satellite OBP transport network architecture, which offers multimedia service and applied frequency reuse method for multi-spot beam. The satellite B-ISDN transport network architecture is also analyzed.

  • Although the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor is a motor useful for transportation systems thanks to its high speed, high acceleration and deceleration, the linear motor generally has armatures installed on the full length of the transport path. It results in the increase in material costs and manufacturing time. As a means to solve this problem a stationary discontinuous armature system is suggested. However, it involves the following two issues. The first issue is it is impossible to control the mover in the section where any armature is not installed as armatures are distributed. The second one is increasing cogging force due to the ends of the armatures. Therefore, this study aims to solve these problems by adjusting intervals between armatures to control the mover anywhere, and to design the interval between armatures optimally to minimize the end cogging force. The suitable distance was deduced. It addressed the problems and showed suitability for long distance transportation PMLSM.

  • Thermosyphons are simple devices that can passively transport thermal energy over relatively long distance with little temperature degradation. These attributes permit the use of low grade thermal energy for thermal control of structures including the snow melting and deicing to the pavement surface. The thermosyphon system requires no costly energy input and Is completely maintenance free. This paper presents the experimental results of the snow melting system in which thermosyphon was utilized to transfer the geothermal energy to the pavement to obviate slipping traffic accidents due to freezing of pavement in winter.
