  • In today's world economy, technology and knowledge have become the key words for value creation. Since 1998, various research institutions and universities in Korea, with support from Small and Medium Business Administration, have buckled to establish and operate incubating centers in order to foster such industries. Even though these centers have been operated in accordance with the purpose of the establishment, it has been over six years now, and it is necessary to evaluate its overall performance before moving on. Incubating a venture company results in not only technology innovation, but also jobs creation and economic growth. Knowing the importance of that, a government, at all levels, has supported the incubating centers as the most effective way to support venture companies in Korea. Incheon now plays a great role as a hub of logistics and trade in North East Asia. In order to nurture the city as the center of Korean economy, the city of Incheon has financially supported various incubating centers in the city, in an effort to incubate potential venture companies with lack of business experiences. It is imperative to find out what these companies need and how they evaluate the system at this point to develop a guiding principle of its operation as well as a careful selection process of a company in the future. In section II of this research, a concept of an incubating center is defined. An objective, a policy of its operation as well as its structure are explained in this chapter with case studies of Incheon College. 'Resources' are divided into human resources and material resources. And the survey that 71 different companies (out of 164 companies in 10 different incubating centers) have participated in is included in this section as well.

  • Recently, the importance of the northeast economies including Russia has been growing, and according to the Eurasian initiative policy, the enhancement of transportation, logistics and connectivity between the northeast Asian countries is emerging as one of the challenges for future growth. However, due to the different vehicle systems used in each country, the railway connections between countries are not operating smoothly. Especially, the couplers of the railway cars which pass through the countries of northeast Asia including Russia have different regulations, which render their shape and characteristics incompatible. In this study, we propose a method of interconnecting the AAR type coupler used in Korea and China and the CA-3 type coupler compatible with the Russian GOST standard, and verify that its structural safety conforms with each set of regulations. We analyze the possibilities offered by this method of interconnection by performing tests while developing materials satisfying the mechanical properties required for the freight coupler.

  • Railway is paid attention as a means of environment-friendly transportation and logistics. Efforts to enhance the competitiveness by IT convergence, for railway vehicle market share of the world, has been promoted. This study proposes a technology development plan of railway IT convergence. We analyzed the results of legacy researches and technology patents related with railway IT convergence and derived the target tasks in accordance with our technologies classification. By adopting the multi-attributes utility theory methodology and using survey of experts, we selected the core research issues. The result of this study could help policy making and R&D planning about railway IT convergence.

  • Two of the most important changes in the global market can be represented with Hyper-connection and Glocalization. To cope with these changes and secure the competitive advantages, it is essential to develop the standard organization, policy, processes and criteria for service management. In addition, the service management system is required to effectively support the R&D project management. In this research, an adaptive framework and system architecture for designing R&D project management process using cloud computing has been introduced. With the proposed system, it is able to overcome the limitations of traditional service management and treat the demand from the market in agility. Moreover, it may be possible to present more value than customers want and secure the competitive advantages in the global market with the proposed system.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the perceptions that ports and port users in the supply chain have on the variables of Supply Chain Security Orientation construct. This paper also aims to provide directions and insights to the perceptional issues on supply chain security that have emerged as an independent area of research within SCM and logistics. Starting from the explanation on Supply Chain Security Orientation research model, this paper mainly explored and analyzed the different perceptions of variables in the research model between port group and port user group. Primarily, it explores the descriptive statistics from the questionnaire, and does not analyze the causal relationships of proposed research model. It aims to serve as a guide to the supply chain security managers who are interested in policy issues related to security measures to better performance of the organization.

This paper deals with some economic perspectives on the conceptual concerns on transaction costs and its applications to energy and environments, and glocalization strategies of e-business. First, we consider substantial differences between offline and online channel transactions and categorize three different aspects of transaction costs in the purchasing process in both channels. Second, we examine the impacts of e-business that affect sustainable environments and provide some considerations on energy savings, product-process design, and logistics. Finally, we present some opportunities and challenges posted by global e-business and outline the economics of networking in achieving enhanced performance and competitive advantage through glocalization strategies of e-business.

  • This study investigates customer satisfaction with full service carriers (FSC) and low cost carriers (LCC) using social media sentiment evaluation. From 2008 to 2016, a total of 77,591 tweets about two FSC and six LCC were aggregated and classified as per airline choice factors. Sentiment evaluation was employed to assess customer satisfaction by three appraisers. The results showed that customer satisfaction with LCC was significantly higher (p<0.001) compared to FSC. Furthermore, overall customer satisfaction with both FSC and LCC has been facing a consistent downward trend since the last seven years. The results also highlighted low customer satisfaction with respect to booking and flight operation factors, and a steep decline in customer satisfaction across booking, onboard services, and marketing factors for FSC. The results of this study have practical implications for the airline industry, which can use this quantitative data to improve customer satisfaction with FSC and LCC.

  • The study was conducted to investigate and identify safety awareness and traffic accident relation. Data collection used raw data from the 6th year(2014) to the 7th year(2017) of the National Health and Nutrition Survey. Subjects of the study were conducted on 421 people with experience in traffic accidents and the analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. Data analysis determined safety awareness and traffic accident using frequency and ratio, Chi-Square, and logistics return analysis. The more Basic Living Allowance, the more do not Seat belts in the front seat of the car, the more Professional are related to traffic accidents. It is expected that this will contribute to making basic data for future studies related to reduction of traffic accident patients.

  • The megatrends of the Korean distribution industry market in 2014 reflect opportunities in parallel import & overseas direct purchase. Korean government addressed that "Monopoly & Oligopoly consumer goods import improvement plan" to stabilizing importing goods prices and domestic consumers' burden relief through accelerating market competition. and moreover it is to improving distribution channel and promoting parallel import market business. The Korean market is very unique in that consumers' real sensory index of open up importation effect level is low, but nominal open up importation effect level is high. This is due to difficulties in creating a proper importing goods distribution market and alternative importing routes are very rare. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the market situation and parallel import to improve Korean government's "Monopoly & Oligopoly consumer goods import improvement plan" policy for the revitalization of the domestic market economy and to boost up a new growth engine industry.
