  • As users of internet-based software applications increase, functional and non-functional problems for software applications are quickly exposed to user reviews. These user reviews are an important source of information for software improvement. User review mining has become an important topic of intelligent software engineering. This study proposes a user review mining method for software improvement. User review data collected by crawling on the app review page is analyzed to check user satisfaction. It analyzes the sentiment of positive and negative that users feel with a machine learning method. And it analyzes user requirement issues through topic analysis based on structural topic modeling. The user review mining process proposed in this study conducted a case study with the a non-face-to-face video conferencing app. Software improvement through user review mining contributes to the user lock-in effect and extending the life cycle of the software. The results of this study will contribute to providing insight on improvement not only for developers, but also for service operators and marketing.

  • Virtualization has become one of the most helpful techniques in computing systems, and today it is prevalent in several computing environments including desktops, data-centers, and enterprises. However, since I/O layers are implemented to be oblivious to the I/O behaviors on virtual machines (VM), there still exists an I/O scalability issue in virtualized systems. In particular, when a multi-queue solid state drive (SSD) is used as a secondary storage, each system reveals a semantic gap that degrades the overall performance of the VM. This is due to two key problems, accelerated lock contentions and the I/O parallelism issue. In this paper, we propose a novel approach, including the design of virtual CPU (vCPU)-dedicated queues and I/O threads, which efficiently distributes the lock contentions and addresses the parallelism issue of Virtio-blk-data-plane in virtualized environments. Our approach is based on the above principle, which allocates a dedicated queue and an I/O thread for each vCPU to reduce the semantic gap. Our experimental results with various I/O traces clearly show that our design improves the I/O operations per second (IOPS) in virtualized environments by up to 155% over existing QEMU-based systems.

  • The power quality of Single Phase Grid-Connected Inverters (GCIs) has received much attention with the increasing number of Distributed Generation (DG) systems. However, the performance of single phase GCIs get degraded due to several factors such as the grid voltage harmonics, the dead time effect, and the turn ON/OFF of the switches, which causes the harmonics at the output of GCIs. Therefore, it is not easy to satisfy the harmonic standards such as IEEE 519 and P1547 without the help of harmonic compensator. To meet the harmonic standards a certain kind of harmonic controller needs to be added to the current control loop to effectively mitigate the low order harmonics. In this paper, the harmonic compensation is performed using a novel robust harmonic compensation method based on Digital Lock-in Amplifier (DLA). In the proposed technique, DLAs are used to extract the amplitude and phase information of the harmonics from the output current and compensate it by using a simple PI controller in the feedforward manner. In order to show the superior performance of the proposed harmonic compensation technique, it is compared with those of conventional harmonic compensation methods in terms of the effectiveness of harmonic elimination, complexity, and implementation. The validity of the proposed harmonic compensation techniques for the single phase GCIs is verified through the experimental results with a 5kW single phase GCI. Index Terms -Single Phase Grid Connected Inverter (SPGCI), Harmonic Compensation Method, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and Harmonic Standard.

  • A two-dimensional numerical method for inviscid two-fluid flows with a significant entrainment into both directions is established, and the oil leakage from a non-pressurized underwater pipe is studied. The interface between two fluids is modeled at a vortex sheet. The flow field and the subsequent interface evolution are solved by using the vortex-in-cell method. For longer flow simulation with a realistic two fluids interaction, an efficient merging scheme is introduced. In the Boussinesq limit, the speed of the external fluid intrusion into the pipe is very close to the existing mathematical models, and the lock exchange is observed in spite of a significant roll-up of the interface and entrainments. It is believed that the developed method can be utilized effectively for further detailed studies on various two-fluid flows which are encountered in many different marine oil spill problems.

  • In MMO game servers, NUMA (Non-Uniform Memory Access) architecture is generally used to achieve high performance. Furthermore, such servers normally use hash tables as internal data structure which have constant time complexity for insert, delete, and search operations. In this study, we proposed a concurrent hash table optimized for NUMA system to make MMO game servers improve their performance. We tested our hash table on 4 socket NUMA system, and the hash table shows at most 100% speedup over another high-performance hash table.

  • Most accident reconstruction or analysis depend on the coefficient of friction to estimate the vehicle speeds. Skid mark and coefficient of friction are usually utilized to calculate the velocity and behavior of vehicles. For a critical case such as traffic accident reconstruction, however, the initial velocity of the car should be calculated precisely. In this paper, emergency brake tests on ABS and Non-ABS brake system are conducted on the dry pavement asphalt road on speed 40, 60, 80 and 100 km/h respectively. The SWIFT sensor was established in the front wheel and rear wheel at driver side to measure the forces, moments and speeds of revolution of the tires. These tests results can be available to brake tests and accident reconstruction.

  • We present a new procedure to evaluate the degradation in a lCr-lMo-0.25V steel. The method is based on the existence of the peak of reversible permeability in the differential magnetization around the coercive field strength. The apparatus is based on the detection of the voltage induced in a surface type coil using a lock-in amplifier tuned to a frequency to the exciting one. Results obtained the reversible permeability and Vickers hardness on the annealed samples show the peak interval of reversible permeability and Vickers hardness decreased as ageing time increased. The correlation between Vickers hardness and the peak interval of reversible permeability could well be evaluated non destructively.

  • Vehicle dynamics control systems are complex and non-linear, so they have difficulties in developing a controller for the anti-lock braking systems and the auto-traction systems. Currently the fuzzy-logic technique to estimate the absolute vehicle speed supplies good results in normal conditions. But the estimation error in severe braking is discontented In this paper, we estimate the absolute vehicle speed of UCT(Unmanned Container Transporter) by using the wheel speed data from standard anti-lock braking system wheel speed sensors. Radial symmetric basis function of the neural network model is proposed to implement and estimate the absolute vehicle speed, and principal component analysis on input data is used 10 algorithms are verified experimentally to estimate the absolute vehicle speed and one of them is perfectly shown to estimate the vehicle speed within 4% error during a braking maneuver.

  • In this paper, infrared thermography measurement technique has been used to develop standard measurement technique for nondestructive testing of composite materials which is widely used in aerospace industries. To increase the defect detection rate, the related experiment used the lock-in IR-thermographiy method. Therefore it is of considerable interest in the field of non-destructive testing for fast discontinuity detection by using ultrasonic lock-in infrared thermography. The result also shows that as the investigation period of light source is lengthened according to the thickness of specimen, the possibility of detecting defects gets higher as well. However, the reason why the result values were not favorable when less than 50 mHz of light source was provided is because it was difficult to detect defects as the defect parts became a state of thermal equilibrium in general when thermal diffusivity affects the entire materials.

  • This paper presents a proof-of-concept study on the evaluation of torsional vibration isolation performance through in-situ output torque measurement by using a non-contacting magneto-elastic torque transducer installed in the vehicle driveline system. The de-trending processing is first conducted to extract the torsional vibration from the measured driveline output torque. In order to estimate the transmissibility, primary performance indicator of a vibration isolator, the magnitude of transmitted torsional vibration with different frequencies is compared. From the conservative estimation results, the torsional damper built in a lock-up clutch of a torque converter is identified to be a vibration isolator. The evaluation results show that the fluid damping by torque converter outperforms the vibration isolation function of a torsional damper, and the isolation performance needs to be enhanced.
